  1. I'd trust CM4Sci's trust. Can't wait! Except i've just finished my own mini version... But i'm still probably going to want it! Its Hoth stuff! And I have an unhealthy and inexplainable liking for all things Hoth :s
  2. Im liking this a lot, and seeing such a simple fix for this is making me desperate to get one now! Are the wings still just as solid as before the mod?
  3. It was more of an investment to texture it with tiles... I've done plates, and think while it can look good in other colours, as snow, (or just because I'm doing it and suck at it) i don't think white plates looks as good... although, I do understand it does look a little too smooth, but I have run out of money for the time being to spend on it Those large quarter circle dishes came from bricklink, easily available on there Forgot to say, also, tiles are much easier to dust. Lots of studs gets annoying and a pain in the bum to dust and make look clean
  4. I really like it. It's surprising how such a small vehicle can be made so differently by so many people, and yet still look really good! I like the simple but effective features of it too :)
  5. So, You may or may not remember a while ago, I had made my own AT-AT microfighter, which ended up looking like a mini replica rather than a cute chibi version like TLGs did. I then made a snowspeeder to go with it, as who would have an AT-AT without a Snowspeeder?! Then I got onto doing an AT-ST, because, well, they were also briefly shown to be there, at the Battle of Hoth... So anyways, I then had 1 of each. I have my own minifig scaled AT-AT, but in no way can I ever afford to do a full size Battle of Hoth. So then I got thinking... what about a MF version? So I got to LDD and cracked on with designing it, and revelled in the fact I'd need to make more of the lil guys to go in it. I had a few aims: Include Ion cannon somehow piloted by a minfig. Include Shield Generator. Include fallen over AT-AT (includes 2) Include rebel trench Include the little rebel laser turrets Include rebel base doors that can open and close. I finally managed to take some decent pictures of it this morning so, figured it was now worthy of posting here! *edit* I am also aware that I literally built the body of the AT-AT backwards... the front should be shorter and the rear should be longer... Im slowly working on reversing it... but it isn't a high priority seeing as I have 4 of them wrong lol... 6. Doubtful at all. It'd be at least £100-150 minimum, because it will have 4 walls, a roof, and an interior...
  7. Any rough idea when the Qwik-e-mart might get discontinued? Im hoping to get it in February...
  8. No... jsut no... Can't imagine that happening...
  9. Hatted, it is simply held in place by the legs/hips being attached with technic pins into technic bricks which are located in the 'under-belly motors'.
  10. So, with no Ecto 1, and 4600 pieces, probably 3 fully furnished floors rather than the usual 2...? And probably a hell lot of the 1x2 textured bricks. And large enough to fit Ecto 1 inside it on the ground floor. That would have to be a must... or a missed opportunity...
  11. Lobot, where are these half price B-wings?! :o
  12. I really fail to see how the mystery mansion gets only a 4 on playability while the mummy set gets a 16??! I seriously don't think those scores are very accurate. Or the scorer has no imagination.
  13. If this is true, it makes me wonder... All the disapproval over the frequent amount of remakes of the snowspeeders, and now a remake of a ucs snowspeeder, when there has been 'voiced' a higher requirement of other vehicles that havent been done yet... And they remake a snowspeeder... They must know something we dont :p
  14. Hahaha pure originality! I like it! His cheeky grin face too lol
  15. While I am quite afraid that it may end up being staying just a rumour... I'm going to hold my hopes up high until the very end lol...
  16. I'm wondering... if some wires have been crossed at all, or if, one of the Hoth sets 'rumours' simply turns out to be incorrect... as it appears we are definitely getting a Hoth Attack set which will be small... might it just be that there was no UCS Hoth set to begin with, and the original source somehow got it mixed up... and that it simply is just the Hoth attack...?
  17. Affordability is subjective, and these larger sets clearly aren't aimed at those who look for the cheaper sets. Their intention with this is more than likely to create something that is full of and highly detailed, large, and resembles very closely (as much as Lego can) the source material. For you, you might simply display it, for others, they may well want to play with it. What is the point of having just an exterior? Where the figures run around an empty building. Even for display purposes, it limits the variety of displayed positions. You could only display it as a shell. Or, they can fill it with an interior, make it look interesting both inside and out, and people can display it opened up and adjust the interior/minifigs when they want. Small unimpressive set<massive awesome expensive set. They clearly feel that the building requires a certain level of detail, and that enough people will be willing to purchase the set to make it profitable for them. They can't make everything affordable for everyone, or we would have far too many little unimpressive/mediocre/'oh that's pretty cool' sets with nothing creating a 'wow' factor. TLG have to push the boundaries to stay top toy maker, and that means sometimes creating something that might just be outside of some people's budgets/affordability.
  18. A 500 piece firehouse would literally not be worth doing at all. It would literally spell out the fact that no decent representation would come out, and for 500 pieces, youd get half a floor, a couple of walls and a few pieces of random furniture. It wouldnt be enough to represent the HQ at all in all its glory, and im saying this as a passive fan of ghostbusters... I would be more than happy for you to throw together a 500 piece design on LDD that would be a reasonable representation of the HQ and prove me wrong though. For you, £250 may be too much, but there are plenty of others. They have already done a cheap ghostbusters set that has clearly sold well as they have decided to do a mahoosive HQ. They clearly believe there is a demand enough for it to warrant it being that much, probably based on the sales of the Ecto1 but also from the sales of similar sized buildings like the haunted house, and the 2 simpsons buildings, as well as other modulars...
  19. I think this is amazing news, as it would totally complete the ghostbusters licence to have that to go with the ecto. An unknown that i would like to know though as touched on above, is will it be sold alongside the current ecto, or will the ecto be stopped amd there will be a version with it, albeit probably less awesomely detailed, or will ecto be stopped by then, and the HQ wont come with one either so its sorta tough luck if you missed the ecto1... Knowing the hq is coming out actually made me almost buy ecto1, as i think the hq would make it so much more better... But then thinking about the above made me hold off until i know...
  20. Looks like it is coming along really well! As for interior, I used this website for interior details for mine: http://www.scifi3d.c...tCatID=8&key=85 As they base theirs on the incredible cross sections, which is good enough for me, and they use their creative independance to do what can't be seen in the incredible cross sections. This website also has an awful lot of up close shots of every aspect of it, highlighting those details that trying to see on the AT-AT studio model might be difficult to see on. I'm guessing just a few pipes/bars for the interior roof and that'll be the roof done? How much more to go now? You must be close!
  21. I really like seeing your ships. It is almost like seeing another Bob DeQuatre doing his amazing thing, except your style is different. I like the way you have done those landing feet that neatly tuck in and just look like normal greebles instead of landing gear tucked away! Does the rear entrance ramp lead anywhere up into the ship, or is it a closed off area? I love how you manage to incorporate decent looking and tidy interiors. Also, good job on making it a vertical ship. It is too easy to do a horizontal ship that making a vertical one is always interesting to see, and this definitely works!
  22. This series has forced me to fondle them next to the till. While these have only just come out, I am concerned about them being just for the Halloween period, and Im still seeing a lot of Simpsons S2 figs for sale which is probably going to clog up the S14 space up for a bit. So I just went for it, and Im glad I did! I doubled up on the gargoyle asap as I have a MOC I'll be using him for, accidentally got a double of the tiger woman (thought her whip was a vine from the plant monster ) and got 8 others including the fly. These really are all well designed, and Im loving the banshee and specter, the specter of which I think is actually really cute! For those planning on putting these in a frame, the specter and banshee require a 1x1 round stud or a 1x2 jumper stud tile to offset the depth of them due to their 'legs'.
  23. Howd you get them for that at Toys r Us?! Gutted about Asda... I never get that sort of luck to catch them sort of things on time...
  24. Your last picture (and someone elses within the previous 1 or 2 pages of this thread) looks much better and better with the angle too. Nice to see it is such a simple mod :)
