yep, the alternate model for the uplink is great. it's seems i'm not the only one who likes the alternate models more than the release models. the alternate bike for the Phantom set is a lot better as well...

thanks, just checked it out... sure it's nice, but why do i have the feeling that i've seen it all before? i don't think it's exceptional or special. i even find the animation rather primitive. i've seen much better in that regard, also for kids... i still don't see what lego has got to do with this...

that's pretty nice :oD so what do you think this wasp of yours is supposed to do in the universe? does it have any landing gear? what's the use of these 2 white blades? i'd probably replace them by something to house cameras or whatever... there is one major flaw, tho... (here it comes, yoda :P ) i see a cockpit, but what about the interior of the cockpit? it looks kinda primitive

1) can't speak for others, but i still have no clue what Avatar is all about. Sure, there are websites and stuff, but to my knoledge it's not on tv, nor is it part of my world 2) i'm afraid this is yet another Minifig based theme, meaning, like the batman theme, most attention will go to the minifigs, not the buildings, boats or any other object. but at least the batmobile and the other things associated with batman are part of the collective memory. Avatar isn't. Why do you think is the sw line so successful? 3) we still haven't seen any lego set of this theme so it's rather difficult to talk about it.

well EB is a community of people. they're coming and going when they choose to. lots of members of a year ago are gone, others have taken their place... sure that leads to bumbs along the way , no drama... From what I've picked up EB is being transformed also to accomodate the new and the old better than ever before, so i wouldn't really "go on red alert" just yet. however, it would be nice if we could stop posting on vcvc, dark 1, and other banned members... they're no longer relevant ...

the admins may feel at one point that you're not behaving like a normal member. as is mentioned in an earlier post, if you double post, spam, stuff like that, they will block you're access to the regular forum and only allow you to post in a very special part of eb where no one else, except the admins has access to... in other words, you'll be completely isolated from the community. whatever you say or do, no one else will be able to read your posts or respond to your posts. the idea is that you take that as a warning. The warning comes down to this: "Behave! Change to way you're acting on eb for the better or you will be thrown out!" after a while, the admins will grant you a second chance and allow you back in the eb-community. Sne, I told Dark1 several times to use capital letters in his posts! *twisted* I feel The Chamber is calling for.... our belgian friend!!! |-D |-D |-D :P :P :P :P a while back TT threatened me he'd change my title into "Rubber Duck" I replied I'd ban myself, but it seems you can't do that :P :P anyway, i like talking to myself so the chamber wouldn't work on me; by the time i got out i'd have 2000 posts extra! :P :P

both viking sets looks great, but i'm afraid it's also bad news. remember the last Alpha team? they had one year of 5 sets or so and then another two extra sets later on. Then it died; no more alpha team... it looks to me the same thing is going on with vikings: 1 year of 5 sets or so followed by just two extra sets the year after that...

i guess you're refering to the battlements on the ship. Early war ships used to have this type of defence, however, i would replace the blue parts by brown parts from for instance, Fort Legoredo. after all, it's supposed to be wood and i don't think a war ship would be going to war in "flashy" colours...

Member Titles - Questions and Answers
snefroe replied to languages's topic in Forum Information and Help
asking for a title is like asking for a job as minister, the more you ask for it, the less chance you're gonna get one, and if you do, knowing our title's giver Yoda, the greater the chance you're not gonna like it.... -

:P the only exo force set that survived the first half hour, yoda, is the uplink speeder, and that's only because i can't do anything else with the orange parts, unlike the sentry's parts... so this new fleet i'm supposed to have only exists in your vivid imagination :P :P

looks great! :oD i think it will even look better if you add the stickers

you're probably right... i can see there are slight differences on the right eyebrow and eye but that probably happened during printing

i found this poster in a cardboard box in the toy shop. some one else may have seen this before, but it's new to me: two things: the MF with the green bike has a blue classic space torso! :oD nice touch, TLG! second, i don't recognice the head of the male minifig to the left of the green bike. it looks like an HP head, but it's not. i can post a close up of this one if you want

just out of curiousity, do you know wether the election results in Quebec are similar to the rest of the country?

Superior to what? For every advantage a fortress has, there are bound to be disadvantages. For example, a castle built on a hilltop may be more difficult to seige, but it may also be difficult to re-supply. Furthermore, to find such geography may force builders to situate the castle in a less strategic point, making it easier for invaders to gain access to desired territory. Most castles were successfully seiged by cutting off supply routes and starving the occupants to death. Ultimately, a successful seige will depend on alot of factors which go well beyond the soundness of the fortress itself. From a design standpoint, concentric castles were some of the most impressive fortresses of the middle ages. They were not dependant on geography, and the two-walled nature of concentric structures made them difficult to seige, even if the invading army managed to occupy the outer ward. Trying to give a definitive answer as to what type of fortess is the best is simply unreasonable. Everything is situational. Later. hm... i guess carcassonne is the best example of a concentric fortification, however, that concept didn't last very long. There was an improved version of the concept, tho. I think it was designed by the french Minister of defense of Charles XIV of France. it's a well known design i just don't know its name anymore... Still, being in a higher position is always an advantage, whatever the situation you are in. Sure it's more difficult to reach the place but in time of war, it's always a good thing to be in that position... in fact, this was one of the reasons why Napoleon lost the battle of Waterloo... Second, a hill always is the best strategic position of an area to build a castle, because it allows you to have visual access to the area you're controling. it allowed you to see the ennemy long before it's a threat. you'll have enough time to prepare your army and to evacuate the village or city. Usually, it also controls the main roads thru your territory. Ultimately, i think we're comparing apples with oranges here... there's a difference between a castle or fortress and a fortification, which is basically a design to protect a city or village, like the concentric design. Very often you will find a castle on hill close the a fortified city. Both are compatible.

you're right, it's not an army theme. however, there used to be a time when the company was categorically against any form of violence. All classic space ships for instance, weren't warplanes or fighters to fight weird creatures or other minifigs, but science vessels, transport ships... now the element of violence is all over the place. Castle is even worse... Can you honestly say "they'll never do it"? i can see a moment when lego tells the public: "Fierce competition forces us to explore new paths. We need to take back market share by producing products that young boys want. And they want militairy stuff..."

that's a good question! i also wonder what happened to alpha team and what will replace vikings, because i don't think they'll continue the viking line in 2007... i'm also wondering if the 2006 city sets are good enough to consolidate the success of the 2005 city line.

didn't you see the f-16 of the blue pod then?

did you ever try to use silver underneath the drawing to give it the shining colors of the original?

welcome :oD you'll find that several members here are the scum of the universe: we 've got Vader himself posting here, we have this old retired creature yoda here as well, however, he's turned to the dark side, and he loves to ban people... but if you behave, he'll be as charming as a frenchman can possibly be we also have GOD here, the trick is to avoid this one when he's having a bad day you've already met Mister Phes. he's ok, just tell him you love pirates and he won't do you any harm... oh... the emperor is here as well... after a closer inspection of the forums, you'll find he has a leathel sense of humor that will kill you if you don't watch out... then there are several knights and vassals, others think they're vikings deep down... in general, all weird people, so you'll most likely fit in easily... ;)

Do you guys think that with the addition of actual guns in Batman line (any good discussion of the addition of modern guns into Lego anywhere?) we may soon see some Military lego lines? i think it's definitely going into that direction. I think they're trying to find out how far they can go with these realistic weapons/violence. in fact, you can clearly see an evolution in the use of weapond: last year they had the US dino line with lots of weapons, i remember there were many remarks in the community about the violence in the line. Lego even decided to produce a seperate European line without the guns. But i didn't hear any protest anymore after the actual release of the line. I never heard parents say "this is waaaaay too violent for you, you can't get this", in fact, to my knoledge, this dino line sells better than the viking line... Every one just seems to have accepted the dino line... then a new theme took it one step further: exo force, clearly a line to more violence, entirely based on guns, rockets,... this time, lego did not decide to produce two lines, but only one... it seems it will become popular also. and now it seems that the use of violence in lego lines is allowed and so they're taking it another step further: in the batman line, they will no longer use violence on fantasy but on realism... surely one step beyond that is the creation of war line of some kind

usually admins close topics because we've had them before or because they don't make any sense at all... instead of closing these, why don't you just delete them all together?
