Burza MK 0 - fighter bomber (prototype) WIP - looking for suggestions.

Here's the first pass at some bombs..... though I think they look more like guided missiles.... I've also modified the top just a hair. It looks a lot better in person though than on a pic..... -

So I've done some rework ;) Work was done mainly on the engines though I have also moved the pulse cannons further underneath the wings. I think this is closer to being production ready though there is still work that needs to be done on the bomb delivery mechanism as well as another engine exhaust needs to be located. -

Payload is meant to go under the wings... one of the WIP parts :) -
This is a prototype of a fighter bomber. Since it's still a prototype, it's going to get improvements and modifications before it reaches the production line. I'm open to suggestions as I seem to have hit a block...... I think that I will make the sideways portion of the wings wider so it reaches further forward along the cockpit. The engine compartment is a quick "cover it up" job. Original idea was to make room for an astromech to sit there... but I scrapped that as I didn't like the look of it (sitting too tall). Engine "exhaust" seems "lacking". Not sure if encasing/recessing it in would help....

Cool!!!

The goal for the blue is to demonstrate a different type of a weapon ;) Btw, the underside (2 symmetric) are orange and one top one is blue ;) maybe I'll change it to be a different color or type :) (it is only MK I after all).

This attack fighter is based on the Blyskawica MK IV Scout - Fighter. Extensive usage in escort capacity demonstrated that the distance of the wings in relation to the body resulted in loss of maneuverability. As a result designers have brought in the wings closer to the body and extended them forward to balance the spacecraft. Also engines were brought in closer to the centerline of the spacecraft.

Good point regarding the green translucent pieces but I've temporarily misplaced the box with all those pieces :(

Strzala is a fast attack-escort fighter. It's main role is escort fighter for heavy bombers.

Something kept bugging me with the way MK VII looked and after a few days I decided that the designers need to work on it a bit and release a new version. So the shipyard folks spent a couple of days and nights implementing updates resulting in the following fighter. Couple improvements include: - Slimmer design. the "wings" were brought in a bit and extended backwards to protect the engines. - Engines were moved back a little bit - Cockpit is protected where it joins the body of the craft.

Halny is a long range stealth scout that relies on speed and both technology as well as color scheme to be as unobtrusive and undetectable as possible. Color scheme makes it blend into a dark background of space, slim profile helps it become "invisible" to long and mid range scans. Armament is total of 6 pulse cannons, 3 on each side Overall I'm happy with about 95% of it..... I am not too happy with the top view :( It feels like it's "unfinished"....

It's nearly bullet proof... I can hold it by any piece (except for the binoculars) and it will not budge. The trick is that the base of the craft is made from two of http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87609 side by side which makes it pretty solid. Hmmmm might have some laying around..... though I think I'll still leave the engine exhaust red :)

I know...unfortunately that's all that I had handy so with that in mind I'll claim that the green cockpit windscreen works better in deepspace as it acts as an additional filter that enhances the contrast level between the deepspace and other objects (like enemy craft) .

After building the last two fighters, I realized that I'm lacking a small fighter. This one is a short range support fighter. Perfect for escort duty but not capable of any long range or even medium range duties. <edit> MK VIII - see below for pics and writeup. </edit>

Here's my newest creation. It's the short range fighter. It works great in an escort or scout function. Note the lack of heavy weaponry: it's not meant to go against capital ships. It's strengths are agility and speed that give it it's name (Blyskawica - Lightning). Another benefit of Blyskawica is the "bubble" cockpit as it allows the pilot to have full 360 degree view to help them with monitoring their surroundings.

Thanks... originally that wasn't the intention but somehow it ended up that way I know... but I'd have to take pics when my wife isn't looking ;) Since Lego at the moment is everywhere so venturing outside of the work area with any new models is somewhat frowned upon ;)

Yikes! I didn't look too close on the screen how they came out and on the phone they looked in focus :) Oh yeah... it's black on blue as I got loads of black pieces from the grab bag purchases before they got pulled off the market. Anyways, here's one that's more in focus

Work on the landing strip has slowed down to the moment as the efforts were shifted to a design and build of a prototype long range fighter. No landing gear yet.... trying to figure out how to design something that is a good balance between a small hiding fit and ability to support the spacecraft. It's got three engines for the speed and distance as well as for increased maneuverability (power distribution between engines helps with fast maneuvers) Looking at the Atlantis minifigs I realized that their uniforms resemble spacesuits :D

Cool! Have you made any other Star Trek MOC's?

My first MOC: a Super Sylph jet from Yukikaze (work in progress)

This is just beyond impressive!!! -
As I was doing my prelim layouts... well, I had to have the columns symmetrically colored :D The red square is on "arms" that allow it to go up to the upper deck from the lower one. If you look at the two pics in one it's on the upper level and in the other one it's on the lower level. Part of the beginning is already visible in the far left side of the pic. There is the half circle window with some stairs hanging down :) Thanks all for the comments :D It is :)
-
Yup :) As I will be building out under the strip and the platforms I will be replacing the columns ;)
-
Sorry for the messy pics but I'm as you can see in a middle of a design/build phase :) Looking for comments, thoughts, ideas etc. The background on this is that it's meant to be an elevated landing strip that will reside in a city (I'm mixing the two... it's a future with trucks and cars and streets where you will also have space ships :D ). Anyways, there is the landing strip with the platform lowered (the platform is meant to take spaceships from the upper level to lower platforms). You cal also see beginnings of a "control tower" that will be off to the side This pic shows a side view the spaceship platform being of to the side. I'm planning on building out office/headquarters below the landing strip and off to the other side. I'm considering putting in a garage below the main part of the structure on the right...

This brings back a lot of memories as I used to have that set when I was a kid..... Great review!
