i bought this set for the alternate model! it's cool, bu it think you need to change the hinge positions a bit, yoda...
-
that's way better, it reminds me of a model i've seen either in a film or on brickshelf...

i've got the model here in front of me and i have to say, it's bad... it's a gun with four rotors on it. it's not a real minifig model, it's meant to be used as a gun and that's it. yes, you can put a minifig on it, but it doesn't really make it any different. it doesn't have the credebility of a space ship or whatever it's supposed to be. it's a lego model in its most extreme "playability" version... the rotors a huge, but they're terribly painted. it's not dark grey, or bley or black, the outer circle is black, the inner circle is grey but i'm not even sure it's one of the shades we know of. then they added these "clouds" of grey for the outer circle and black for the inner circle... i'm not sure what it's supposed to be. anyway, they pretty ruin all the possibility of using these parts for much else... the stickers are a nuasance. i think a lot of dads are going to be annoyed by these... i like these robots, but not the one of this set. the torso is again painted in an unfamiliar shade of grey, but it's either not done very well or perhaps it was ment that way, but you clearly see trans yellow bellow the gray paint. i don't know why it's there and i don't really see any use for it... one good thing: the gun works! i'd give it a 3/10, because i'm such a nice person...

oops... ok you better close this topic then or move it...

thanks sam... wow the batwing looks quite different this way about cat woman... what does the headgear look like? i mean, we all know the headgear of batman looks like a helmet, is that also the case with catwoman?

thought you guys might be interested in the alternate isd model . it's on fbtb: http://www.fbtb.net/images/6211_ISD_altern...ate_model_1.jpg i don't think it's very spectacular, but here is it anyway...

i don't think producing a christian product has anything to do with being responsable as a company toward society. Playmobil produces these christian sets because they want to make money on sentiment and religion, like so many other companies. nothing more 1) i'd like to see that research report that states it's good for business NOT to produce girls and women. After all, the argument here is that boys prefer to play with male MF's, that doesn't prohibit lego from producing sets with male and female MF's... I don't believe sales will decrease because of a female MF in a set. especially with lego, where all MF-parts can easily be replaced. so the argument is rubbish! 2) but even if there's a commercial argument, i still think lego has a social obligation not to create artificial worlds based on "gender discrimination". sure it's not real discrimination, because we're not talking about real people, but the decision not to create female city MF's clearly exclude women from getting a job as construction worker, police officer, firefighter,... in the lego city. I think our minister for "equal opportunities between the sexes" would not be very happy with that. If they're just following commercial arguments, i'd say they're cowards... I'd say they ignore their responsabilities towards society... There's clearly a smell of sexism here... or at least a lack of courage... 3) i'm also wondering what the implications are in regard to the views and opinions of the boys that grow up with this type of lego world. Does this stimulate the view that only men deserve a good position in society? I'd like to know if there's an answer to this question in that research report as well.

i only saw this news item by coincidence on cnn... it was hardly mentioned on belgian tv and radio, but then i'm not living in a country where politicians and media try to scare the people with this subject in order to win politically...

thanks! yes i'm addicted!

not on the early version. on the early version it's the emergency handle to blow up the side door mechanism ... you remember the sory on the third prototype? it crashed, and the pilot died. it happened because the emergency procedures were far from good. one of the problems was a lack of a fire extinguisher, to cut a long story short, they added one and they changed the interior at the same time...

the katana fig is great! :oD so what exactly are these parts: a katana, a black exo force hand, and then what? looks like a black jedi sword (a handle and a bar) *wacko*

it's from 1999. g... if they still have it, you're really lucky

why? just for the baseplate?

it's from a classic value pack, so it seems: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=4293-1

oh yes... well i still have to write that down in an eb post... but you haven't been paying attention, have you? :P the engines run on electricity, feeded by internal batteries... the batteries will be recharged when the pod isn't active... the engines are on the outside (those sections with the white rotors). the idea is that they operate like a rotor on a small sub. the next photo shows the batteries. they are these grey-yellow tanks underneath the cockpit... there are two versions of the cockpit, the left one is the early version, the middle one is the modern version. i'll explain later when i found the chapter of the cockpit, my favourite... for some reason :$

the other two ships have different jobs to do, depending on the payload they're carrying. One usually carries heavy weaponry, the other serves as a "wild weasel-wizzard" platform. this pod has a bit of both, but usually carries two guns, like the one he has on his right arm. it's a heavy laser cannon, the one you use against very well protected structures or vehicles. However, you can replace these by the brown missile launcher or the small dark gray rocket launcher. both aren't ideal weapons tho. the rocket launcher has a very limited capability and the large missile launcher is waaay too heavy for a small pod. i think they only tested the weapon once, but i don't think it's in service. Besides, the laser cannons are attached to mobile arms, they allow you to hit targets where ever you see them. needless to say, these arms follow the pilot's irises, so they're pretty fast... oh yes... there are two other types of guns, but you can only see them in the first photo. they're all the way to the left. the four-barrelled gun is pretty good against (light) infantry troops, the other is some kind electronic weapon. it's crap, really. the pilots even think the company payed the generals to get it into service... the other devices are part of the wild weasel-wizzard warfare. In other words, this equipement is used to search and detect all sorts of electronic, magnetic,... devices the enemy uses to search and destroy the pods. Once the systems have detected a radar, for instance, it will download its location into the radar control guidance systems of the other pods. they will then destroy the radar. that's what this pod is carrying on his left arm. sure it's heavy, but it's a vital part of the pod's defences. the other containers you see on the ground are part of the "wizzard-job": their only job is to jam all sensors, frequencies, transmittors,... of the ennemy. they're basically for shutting down the ennemy's communication... oh the cylindrical thing is a device that allows the pod to see things thru myst, clouds,... stuff like that. this particular pod (88-488805; 88-805) has four engines instead of two. it's a bit like a train having two locomotives, they combine their power in order to increase capability. they could have chosen a bigger engine as well, i suppose...

a typical flight of four has two medium attack pods, like the one on this photo. on the left side there's a radar control giudance system and several hardpoint for laser granates. They're air to ground missiles, but instead of carrying conventional ammo, it has an energy capsule that explodes when it his the target. it's an explosion of pure energy. the radar control system directs the thing to its target. Usually a pod has about four of them and it's mainly used to destroy armored vehicles, bunkers,... the pod carries medium laser cannons on the right side. they're easy to use and don't require too much energy, even tho rather primitive... Still, it provides the pod with enough fire power, and it doesn't compromise the ship's stability...

i took this photo a while back just before the start of a "open day" at a Pod Base of star Command. it shows a typical flight of four, yes, four! the one to the left has an active camouflage device and the untrained ground crews couldn't find it to switch it off... however, it gives me the opportunity to show you all types of undercarriages pods use. the platform that carries the camouflaged pod is an anti-gravitational platform that allows groundgrews to transport pods without the fuss of having to use cars, trucks, pod engines,... you can move them the way you move a cart in a supermarket, except, there are no wheels, only four anti-gravity poles (lego part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2654) ; once it's moved to its position, you can shut them down... These platforms were designed to use in huge space ships. it's always a very difficult thing to move heavy object from one place to another, but mostly to get them exactly where they're supposed to be. thry moving a wardrobe from a wall of the room to any other wall of the room. you'll find getting it exactly against the wall to be far more difficult than to move it across the room. that's why platforms have been awarded "Maintenance tool of the year 2492". i already mentioned the other two: one is the wheeled undercarriage. this one is heavier than the second, classic undercarriage; pods usually don't drive around like a car. they don't have a steering wheel, a pilot is never really a driver. he uses the engines like many pilots do when they're taxiing on a tarmac: they increase or decrease power of either one of the engines, causing it to turn. it's not a ferrari either, even tho they have the same color...

my catalog doesn't mention anything but "soon" for a release date of the theme. they do say, however, that it's a subtheme of "City"

happy birth day hobbes! have a nice one!

The greatest seller, Thankl you!
snefroe replied to Evil Willy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
no we didn't. i just made a general statement. i can understand that you are happy with the transaction, as a person i'd probably be happy as well, as a customer i wouldn't cos i feel sending lego to a customer isn't particularly difficult to do it right from the first time out... -
The greatest seller, Thankl you!
snefroe replied to Evil Willy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
i agree completely... it's not that difficult to count the requested parts and to check the quality... i can understand that you send 99 or 101 parts instead of 100 if those are really small parts (and even then!), but minifigs? nooooooooooooooooooooooo -
the other small set is very, very, very good! :oD it's simple, easy to build and the colors are, as yoda said, perfect! i didn't really like the minifig robot when i saw the pics of the theme, and i'm still not a fan, but the parts are very interesting! they are very detailed and they really look like part of a machine so you can use them for whatever you want. the arms are less detailed but still interesting parts. the hands have already been used by lego in the airplane. the torso isn't spectacular but surely you can use that on spaceships somewhere (i think as a greeblee if that's the correct name). the robot is rather primitive but these four dark tan (beige) parts make all the difference! they go very well with the black parts. there is one problem with the stickers tho. the stickers aren't symetrical. you don't have enough stickers to apply them on all sides. in fact, you can see on the pics of yoda that you can easily make a mistake with those: there are but only six yellow-black stickers on the sheet. every dark tan part has two slopes, so you would need 8 stickers, not six if you want to apply a sticker on all slopes. so you have to apply two stickers on two parts and one on the other two BEFORE APPLYING THE STICKERS TO THE MODEL, CHECK THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i paid 5
