  1. Keep coming back to this for more! I'm going to try my hand at making something as good as this when I'm reunited with my Lego after lockdown :) The temple part is my absolute favourite, and that's the best cannon design I've seen!
  2. I love this set, even with some minor reservations that others have posted, namely lack of animals and the pirate torso. In the UK I guess this set will be about £120-£140 if the US price is correct, so won't be a day one purchase but I'll get it for sure eventually.
  3. I reckon the next advent calender will be a little more like the 2019 than the 2020 one. It'll probably be based on either the Slug Club or Christmas at the Burrow as mentioned above. Both have plenty of scope for tiny side builds, but like the inclusion of an OotP Flitwick in the 2019 calender, the 2021 would have to include a Ron/Hermione figure who didn't appear in the Slug Club/Burrow scene to have the whole trio. 2019 calender gave us new Harry, Ron, Hermione and Flitwick torsos, with new face prints for McGonnagall and Flitwick. 2020 gave us new Parvati, Padma and Cho torso and skirt prints as well as the Pavati/Padma face print. I'm not sure if Cho's face print was first in the character pack of this advent calender. Slug Club characters - Slug club - Harry, Hermione, Luna, Malfoy, Slughorn, Snape, Filch, Neville, Ginny, Dean, Blaise, Cormac. Burrow characters - Harry, Ron, Ginny, Fred, George, Molly, Arthur, Lupin, Tonks, Bellatrix, Greyback. Two years of advent calenders isn't quite enough to state this with any certainty, but we haven't had an adversary yet, so perhaps no Malfoy, Snape, Filch, Grey back or Bellatrix. The Burrow figure line up is much lore appealing, with more potential for new prints. The reason I haven't included the Grimmauld Place Christmas as an option is because I'm guessing a Grimmauld Place set is coming out in 2021, and a potential 2022 calender would be a blend of the OotP and DHI scenes. That way the advent calender figures have a place to 'live'.
  4. To be fair, none of the 2010/11 sets look very accurate, and are rather a mashup of different parts of the castle. The use of those Corner Wall panels really harms the supposed Grand Staircase Tower, I have 14 of them with no use for them at all! They should have stuck to the round panels. The Great Hall I suppose is passable, and some of the interiors are quite nice though. The reason the Bell Towers (the two on the far right) keep getting suggested is that they are the only two interesting towers left. The Central Tower (in front of the Astronomy Tower) and Training Grounds Tower (behind the Bell Towers) are of the same basic shape, but without some of the nice architectural detail. The Courtyards and Bridges would make great sets, particularly for DHII.
  5. It's accurate to the films, some shops aren't featured in the books yet are now canon due to Pottermore, such as Wiseacres and possibly Potages, so I guess the names came from Rowling. What I've done is use stickered elements as the back part of shelves to give a bit more depth, like the books Dumbledore's Office for library shelves and this piece which I have loads of from the old sets for the potion cupboard: I really don't have time for stickers like the hourglass in Slughorn's office though, especially when there is a perfectly good element they could use for it.
  6. Your location says Germany, but I've never heard anyone other than an native Brit say lav before! Firstly, the Owlery is outside the main castle structure like the Quidditch Pitch or Hagrid's Hut, so it could be seen as a sort of side build and therefore may be a more interesting build than an integrated part of the castle. The pros of an Owlery set are Winter Harry/Cho, a nice Castle build and a load of owls! I saw a video, I think it was from FBTB but it's been so long since I visited that I'm not sure, and the Duelling Club was no more than a small flipping table. I can't remember the exact mechanism, but it wasn't a new thing from memory, it was familiar so had been in other sets. The stage could be built from existing parts of course, but a new Lockhart and Snape, with a cheap Slytherin robes on Malfoy, perhaps Hufflepuff robes on Justin too, with a neat flipping stage would be a really nice set. Edit - sorry Arne, can't remove the mention!
  7. I don't think that's an immediate concern as the first set is still available! Also, not much happens in the Great Hall that is set worthy other than the feasts. The Duelling Club could be just the stage and the Battle of Hogwarts doesn't need to what is essentially a bare hall. The Yule Ball was moved to the Clock tower. If a Grand Staircase Tower set came out, it could be connected to the Entrance Courtyard, or the front part of the Quad, and the Great Hall need not be redone. The last tower probably only used about 100 of the 800 odd parts in the set, so if the GST was remade these could easily be recycled to make other towers to the builder's content.
  8. The Grand Staircase Tower I would suggest is an exception. The Great Hall looks good but the GS Tower in that set is too small, very little interior and has no Headmaster's Tower. A re-release of that would be fine IMO. I'd also personally like a better Greenhouse too, but as the last one only came out this year and next year has the Herbology Classroom set, I'm not expecting an update. Nothing else needs an update though, and I reckon there are plenty of main castle buildings to see us through 2021 and at least two more years without repeats.
  9. I think it's supposed to be a Gryffindor table to go along with the previous days sofa.
  10. Frank Bryce, Weird Sisters, World Cup variants... yeah I think you've names all the important ones! There are quite a few varients of, say, Mme Maxime, but they aren't really high priority. Some Potter Stinks badge variants might be fun.
  11. I reckon the remaining GoF scenes would be served best with a Durmstrang Ship set, a second task set and any remaining figures from the Yule Ball, World Cup, and other scenes done in a CMF if needed, including Fleur and Krum from the Third Task. The Creator Ship and Barracuda Bay seem to have sold well by stock levels in my local area, which shows there is appetite for Pirate sets. I'd love a fresh wave of Pirates sets, but a Durmstrang Ship would probably sell quite well as a stand alone pirate ship.it would most likely have to be more than £70 which is perhaps the only difficult thing with this set. A Second Task set with one plate representing the stadium and another the Merpeople City would be good, but with four champions and four prizes that's already eight minifigures. Perhaps others like Rita and Barry Crouch could be used to bolster the numbers in a Durmstrang set.
  12. The rumours seem to come from people not understanding what an intimacy coordinators role is, and the casting call that says must be comfortable with nudity - there was nudity in AUJ. The Game of Thrones comparison comes from Jeff Bezos wanting to make a show a huge as GoT rather than smaller, less well seen and talked about shows like now (Vikings, High Castle, etc) That's not so say it won't end up being like Game of Thrones, but there is currently no evidence to say it will be.
  13. I got them all, and to be honest they're pretty good but when you see them next to the latest Harry Potter sets they have dated a bit. Perhaps if the Bag End Ideas set gets produced and sells well, and the Amazon show is popular, then we may have a chance of seeing more Lego LOTR. I haven't tried yet, but I would have thought medium legs for Gimli and other dwarves, and keep the Hobbit in short legs would look best, thought with printed/duel molded feet. I'd love a CMF! Like I said above, the sets are now slightly outdated, and so are some minifigures. Gandalf with a proper hat/beard piece and staffs and robe pieces for him and Saruman are two big ones I'd love, as well as variants/updates to other characters.
  14. I really like the look of these classrooms, but can't quite justify over £100 on them so will wait for a sale, even if it's only a few quid. Would like the see the Herbology students without the earmuffs though. I may save the big stickers for use on other pieces though.
  15. The CMF 21 violin player may do for the cello player in the Weird Sisters too, otherwise not much for HP fans this series.
  16. Not forgetting the violin, a great piece for a minstrel or something.
  17. CMF series 21has a dolphin (new colour I think), a violin/fiddle, a native warrior and a castaway.
  18. A couple of entries I sent in to the recent lego competition. Meeting the Fat Lady: Micro Dementor Encounter on the Hogwarts Express:
  19. I quite like HBP, the day to day Hogwarts life was back after two films which I really enjoyed, and Slughorn is so different to how I imagines him, but I like Jim Broadbent a lot. To each their own I think it is a popular choice to be a set but its the one HP location that doesn't interest me :)
  20. 2021 is 20 years of PS as well. I must admit that the final two films are my least favourite along with GoF, however I do still like them and DHII Hogwarts is my favourite version of the castle. I'd love to see what they come up with for this wave with some really interesting architecture in those films (Godric's Hollow, Shell Cottage, Love good House) and loads of great figures. One set I'm sure we'll get is Malfoy Manor, and for some reason I've always disliked that location.
  21. There are also house crest hoodies and jumpers which appear later in the series, or the Hogwarts Crest hoodie Seamus wears in GoF. Oh, and dedicated house Herbology outfits, and the plain uniforms worn before students are sorted. Or, if this idea was used in a few waves time, Lego could use different costumes for the four Heads of Houses than we've had before and only two students. Slughorn could replace Snape too. Or include the House Ghosts.
  22. I must admit I don't quite understand this argument. So far I think you could make the case that the Beauxbaton's Carriage was a little left field and the Hedwig large scale creature isn't for everyone, but that's only two £35 sets in two different waves. Apart from the Horntail set which I think most people agree was the weakest of the line so far, I'd say all sets were really high quality and also 'key'. If there is a new wave in 2022, I suppose the inclusion of Privet Drive in the 2020 wave could be seen as premature as the Ford Anglia was present in two sets on the shelves at once. Otherwise I think the balance has been pretty good. The good thing about Star Wars now is the sets since about 2012 have been pretty good, and the remakes haven't been drastic improvements so I feel content skipping, and maybe just buying the odd torso or face from sets I've skipped. I think the CMF has really helped this theme get a lovely balance between figures and sets. So far there have been only been 17 main sets. The two 'UCS' sets, one large creature set, two advent calenders, one student pack and a few GWP/Polybags have bolstered the line for those that want extra. Apart from Neville in CMF Series 2, all the figures have been great (his MBOM is brilliant, but the figure is so similar to (Harry/Hermione in Series 1). Right now my guess is another four years and two CMF Series would be the limit before any major repetitions occur in the Happy Potter line, but that's just a guess and without seeing the 2021 wave.
  23. I just realised Sprout is a new print, which seems pointless as the CMF is only about six months old. Unlike Snape which is shows him wearing his normal robes in the same way, Sprout's is just the same again. I'd like to see what's underneath the earmuffs on the Herbology robes, if anything, to see if the new prints have House markings on. A recolour of the piece used for Neville's first CMF hair would be great in black, reddish brown, dark orange, etc for the male students, and the Hidden Side girl for the female students. Using the new badges as Prefect badges is a great idea, if only there was a Hufflepuff one to complete the set! Is Cho's skin tone paler now?
  24. With recent shows like Vikings and the Last Kingdom, as well as the latest Assassin's Creed game, I'd love a Saxons vs Vikings line. Like Pirates vs Imperials, it's sort of up to you which faction is good and which is bad, but you could also have some peaceful cooperation too. Lots of lovely new shield prints and crazy hair pieces and a lovely longship with a few Castle classics - carts, forts, battering rams and outposts with some lovely MMV/MVR-like citizen stuff.
  25. Long hair looks to cover up the updated torso badge (not a fan but fine if it's just a 20th Anniversary tribute) - so Cho should look fine next to other Ravenclaw as her hairpiece covers it. I don't think there is a Slytherin with similar hair, but for Gryffindor maybe Ginny's hair will do.
