  1. The leaves are from altbricks.com If you need a hand, I may be able to that for you, once they are in the Flickr group
  2. The tour of Kaliphlin has begun!
  3. Welcome good travelers! We are pleased to have you join us on this wonderful tour of the many wonders of Kaliphlin! Today is our first stop, and we are brought to the home of the elves in the Withered Woods. Remember to keep your arms and legs inside the trolley for the entire ride. The elves are known to be territorial, and only allow us through on special occasions. We also ask that you please do not feed the elves. Theirs is a strict diet of figs, berries, nuts and green vegetables. We hope you enjoy the tour, and remember to join us everyday for the rest of this month for the rest of the tour! Fellow Historicans, the tour of Kaliphlin has begun. We ask that you all enjoy the many wonders we have to offer over the next 2 weeks. As always, thank you for visiting your friends in the South!
  4. Uh-oh! Another SK coming to dominate the castle world.....great job by him!
  5. Great stuff! This was such fun to peek through and find everyone. I see Kha showed up with Sal, good to have them both visit the city!
  6. I thought everyone had forgotten about my Great Escarpment build! It was so fun to build, but now after the GoH experience I could have done so much better! Anyways, I like the idea of the Aragon as an inspiration...it looks fantastic!
  7. End of june is too soon for me, I have another build in progress....but i'll join when I can
  8. When I read your top post, the first thing that I thought of was altbricks.com I have been to the Lego PAB wall many times(in Michigan) and have never found foliage in there, other than the grass/flower stems. For actual tree leaves, altbricks is great. They have many different colors, and the packages are $20 for 100 pieces which works out to about 20 cents per piece if that difficult math is correct . As for the quality, they are good quality. They are not quite as flexible as the official Lego leaf pieces, but they are made of ABS like Lego is and they look nearly identical. They fit onto Lego studs, and actually have stronger clutch power than the official Lego leaf pieces. However, the hole through the center of each of the 'stud areas' is just slightly different than the Lego leaf, so they don't fit the same on the tube pieces or rods(lightsabe blades). Overall though, a great place for foliage in my opinion
  9. Sounds like a great idea! I agree about using stone, because as I was going through the posts I was thinking..where would we find that much wood in the desert? But Gideon pointed that out! As for mapping, etc...I think that if we are going to make this into a community build, then a little pre-planning is the best idea. However, being the free spirited Kaliphlinnies( ) that we are, it can't be too rigid and structured or we would lose out on the great ideas each has to contribute
  10. How about Toril's Gate or just Gateway?
  11. Great to see this! That ZC guy was censoring properly regulating everything anyone said .....good to have some balance here.
  12. I agree...some of the builders here have become really good, and really productive at the same time. It's a really cool side effect of this group!
  13. Understood....another serious note-I posted the Kaliphlin teaser here, hoping to be an intro for our project that is coming next week. Hopefully that was correct?
  14. It's amazing how a little Kaliphlin pride in my post turned into warmongering......we elves of the Withered Woods do not desire war with our Avalonian neighbors. We do however still owe allegiance to the Great Lord Dextrus Flagg
  15. The builds are coming....just be patient. Next weekend, all of Historica will be treated to many of the wonders of the south
  16. I have 250 1x2 Dark Bley slopes and about 100 each of the 1x2x3 and 2x2x3, another 75 of the 2x2x2 slopes and about 150 cheese slopes. I have yet to use them all in one MOC, but the one I currently have 50% done will use every last one of them!
  17. Take a grand tour through the greatest Guild in Historica.....
  18. I was just coming back here to edit my post with a nevermind, since I just read that in the Avalonian thread....that's what I get for not reading everything first!
  19. Out of curiosity, what's the difference between the silver and gold borders?
  20. Z-Thanks for the tags, they look great! Especially in Dark Blue and Red....
  21. I'm alright with the sailors and the sail as they seem very Kaliphlin to me....plus I am not much of a ship historian, so I don't know what fits and what doesn't. Plus, I cant make a ship to save my life, so when I see a cool ship, I just recognize it for that....a cool ship!
  22. Z, I think you are right on with that last comment in particular. I think that GoH started out with a lot of intrigue and drew in lots of interest. As the challenges became more in depth and, well challenging we seemed to lose some steam in terms of number of participants. At the same time, over on CCC the Lands of CC started. I honestly haven't looked much into that, but from what I see in Flickr posts, etc...those challenges seem to be less in depth and they seem to have picked up some our people that left. While it seems to me that we have a much more in depth story arc, they have the numbers in terms of builders. I think that what you are working towards sounds like the right mix of story and less involved challenges that can get us the both of best worlds in terms of participation and rewarding storylines. By no means do I want to copy LCC, since we are the "originals" here, but by opening it up to a broader base of builders we may be able to really bolster our ranks and add in some more new blood and excitement like we had in the beginning. I like the idea of some set rotations of challenges in the differing guilds, and could probably incorporate our current characters as you stated but at the same time try out new building techniques. I must say that I am really pleased with the idea of 3 different categories for each challenge as that could allow for an even more diverse set of entries each time. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that the majority of my growth came from seeing what others are doing and adjusting to my own style. By bringing in others and other styles, I think that we will all benefit. My only complaint here is that I am really itching for another challenge, so let's get rolling! I am kidding a bit here, as I would much rather get it right and really help out GoH than just start another arc of challenges, but the sooner we get going, the better.
  23. Excellent job SK! This is a beautiful build, and you just keep turning out more and better MOC's
