this ucs is probably my favourite... it's more or less MF scale... it has great details and it's really fun to build, so i'm not complaining

what a brilliant idea!! Yeah!! we must do that!! Surely they'll listen to reason!!  they must!! it's only logical.... .... right?
-
well i guess not everybody follows everything into the smallest details :$ personally, i like this set. this is ideal if you're a town fan. now, we only need that garage, bar, bus stop, gass station,... oh well... it will happen.... eventually... one day... when lego sees the light... ok... in a very long time... we may not live to see it... but our children will... perhaps... if they're lucky... ok... they may not be so lucky... but then...

1) everybody is allowed to put his website address in his sig as far as i know. you can advertise all you want in there (as long as it's civilised), no one will shoot you for it... 2) it really isn't that difficult to copy the link of the pages into a post; even i can do that, and that says a lot! 3) the admins need to have a rather strict policy on what people are posting ; as you know, we've seen too much spamming in the last few months. it's better that they keep a rather firm grip on this for the moment, just to make sure that things don't get out of hand.... 4) EB has always supported people to build mocs and still does. just follow the general procedure and they will be gratefull for your contribution to this website.

welcome! it's a bit quiet here for the moment, but i guess that wil change once the batman sets become available. of course it's alright to post mocs here!

please not yet another super hero license!

i think a majority of town fans would agree with this. the only problem is that lego is simply more expensive. I'd like to think that can easily be fixed by cutting down on profits or anything, but i'm afraid that this time it actually is because lego sets are more expensive to produce. Lego has more parts which are also more sophisticated, they also need a higher quality of plastics... Playmo also doesn't really have any competition like lego has, so they're not really price driven, but product driven. they're able to only focus on their product, without having to much to think about price. With lego, it's just the other way around: price comes first. I also think that lego has decided on the wrong strategy for Town/city. they're stuck in this 4-5 set town theme, like hospital, police,..., that doesn't leave much room for flexibilty. In that context, they just don't seem to be able to produce 10 small and very different town sets. a shopkeeper i know told me once it's because they hardly get any profit of those smaller sets... I just hope they realise now that their customer is far more demanding now then ever before, so if they want to keep him/her, they better produce what he/she wants, in this case, town sets...

yep! that was the one i was refering to

ok... if we are going to show some pics of our favourite trains, here are a few mine. To be clear about this: those are not my pics, they're just my favourite locs... http://www.dieselloconline.net/routes/L42/5133c.jpg http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...&tt=24&ei=UTF-8 i'd love to have a lego version of those green-yellow trains  also, the gray-yellow train looks a lot like the lego train of last year...

to me it's a question of principles, really. Lego's main market is europe, it's a european company, so it's only logical to have lots of European train models. I don't think many european train builders are waiting for those heavy american freighter trains. they're waiting for the typical models lego used to build, ages ago: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=727-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=7755-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=7760-1 it's like cars. you don't drive around in this huuuuge american car in a European city. they're just not compatible... the thing is, in the last few years, lego has spent lots of time and effort into designing great american models, and we poor Europeans, we got crappy designed metroliners! i think lots of lego fans would choose the european style if lego were only to produce models of that detail... guess what i voted

hehe kiku beat me to it... honestly, we've had enough of these game topics. we've seen quite a few of those, most have not been very succesful and hardly have anything to do with lego. Several other members have posted, almost complained, about this phenomenon in the past and after having talked about this particular topic with some admins i ask them now to please close this topic and please close this type of topic automatically in the future. I'm also asking the other members not to start new game topics. If you want to play these games then i'd suggest you ask for a seat in the other game topics that are unfortunately already running here, or look for a site that actually appreciates these subjects. again would like to point out that Eurobricks is a site for lego fans to talk about lego stuff, like sets, TLG, themes,... EB is not a good place to play a game like this, even when the notion of lego is somewhere involved in it...

surely one canadian bl-shop can help you out there?

it's a good question. i've never seen real european lego trains. sure, we now have the ice train, but that's basically german. We still haven't seen the typical cargo trains (the green -yellow diesel locs; "the dutch Hondekop",...) you see in the Benelux and Germany. No crockodile either.... Lego has never been a European company from that point of view. They mostly focused on American heavy locs, as if Europeans are really waiting for those... Anyway, i love both, even tho they're expensive...

nono visa/ mastercard is a different thing compared to maestro. maestro is an international banking system that is used by most banks in europe. It's usually printed on your regular card, but it's not a seperate credit card system. It's just a way to allow most europeans, to pay in Europe without having a real creditcard. For instance, i can use my regular card in germany, only because the maestro mark is on it... otherwise i'd have to use my visacard, because the germans very often don't have the banking system of Belgium and Holland... So there's no real entity behind Maestro, it's an international cooperation between many financial institutions... i don't think you'll ever see maestro at work, tho, unless they tell you... Mastercard-Visa are credit cards from private financial institutions. If you have an account at your bank, you can apply for an extra card, a credit card. Your bank will then apply for a visa on your behalf. If you're working and have a decent income, you won't have a problem getting one. The bank will give you then a new card that looks pretty much the same as your regular card, only there's a logo of visa or mastercard on it, indicating that's your visacard... In reality it goes like this: you pay with your visacard, at the end of the month the financial company behind visa (in my case BCC) will send you a document with all the stuff you bought with your visa, and at the same time, it will send the bill straight to your bank. i don't think you can use maestro on paypal, you're gonna have to apply for a creditcard, i'm afraid...

that's a very nice piece of junk you've build there! can't wait for the upgrades!!
-
but surely you can still find the old ones?

my plan to buy a couple every week has failed, i'm afraid to say. they're all gone! can't find a shop with pods anymore... it seems to me that lego really has a problem with their production capacity...
-
To be honest, a 2 by 4 brick made in 1960 is compatible with today's products, the quality was so good. That's where Lego face a fundamental problem, where food retailers and razor makers like gillete don't. The product lasts. I don't think that's such a problem, because there's this urge to have more and more bricks so you can modify your models. the success of the bulk buckets is proof of that... there are also special bricks you always seem to lack, like printed tiles, specific modified pieces,... if you want those, it's either buying sets or visiting BL/SAH besides, they do get older, they loose colors, especially the white bricks...

i agree. 150 dollars in the US is most likely about 170

well..; lego france is known for taking weird decisions ... they also indicated they won't sell pods, the lego shop in the middle of Paris doesn't have a pab,... Perhaps it's just one of those unexplainable mysteries of the lego universe.

they're not overly optimistic about 2006 tho...

isn't it part of a strategy to get more transactions thru SAH?
