  1. After about a week of rebuilding/redesigning I think I'm finally more or less happy with the rough shape of the castle. The front guard tower seems to be of the right proportions to the rest of the structure and the rear tower feels the right size as well. I still feel like the gate house needs some work: might extend it 1 or two studs to overhang over each side and of course the inside of the castle needs major work. I'm planning to have a small manor in there (more or less centered and raised to have the floor at level with the walkways) Lowest level (basement/dungeon) will have armory, cells, well, and a privy ;) Ground level (bridge level) will have a small stable and troop quarter as well as a kitchen. Not sure if I I want the castle to be surrounded by a moat or just leave it as it is sitting on a rock. 2. Great story! Though being German you have big shoes to fill - Karl May :)
  3. Hmmm I think y'all are right about the smaller gatehouse being a better fit, but I'm having issues building a functional tower in the corner (as in one with either steps or ladders that still allows for a minifig to walk by and fit). This is pointing me towards potentially other solution: two front corner towers, though I think that will get me back to square one: front being big and heavy....
  4. I am going to put one in the rear in the corner opposite to the manor. My dilemma is should I make the tower taller than gate house, smaller or same....
  5. Since coming out of dark ages nearly year and a half ago I ventured first into City, then into Space/Star Wars and now into Castle. I had some minifigs left from long time ago plus I aquired the knight from series 9 and my wife bought me the medieval market village for my birthday (I will not be able to open it for another month :( ). Anyways, I started building a castle and I am torn between a big gate house and a small gate house and if I should cap it with a roof or not... Thoughts? Suggestions? first pic is with the taller gate house and the latter are with a smaller one (plus the last one shows the lord manor inside the castle).
  6. Thanks! It was a pleasure dealing with you. +1 for Wardancer and prompt payment as well great communication throughout the process.

    Wow.... this is amazing!!!
  8. Got the 9493 X-Wing today.... built it as soon as I got home... Love it! (though it could use 'legs" in the back to match the one in the front)
  9. Yup, I saw today the $11.99 set for $15.99, the $59.99 set for $69.99 and the $79.99 set for $99.99......
  10. ROTFLMAO! I don't think that would fly though
  11. While perusing manuals for the new Galaxy Squad sets I was impressed with the land scout from the Star Slicer set. With couple slight modifications (wider windshield being probably the biggest one) and couple resulting from lack of certain pieces I am happy with the result... oh yeah, to my dissapointment I found out that I only have 3 tires in that size :( so as far as I'm concerned, they got a flat during maneuvers and shredded the rubber..... Hmmm... not sure why one of the pics came out so light.....
  12. I'll be traveling with my wife to Europe to have our church wedding on December 29th and as we're discussing cake decorations, we decided that we're going to have a Lego couple on top. We have http://www.brickset....l/?Set=853340-1 but the "arch" that they have isn't really "cake" geared so I've been tasked with coming up with something..... it needs to be simple but cute (of course ). I'm open to any and all suggestions that might move me in the right direction. Thanks
  13. Having just picked up and built the Swarm Interceptor I have to say that while I liked the small fighter, it felt to me like couple tiny mods could make it just perfect... Funny enough that couple tiny mods turned into bigger mods and now it looks a little bit like a Klingon Bird of Prey :) First mod had to do with the front piece... the way it was out of the box it felt a bit unfinished, which was a shame as there were so many ways to take care of it... Here's what I did to streamline it. Next couple MODs can be seen in the pic below. I have moved back the technics axle into the main body a bit just so that I could place a solid brick inside of the cockpit (hated the thought of loss of pressure during decoupling from the main body). I have also modified the back piece (removed the turret) and recessed a bit the side cannons. I wasn't too keen on the engines residing on the wings. When the wings changed their position that would affect how the fighter flighs. Also I imagine that the engines on wings would put more stress on the hinges making it a weak point while high speed maneuvers and lets face it... I'd rather loose a wing and retain the engine and hope that I power through to a safe or semi safe landing (or at least stabilize in order to decouple safely) rather than be thrown into a crazy spin with only one engine when the wing with the engine falls off.... Now that I am done with the front and back, it was time to address the side and wing. Since I no longer had the engine on the wing, I had to readjust them a bit so that they would look more balanced (after removing the engine they seem a bit offset to the front). I have also recessed the side cannon into the wing to protect it from the bottom and the side. Next comes the hinge mechanism. Since the back part no longer had the engine, I had to find a clean way to "drop" it down. Small curve was all it took. Also a added a piece just below the laser in order to give it a bit of a cleaner look. Last but not least is a pic of the rear piece of the fighter and one wing next to each other..... One more thing just occurred to me... When the pod detaches, it needs some sort of means of propulsion.... so here's the small engine exhaust/output in the pod.
  14. If you have all the models, I suggest taking a picture of all of them on the table to crown the month's achievement
  15. Picked up couple extras for friends and they changed their mind.... looking to get rid of them at cost: $25+ tax = $26.93. Available in OC CA, or I"ll ship at your cost.

  17. Just over a week ago I picked up Anakin's Jedi Interceptor (9494). After putting it together, I had very mixed feelings.... while the overall shape felt good, upon closer look I wasn't too happy with the "balance" of the build. The wings seemed to be a bit big and clumsy and I hated the fact that the cockpit had so many "leaks". While pondering what to do about it, I came across a Lego Star Wars book which showed all the "historical" sets. In that book there were two sets that grabbed my attention:"7258: Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid" and "7661: Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring". Those two sets felt a bit more balanced but I didn't completely like the "undercarriage" though I loved the fact that they had landing gear.... One thing I"m not 100% still happy with though is the centerline of the under carriage... I think I almost got it... but it's not there yet.... Thoughts???? So after a morning of struggling with ideas I came up with this
  18. While looking for something else, I came across 2 Bionicle sets that I have bought new a few years back and then stashed them in a closet. Both are brand new, never opened and they come in those cases that upon removal of the front sticker become display cases: 8588 and 8591. I'm looking to get $15 each (OBO) + S&H or available for pickup in Orange County CA area. I'm also open to trades..
  19. Hulk figure is sold
  20. That's what I was originally looking for while trying to explain the two piece building :)
  21. I have couple sets for sale: 4643: Power Boat Transporter. Brand new in a box (Box shows some shelf wear), looking for $30 + S&H (OBO) 8077: Atlantis Exploration HQ. Brand new in a box (Box shows some shelf wear), looking for $35 + S&H (OBO) 30111-1: The Lab, got couple of those. Looking for $2.50 each + S&H I'm located in SoCal, - edited to remove sets sold -
  22. This is cool! Amazingly detailed.
  23. Cool MOC! Feels like one of those shops you'd find by the side of the road in a small town next to a gas station.
  24. That was my thought as well but then again it's hard to achieve the right ratios as you'd have to make it significantly wider and taller making it out of proportion to rest of the town vehicles ;) So after following that line of reasoning I came to conclusion it fits :)
