i also have no clue what that means... could it be the digital color change from yellow to red through some sort of software? this would mean that the red starfighter only exists on photo...

hm... i think anikin's original intention on telling Windu Palpy is the sith, was so palpy could be captured and interrogated. that would've ended the war. i think that was the good side in him... palpy needed to stay alive in any case... through ani's eyes there must have been two options: stay on the good side and capture Palpy or turn to the dark side to Palpy. Eventually, it's Windu who's making ani's choice by saying he's going to kill palpy. at that point ani knows two things: he won't be able to save padm

would you buy the combo, Yoda? no-one needs extra droids and most of us are happy with just the yellow starfighter, so... who's left?

He walks that weird because he isn't used to his robotic legs yet. It just like walking on...er...I can't come up with the English word so I'll just say the Dutch one, SNefroe could help me out, here it is: stelten. That's always weird in the beginning, too. But you're right about the "NOOOOOOOOO", that's stupid. you're right KhoRne, it looks as if he's walking on stilts... :P i'm not sure if it's going to beat Titanic's record, tho...

i've got two things about this set: 1) think i would change black into white. it's true doctors wear a long white coat or something and just a suit underneath it... surgeons wear green clothes... 2) i think in Belgium the general sign for medical stuff is a red cross, not the blue one. doesn't that refer to pharmacy or something? TLC used to print red crosses instead of the blue markings. wonder why they changed that. minifigs used to have red legs as well...
-
if i find this set, i'll buy a few... but i will change the black legs...

saw this red starfighter at brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....y.cgi?i=1236760 what puzzles me are these red wings. they do not exist, according to bricklink. might this be the starfighter of the combo set?

i have never seen a doctor with white shirt and black legs tho... :P

the green disc ship is the weirdo of the family... in real life, you cannot always have great looking ships/cars/... to do a specific job. many specialised airplanes today are ugly, but do the job they're supposed to do. that was also the idea behind this design... the other larger craft are also quite strange... that's just reality stepping in and telling me that a ferrari cannot be a sports car, family car and a truck at the same time... i will even add new (green) sensor packages to the awacs craft, making it even uglier :P :P It has a green disc because you cannot always chose the color of the sensors. sometimes, sensors demand certain unpainted types of materials, in this case, it has to be green. it has to be green, because i will add another "sensor boom" with lots of "blade antennea" (part x56) (and these only come in green); personnaly, i don't know why they're using these things, i only know that they do (in my universe, anyway) at first, i was going for the two wings... unfortunately, i do not have wings (pairs) in all these colors. yeah... you got me there, buddy :P however, the US air forces used to apply their "stars 'n bars" on different sides of opposite wings... so, it's not unusual to have assymetrical decorations, but it's not particularly standard procedure either. i'm also not eager to use too many colors, because it makes these craft too lively... there's also the question of visibilty. too many colors will put you in a disadvantageous position in a fight...

thanks for these kind words, KMOI 1) i'm still waiting for a few parts. i'll probably add just small details in the future. 2) I very often start with a certain structure in mind and see how it goes... in this case, TLC released the yellow starfighter. i modified that one (there are pics of it on this forum somewhere), than i thought "it still looks like a thing you only fly on a Sunday, far away from any danger, just to enjoy flying around. so why not create a real fighter version out of this? that's what i did. i got rid of the flashy yellow, turned everything into shades of grey... and added a couple of things... I followed the same procedure for my snowspeeder (see pic). i started with tlc's model, and changed the things i didn't like. the good thing about this, is that you have 60-70% of all the parts if you buy the official model, you then have to rely upon your own collection of parts and/or buy the rest at bricklink... 3) i very often follow a few principles when i'm building small models: a) i try to turn every craft into an individual craft by using different shades of grey. it indicates that some parts of the craft have been replaced by another because of an accident in the past, whatever... b) i try to give different craft different colors, as if the pilot himself chose to fly around with a white wing or a red wing,... sometimes i use parts in the same color as the craft's color, for instance, i gave the white fighter white guns instead of grey guns. the pilot wanted to have white guns... it just makes your model more credible... i like my models to be that way. it also happens in the real world of airplanes, btw c) i try to build multifunctional craft. after all, these machines will be so expensive that we simply won't be able to buy many different types; one fighter should be able to do everything, or lots of things in any case. d) parts also have to be compatible with parts of other types; after all, you won't always have a supply ship or a depot in the vicinity of your base, so you'll need to take parts from other ships from time to time ... hope that answers your question...

thanks, Yoda. there are four types: 1 awacs (the one with the green disc) 2 weasels 4 updated fighters (white/tan/brown/medium blue) 4 normal fighters (purple/dark red/blue/yellow) i need to complete them with parts i've ordered from bricklink. the tiles and the engines, for instance, still need some work...

Luigi, I am right, this is total BS: Lucas just put this crap story because he F*d up the OT, especially at the end of ROTJ >:( Its like he is justifying his 2005 BS version of the OT, that is really pathetic for real fans of the OT (pre 1997!!!!!!). wow!!! master yoda spared no- one this time, ... well... almost no-one... I think Obi one, Windu and the emperor gave a splendid performance, but then, ... these people are actors :P sure, the opening scene with r2d2 was a bit of a comedy, but i can live with it. it's not annoying, like jar jar binks; granted, it may be a bit over the top... the balance between r2d2 and 3po was gone, you hardly got to see 3po, even tho i think they did best when they were together... i don't see why Lucas did not choose to create a 3 hour film, like the lord of the rings films. it would have given him more options to make a stronger film, i think, without necessairily losing the dynamics of the film; if you look at the last LOFR film, you can clearly see a lot of action, but also quite a lot of intense scenes of Frodo being consumed by the ring. you don't see that in sw, even tho both men are in the same type of crisis.

Technic giant crane 8421 - when's it coming?
snefroe replied to gylman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
according to my catalogue it's announced for August and the price would be 150 USD -
also, did anybody see george lucas? he's supposed to be in there somewhere... i wonder why TLC chose to build the turbo tank and the wookiee attack. after all both sets aren't playing a very important role in the film at all. you hardly see the tank...

The speeder / fighter that is standing at the platform where Grevious dies. Obi steals it afterwards... It is looking a little bit like a Vulture droid, just more bulky and a real ship and not a Droid... there is an official name for this thing. something like "Utapaun bomber", i recall... it's in the sw book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...1612158-6189450 i would love to see this one in lego, also the other aircraft, that ani uses later in the film, the shape is like half a circle, with the cockpit in the center of it by the way, these vulture droids have rockets... did they have those in (ep1? ep2?) as well?

perhaps there were too many bad guys, so Lucas couldn't really focus on just one... Mcgreggar did a very good job this time... you can clearly see this obi wan turning into the old Obi Wan did you see the blue jedi starfighter? so we at least have a yellow, red and blue starfighter :P i was also a bit surprised to see r2d2 being so "active", killing robots in the process. i really liked that opening sequence... all the way to killing dooku. i think that was a natural consequence of anikin's state of mind, however, it was weird to see Windu (almost) doing exactly the same with the emperor, 'cause he's not supposed to do that as a Jedi... I was also surprised to see that two jedis almost immediately fell in the fight between the four jedis and the emperor. surely they were better than that. i also feel that the duel between obi wan and ani lost a lot of intensity because of the scene with Yoda and the emperor was constantly stepping in. the production of this film, including the music, could have been better, i think, more intense... the way i see it, this film has two major stories and they're both extremely dramatic, tragic almost; one is the fall of the republic, the conflict between good vs evil; the other is the human tragedy of two individuals who love each other and could have had a great life together, but somehow, it all falls apart... i think Lucas could have done a lot more with that story... I also don't understand why this film has a pg13 rating in the us... the killing of the jedis was, from an emotional point of view, one of the highlights for me, one of the only moments during the film that touched me...

i saw the 15.30 show. about 100 people showed up. i don't really know what to think of this film. 1) it's great entertainment. if you like the star wars universe, then you won't be disappointed 2) to me, however, there are two parts in this film: the part before the jedi killings and the part after that; the part before is brilliant, better than i expected. at that point i thought "this is the best sw film ever"; than there was part two... and the film crashed... i won't go into much details not to spoil it for others, but one example: the acting of N. Portman is not convincing and her story line is a joke, especially when hearing that anakin is part of the dark side. she just sits there, not really in shock or histerical or anything, she doesn't cry, shout,... whatever... she doesn't "act" at all... All right, i'll give a second problem: there's no epic battle. sure, vader and Obi are fighting each other, but i didn't feel anything during the fight. i wasn't excited or thrilled or whatever... it was just another battle between jedis... no big deal... in any case, this battle doesn't even come close to the duel between Luke and vader in ep6 3) the most brilliant element is the cgi. unfortunately, you can't create the greatest film of all time, only based on scenery, you need a good story, good actors and a very good script; that's not the case for ep 1, ep 2 and ep 3 after part two, this film doesn't even reach my top 10 of all time... but i will see it again and i will buy the dvd, because there's so much to see in this film. I've also seen lots of craft that i would like to see as a lego set one day...

i'll go tomorrow... i just can't wait much longer than that

i'm not sure Greenpeace will agree with this, Lord Vader... i'd think twice about this... before you know it, they'll write all sorts of anti-emperor Double T slogans on your precious tie fighters... :P
