  1. Yeah, spring is in the air. I can feel it in my sinuses. Oh yeah, spring is also the time of year that all the bugs come out. Also, the sounds of nature become a bit more awkward when you realize that it is the sounds of all the bugs, birds and other animals desperately trying to get laid. Although, I do like the lack of bitter cold and biting winds. But, I think having all the flowers be pink is a bit much.
  2. I think that you should have a tag reading "Master of the 'Mogs", Pat-Ard, all of these are amazing.
  3. It's technically possible, but I'd advise caution. Water can cause issues with pneumatic parts, specifically the lubricant and the metal rods. And, obviously, water and electrical components do not mix. You know, I think you should invest in a copy of Sariel's Unofficial Technic Builders Guide. It has sections that answer a lot of questions you seem to have.
  4. I personally like the black and gold Skye Sands livery:
  5. I'm kind of scratching my head as to what's going on here. Could you post more details?
  6. This is cool, but I don't have a Macbook. I wonder if these guys would be making cases for other laptops or tablets if the Kickstarter is successful.
  7. Looking good, although the nose looks a little bit wacky. Most of the Indy cars I've looked at has a nose slope that is much lower, and I think the front wheels are a bit too far forward. But, overall, I think it's a good start. P.S. Might you be able to have a knob at the very back of the car, or would that be too low? I'm talking about right under the 5x11 panel in the center of the safety barrier.
  8. I don't think you could 3-d print pneumatic cylinders. The material that Shapeways prints are made of is not actually that smooth, even polished. Also, for a strong cylinder, it would need a couple of rubber seals, and likely a metal rod. Custom pneumatic cylinders are discussed in further detail in these two topics: [topic='Thread"]http://www.eurobrick...423']Thread 1[/topic] [topic='Thread"]http://www.eurobrick...tic']Thread 2[/topic]
  9. Actually, our point still stands, as the Wikipedia page says what the name means. To paraphrase, it means Universal Motorized Device, or Machine. But, if that were the intention of the OP, he should have said so. Our point of it being a little bit lazy still stands.
  10. I'd have to agree there, I personally am tired of things like this. I've only asked questions like this after my google skills failed me.
  11. I've got some more doozies: suspension arm bugs by Saberwing007, on Flickr The blue parts are #6572, and have intersection errors with the pin holes of both parts #57515, and #15459, and the sockets of #57515, but not #15459. The red parts are #6571, and have no intersection errors with their sockets, or the sockets of any other part. However, they do have errors with the pin holes of #57515 and #15459 The green parts are #2852, and #11949, which have no bugs. The nougat parts are #15460, and have errors with the pin holes and sockets of both parts #57515, and #15459. The light blue parts are #6628 and #2736, which have intersections with the pin holes of #15459, but not #57515. They also have errors with the sockets of both parts. The pink parts are #15459. The yellow parts are #57515.
  12. Interesting, could you do a more detailed shot of how the doors are constructed? The technique you used could be very useful for other builders. I always like to see other, lesser known machines from the Star Wars universe.
  13. While you may not be discussing the authenticity of the build with this post, DrJB still has many valid points. Plus, the whole point of Lego Technic is realism and functionality, and there often has to be a compromise between them. I don't think it was that pretentious of him to say that there might be some functional issues. but, it's still a good tip, as I have seen some (extremely) large models that could benefit.
  14. I see another problem with this: I've had issues with raising and lowering the hook when I have more than 2 pulleys on my crane, and I honestly cannot make the load big enough, yet small enough to not break the crane. Even 42009 has issues with the hook not lowering well, with one pulley, because of the fact that the hook is so light. Sure, it looks more realistic, but having a large number of ropes going to the hook on a Lego crane is a functional impairment.
  15. I think this person pulled this out of their big behind, as this is basically a Dutch Ebay equivalent. I see this all the time on regular Ebay, calling a set or other thing rare even if it is not. The impression I was under is that this was an actual webshop that sold Lego, and thus had a connection to them, and some real information on the tires. Actually, why would these tires become rare in the first place? The flagship for this year uses them and everything.
  16. Yeah, this is a load of megablocks. Unless, of course, there is a link to this alleged site. Then it would be a legitimate rumor. But, there is not, so I think that this thread should be locked, and any discussion on new tires we want should be in the General Parts thread.
  17. This steering hub. It's not as likely, given that we have the new hubs, but still useful. All the pieces that go into this joint. The 81.6 tires from 42000, which actually were available at one point, but have mysteriously vanished. All of the pneumatic parts L and Servo motors. Seriously, these have been used quite a bit since they were introduced in 2012. All of the Power Functions stuff, like the switch, train remote, LED units, and extension wires. This is just the stuff I can think of that are the most glaring omissions. I did not include any of the really new Technic parts, like the 3L driving ring and the axle joiner that goes with it, as those are probably going to inevitably added.
  18. Looking at several real world cranes, I have noticed that virtually all of them have hooks that can rotate independently of the pulleys, as in the pulley piece that is connected to the lifting cable stays in place, while the hook that the load is attached to can rotate. I'm thinking that a possible reason for this is to allow the road to be rotated while it is suspended from the crane, or possibly to prevent the hoist line from twisting if the load catches the wind. Now, do you guys think that this feature is needed for Lego cranes, or is it just a a cool add on for the model? I have made a model with a hook that rotates, and it is not very helpful, as the hoist lines twist long before the hook moves. In addition, my rotating hook uses a small turntable in order to do that, which has the potential to come apart if the load were large enough. The only other way that I can think of to make a hook rotate is with some threaded axles, but those could break under load. So, what do you guys think? Required feature, or nice add on?
  19. They look like long cylinders, which is going to be kind of difficult. Also, what is the actual scaled length, 20cm extended fully, retracted, or stroke? That distinction is kind of important. Possibly even more important is how wide/the diameter of the cylinders, which could make this even harder. But, in the meanwhile, here are a couple that you could adapt: These first two are based off of roughly the same principle, but are actually completely different, by MBMC137 And then there is this one, by ErikLeppen: I hope this helps you.
  20. I can confirm that the full color palette is back, as well.
  21. It's because of the fact that steering doe not use the full length of the rack, therefore the bevel gear driving it can rotate an equal distance left or right. So, effectively, the bevel gear is driving a smaller gear rack, that is not placed on center. I have actually used the off center gear rack on several creations, because most vehicles are actually like that.
  22. Is it a pixel? The individual unit that makes up all kinds of display screens?
  23. Not bad for a first time MOC, and it was probably harder because you're working in LDD, which I find to be very difficult to use with CCBS builds. CCBS, by the way, stands for Character & Creature Building System.
  24. No, your pieces are fine. Pretty much everybody washes parts using dish soap.
  25. Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about your pirating issue. Some people just suck. And, this is rather different than the whining of record labels and other stuff like that. This is a missive by a fan who makes stuff for other fans to enjoy, and does not like it when people just steal it. I personally am for making any future books print only, as I like the feel of a real book better. I totally understand where you are coming from, even if I haven't been there myself. Although, I'm under the impression that most pirates are people of my generation, the 'free range' generation that are just allowed to do whatever they want because the parents can't be arsed to look after them, for various reasons. So yeah, I think there is very little you can do about the rampant piracy, as it is a byproduct of society. But, you can still do things to protect against it, like make any other books print only, because most people who do piracy like this don't even know what a book is.
