to the right of every post there are two buttons. one says "quote" the other "reply"; i use the reply button to quote, so where's the quote button for?

these are just preliminary sets, so i wouldn't focus on the details for now. for all we know, we may get just the usual pieces instead...

i bought four old sets second hand yesterday: 1) the old police station 6384 2) the american race car 6646 3) a pick up truck 6660 4) a small police car 6506 i've always wanted that police station, but i was into classic space in the early 80's so i missed out on it. Compared to the modern police stations, it looks simple but it has everything you wanted to have for a police station: an HQ, a chopper, MFs, a car and a motorcycle. What i love the most tho was the garage door that can be pulled up. that was pretty neat for a set of 1984! the other three are from my dark age and i basically picked them out at random... i just know that'ill be buying the others one day as well, so it doesn't really matter what i'm buying first... it's just to complete the collection...

i prefer this one tho: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=166166

it's nice, sure, but not for me... it's already difficult to "sell" lego as a hobby to other people i know. SW provides me with a decent chance, but i wouldn't stand a chance with spongebob

at that level, people usually don't stay for long... i'm not really in the position of evaluating his work. ambassadors or website admins who have been in direct contact with him are probably far more qualified to give some sort of a response to the news, but i can't say that he did brillianly. i mean the communication with the community (basically websites) was not particularly great. sure, he set up the ambassador program, but we're still waiting for the effect of that on the real product... but again, my info on his work is very limited...

besides, there are lots of clips on the official site and fansites. they'll give you an idea what it's all about, just do a google search...

welcome! you can see we still don't have our specialy made smilies back on line... i think that's because Apo's playing more with Aredhel than with EB, but one day they'll be back, don't worry   "Eurobrickers" hm... haven't heard that before, so i guess you've already made your first contribution to EB!
-
listen, it's really not usefull to create these type of games/topics for an EB forum. the community is clearly not interested in these topics. to be blunt: you're wasting your time with this on EB... so if you're really into these games i suggest you go looking for a website where people do appreciate your innitiative and your work, but based on the responses you've had, i'd have to assume EB is not such a website...

ah... then there's no problem! thanks for clearing that up!

think i saw this yesterday evening... i don't really like the design, but the interior is very nice....

really? if you click on "my controls", you'll see this small section to the right called "your account summary", underneath that title you have "email address" followed by your actual address

i think this question of logistics and supplies is a bit of a non-issue here. i mean, your longest lines of logistics went from the individual farmer to the castle, but that's it. apart from food and wood, there wasn't really much to supply. there were also huge storage facilities to make thru the winter... sure, you need a road to your castle but that's pretty much it. don't forget, the middle ages are characterised by feodalism, except for the late middle ages, there were no real national entities/ structures/institutions... so your entire society is organised on a very small scale... many people also seem to think these small communities were at constant war and therefore needed heavily fortified villages and huge castles. that's not the case. in a case of a conflict, it was usually diplomacy that solved the problems, a worse case scenario would be the political intervention of the king... i don't know if you've ever read documents of the time, but i can asure you, solving conflicts was a very civilised matter. the Dark Ages, were in fact, not dark at all, quite the contrary... thank hollywood for all the misunderstandings... fortifying cities is a thing of the late middle ages, between 8th-10th centuries most cities were still very small, there was no need and no money to get decent fortification... in times of trouble, the people sought protection in the castles... later on, cities became very powerful, like the cities of Flanders and the major cities in France. the question how to defend the city basically came down to "how much are we willing to spend on it?" Sure concentric walls would have been nice, but waaaaay too expensive and extravagant. maintenance was far too expensive and very often cities were not allowed to have a standing army ... and don't forget, a city had other obligations as well, like building churches, very, very, very expensive as well so i guess the largest cities would simply accept a strong wall and a few towers. they just didn't need more...

isn't there a way to "shield" the email address from the public? I mean, in the former EB version there was a link saying "send me an email" or something, but you didn't see the actual address; now that address is clearly visible for every one. can't you prevent the public from seeing the address?
-
hm... so this is yet another spin off of the sw-world? it has nothing to do with the upcoming tv series, right?
-
happy birthday! have a great day!
-
shouldn't you work on the smilies instead of doing this? :-D :-D  anyway, both are strangers to me... i did buy the fortress, never assembled it... i'm keeping the brown parts to build a western fort one day and most of the other non bionicle/technic parts are in other mocs....
-
happy birthday! hope you get lots of lego!
-
just saw the main page... very nice!! now we're only waiting for our smilies, Apo

isn't it weird that we already have a pic of the calender, but still nothing on spongbob or avatar?

I have to disagree with that statment. I very much fear what the world is coming to in the next 20 years as a result of intolerant religious fundamentalism. I don't think this is a simple matter of politics. While the West has high minded debates on what is right and what is wrong, Islam, a religion followed by a billion people, has been hijacked by a school of thought and a ruthless minority that do not see the world in the same way as us spoiled morally ambivalent Westerners. They know what is right and what is wrong, and are not interested in a debate. It only takes a committed minority to lead a fearful and timid majority into a course of events that the majority, or any sensible group of people speaking calmly to each other, would not want. This has happened many times in recent world history (WW1, WW2, cultural revolution, Cambodia, etc), and mass media and weapon proliferation have only made the possibility easier and more deadly. There's some bad S**T coming our way - first in the Middle East, then Europe, and finally North America. Ironically, the only Westerners capable of resisting what is going to come are going to be the equally disturbing fundamentalist Judeochristians - less bloodthirsty perhaps, but equally certain of their "rightness". Moderates on any side will not do well. I think that many things we took for granted 10-20 years ago like separation of religion and state, freedom of association, freedom of travel, freedom of idea exchange without fear of retaliation are going to change, and we will look upon those 20-30 years between the end of hte Cold War and the beginning of the Faith Wars as a golden area, now almost over. Like Jinzo said..... the reaction to it all was political: ambassadors were called back, politicians interfered, and what happened in Palestinia was most likely orchestrated... here in Belgium, this thing got into the news because of the political consequences, nobody cared about the fact that some newspaper published a drawing of Mohamed or portrayed Mohamed in a disrespectful manner... It's not about that at all... not so long ago there was a highly successful moslim woman pzerforming as a stand up comedian, the only thing she did was making people laugh with her religious jokes, mosloms, jews, everybody felt it was great!... i don't feel that western freedom or values are at risk at all. sure, some sections of the media are trying to push it in that way, but in reality i'd have to say media are writing whatever they want to... in fact, they're even going waaaaay to far. for instance, i don't think the media should be writing about the divorce of Kim Clijster's parents; None of their business. the thing is, we're going too far with freedom of speech, we seem to think you can say or write whatever comes to your mind, sometimes even hoping to get harmfull responces like Van Gogh, ... people should respect unwritten boundaries, we do that here as well, so why not in real life? that's being respectfull towards each other, and has nothing to do with freedom of speech...

Do not adjust your set... it's yellow... and square
snefroe replied to Admiral Giddens's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
it's great ;) in only have a problem with the cargo door. i mean, can't you add yellow hinges so you can open up the front section as well, like the back side of the classic space ships? it just seems to me that you would be able to accept more cargo if you do that... -
as apo just said, they're still setting things up... be patient

i wouldn't really take it serious. this doesn't have much to do with religion, but with politics. Some politicians in the Middle East are using this incident to criticise the West and especially the EU. Denmark is after a close ally to the US and a rather small state within the EU. so it's an opportunity to point the finger at Europe. Usually, it's the other way around... i've been in the middle east a few times and in my experience, moslims are perfectly capable of laughing with their own religion, jews are even world famous for this. what stings is the fact that it's the West again, criticising, or making fun of moslim society. it's quite normal, really, i mean, flemmish people laugh with their own deficencies, but that doesn't mean they like the Dutch joking about it as well...
