Got all four quarts in and I started working on the stables (straight up from the gate) and put down the layout for the manor house. I also included a close up of the gate working mechanism. I'm planning to put the armory above the stables and considering putting soldier quarters above that... or using the empty corner for that... though there I'm considering putting a small smithy maybe and a kitchen??? choices.. choices... choices... One last thing I'm considering is putting in a secret passageway out: it'd be from underneath the manor house and out the bedrock on the side (something on a swivel? Or maybe a concealed by a water fall???? :D

After concentrating for a while on building up the forces, I decided to get back into what LEGO is really about: building structures and vehicles and such.... so over the past day I have made a small dent.... I reused a gate prototype that I've built (it has a draw bridge and a portcullis) and I built it up on a small "mountain". I'm not entirely happy how the right side looks (I think I ended up the mountain too "flat") and I'll be readjusting it a bit, but for now I want to concentrate on finishing the last "quarter". Oh yeah, I know... I could build dungeons or something BUT for the moment, building this is about the limit of my imagination :) I tried dungeons before and they frustrated the hell out of me...

Shield is great! That's one of the things I wanna do one of these days as I like the oval shields much better. It'd be cool to get an oval black falcon shield or maybe a rectangular one? :) Btw, to share a flickr pic with a link to the stream i go to the pic, click the sharing icon and choose the one that looks like a pin and post the link it generates here :)

I know that it's easiest to nitpick but how about throwing in a cheeseslope or something in there? or some darker 1x tile (wet dirt? :) )

Here's the royal lion crownies Since my last post they grew a bit (by 1 pikeman and 1 crossbowman) Lion knights and crownies are kinda combined for me as the heraldry mixes through the years. I look at them as royal knights and have them augmented with the CMF knights (the grey shield ones). Crownies : 2 mounted 6 foot swordsman 1 standard bearer [*]Lion knights 5 mounted (one is the king) 3 foot swordsman 12 pikeman 1 axe bearer 8 crossbowman Pics aren't best... I still don't know how to best photograph them as a troop and I don't want to break them up into squads for pics...

well.. fund is not super big but loads of trading and some great deals resulted in growth for me :) Now I'm trying to figure out how to get plenty horses so that I can mount more of my knights.

Shipping for 1 or 2 figs (might be able to fit up to 4 actually and still meet the weight criteria) in a bubble envelope runs about $1.25 (no tracking). Tracking is 90cents extra (IIRC). And as all that I've shipped minifigs in bubble envelope to before will attest, they arrive in perfect condition :D

Kind of interesting how things can grow in a short time.... by now I have 2 bands of elves Tree elves grew considerably - I am now up to 12 of them. There are 4 females in the bunch. Lowland elves, haven't grown any (they're yellow faced - few available in sets nowadays and I'm more partial to fleshies at the moment). Dwarves - well, there are 10 fleshie dwarves and still only 3 yellow dwarve Dragon knights (various eras heraldry used) 4 swordsman, 2 crossbowman, 6 pikeman Black falcons (augmented with heraldry from the kingdom joust) 3 mounted, 5 pikeman and 2 bowman Lion knights and crownies are kinda combined for me as the heraldry mixes through the years. They use the bad guy heraldry from the new castle sets as well as the evil knight shields. Thre I have 2 mounted 4 pikeman 4 swordsman 4 cross bowman Now on to my "pride and joy" - troop of 44, which is still a work in progress: sir Kejtar's loyal troops. Here I use the heraldry from the new Hobbit sets (those brown shields are really really nice), the elf CMF shields (green tree), mirkwood elf poly shield, Rohan shield (they all kind of fit together and are grouped by "troops"). Lastly I use orc grey shields for one of the soldier troops. 4 mounted with the new hobbit shields 2 mounted with mirkwood elf shields 4 mounted with CMF elf shields 5 mounted with the Rohan shields 9 pikeman with Rohan shields 6 long bowman 14 pikeman with the orc shields led by an axe bearer (total 15 troops here) This makes the grand total of various troops come up to 149 (that's not counting 7 recruits who have not been assigned yet). I have to say that in the beginning of the year I didn't expect to grow that big! Now if I can only get better in taking pictures I'd post them all up!

what's the difference between X2 Rohan Warriors- $5 X2 Rohan Warriors (w/ special printing)- $5 Do you mean Rohan soldier and Eomer? Eomer's helmet is printed and Rohan Soldiers is not? Also what all do they come with?

Love the gladiators and the concept of arena, but I'm wondering about the smooth tiles on the floor.... most gladiator arenas I'm thinking off would be uneven dirt?
