Very, very cool. Those figures are very well done, any chance of a Yogurt? This is one of my all time favorite movies. I have a Mini VW Camper scale Eagle 5 built for the pimp my camper comp which I put into my display. I always love it when somebody recognises it (sadly not many do). I have thought about making one the same scale as the 10220, but yours is so impressive, I don't think I will.

I use the standard road baseplates for my City, though this does mean I have a fairly wide footpath if I build modulars to the standard, but by the time you add in street lights and a few other things it doesn't look too big. This could also give the oppotunity to put some parking bays along the side of the road, so the minifigs populating your town have somewhere to park. I raise all my buildings by an extra plate, so the tiled footpath is 2 plates high. This allows me to use cheese slopes at the road crossings and gives a higher gutter which looks better. This also means that you can use both the T-junction and 4-way crossroads as straights by continuing the footpath over the side road sections. I realise the dotted side lines don't continue, but that is barely noticeable on a large scale city. I have also cut some roadplates in half to give me more flexibility with my layout, this also saves having too many crossings close together as you cut the crossroads in half and put each half and either end of the street. I do 4-5 shows a year with my city, so it is constantly packed up, moved and set up again. Road baseplates and nice and easy to move and would take up less space then any brick built system. Brick built roads do look much better, but they are very expensive and brick intensive, something that is good here in Aus with the higher prices and lack of availability of decent quantities of bricks.

Great work. I can see the inspiration from the official modular buildings in the construction techniques (CC roof, GE pillars and PC facade) on the Grill all work really well together to give a very interesting building. Those front doors look like big heavy wooden doors, perfect. And the CMF plates are very effective as a roof on the Apple shop, the tiles on the walls look great and give good texture to the whole look.

This is great! A very unique idea and wonderfully executed. The building looks good when it's standing up and it demolishes perfectly. well done.

This is great. I especially like how you've done the angled windows on the front, the look is very effective. The roof is really good too. The escalators look great, I know a few people might get freaked out by the steepness of them though.

Although I'm not surprised with the final result, I would like to know what took them so long to make an announcement. If the Research Institute will be available in August it's obviously already well through the production process, which they probably started before this review did. So I would guess it actually passed it's original review period, they just held it up in case there was nothing in the next one. So was there something in this review they were actually considering that they just couldn't quite make fit? I guess we will never know. Or do they actually have a timetable for their announcements that they haven't released, just seems like a long time to say nothing passed, especially with many that would outright fail before they even start. And does this mean the exo suit is delayed even longer? Do they actually want to release that set?

I agree with everyone else, those transparent stairs look great. The patterned floor in your reception area is different to what we normally see, but works wonderfully. I really like the big transparent POLICE sign too. I could list everything, so I'll save my time - everything is great!.

This looks fantastic, the shape is very different to what you normally with Lego buildings, I much prefer modern styles as well. The indented windows and garden ares just top it off. I really like the office furniture, especially the photocopier and filing cabinet. The only problem for me is that the colour is a bit plain (for a Lego city that is, in real life staight white would look great) I can't help but wonder what it would look like if each of the three main building sections were different primary colours (I see blue for the section that juts out the front)

I love the brickwork around the ATM, it looks great. And I really like your interior work as well. I would like to see what this looks like between other modular buildings.

Picked up the Simpsons House yesterday, can't wait to build that. Also (im)patiently waiting for my Fairground Mixer to arrive from S@H (I hate having to wait the 2 weeks it can take for delivery)
-
I've accumulated 2,827 total, currently only have 226 though. As we don't have a Lego store in Aus, and retailers constantly have 20% off sales, I only buy new release exclusives from S@H, or great (normally larger) sets that are going to take months to arrive at any local retailers and that I want now. Also done a couple of PAB orders recently.

I believe the official policy is studs up, so the designers enjoy trying to sneak studs down into the sets just for a bit of fun.

I've been (im)patiently waiting for the announcement as to what the next LEGO Ideas set will be. Not that any of them particularly appeal to me, I'm just curious to find out which set was chosen, and to see if we can work out what that decision means for future projects (for me, mainly the Japanese Architecture one, I'm wondering if there really is a size limit to what they will actually consider. This would make a wonderful Ideas set, perfect for a one-off production, but I fear it is too large, which reduces the chances of similarly sized sets for the future) In my search for more information about when they expect to make an announcement (sorry, but "coming weeks" just doesn't cut it, I thought they were trying to make announcement at the end of each cycle) I came across this: "In the event two projects with overlapping concepts reach 10,000 supporters in the same review period, the LEGO Review Board will evaluate the projects separately and make the final decision on which project to produce." They have also updated their Q&A on why Brent's Ecto-1 was chosen over the other set http://legoideas.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/356070-two-project-owners-had-ghostbusters-projects-reach. I wonder if this was in direct response to the two Dr Who sets that are in the next review. Maybe they realised the second one was better as a set so had to change their stated view. I never liked the first-in rule anyway, it could mean the set produced was not as good as it could be, so am happy with the change.

This looks great, plenty of little details.

Ordered mine last night, I was going to hold off for a while, but couldn't pass up the free balloon cart, makes the AUS$ price a bit better when there is free stuff included. I also found the 850791 Birthday Set, so now I'll have a clown walking around the fairground as well. I hope they bring out more fairground themed sets, this will look great on display as part of my city, but it really needs more rides to complement it. I'll probably bring over the merry-go-round for the WV set as well as scale is about right.

This debate is interesting, but it does pose a question for me. How many of the Winter Village sets does Lego actually make for a run? I was never really interested in the line (being that Christmas is the middle of summer down under and snow is non-existent for most of the country, even in winter) until I won the Bakery in a speed building contest. But the sets are very good builds and always enjoyable. Last year's Market was great, that merry-go-round is wonderful. I was too late to get the Toy Shop and Post Office, and have been reluctant as yet to pay the higher after market prices, although I really should to complete the collection. I will be picking this one up when it comes out, and like other people have said, will add it to my WV display as a Santa's Grotto area, probably with a big chair for the kids to get their photo taken with Santa.

I've started with the interior. I have a lift in the centre of the upper levels and desks in the top level - even a bigger one for President Business. The ground level will be for a vehicle showroom. I know blue denotes Ford, but I instinctively deslike the brand, so that is not going to happen. In Australia you're either a Ford person, or a Holden (General Motors) person, but since Holden is red, I can't use that. Neither of them are high end brands, they're for the working class, so it's just going to be a generic brand. Once the liftwell is in, there won't be a lot of room, maybe 4 cars tops around the outside. That will look ok though, just have to work out the best way to have them situated as you can't access the inside without pulling the building apart, and I need to be able to transport it all without everything moving.
-
As has been mentioned here, and by members of my LUG, this will be a high-end car dealership. So now I will have somewhere to show off my vehicles. The upper levels will be offices and I will see about putting a lift shaft in the middle. Now to come up with a brand name/logo to attach to the blue awning area, which should help give the whole thing a little bit more detail. I will post update photos once it's done.

Great airport, and city in general. You've done a fantastic job with the runway, is that 5x48 baseplates? I've wanted to do an airport myself, and have recently got a hold on about 6 extra planes, but getting the runway big enough to make it look somewhat realistic, but still not take over the city is the sticking point. Your scale looks about right. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the hangar.

It's not, I never use the technic connectors on any of my builds. I display my city a few times each year and it's easy to just move them around if they aren't connected. It is 96 windows (24 each level). I bought 50 white and 50 dark bley from pick-a-brick to use in a few builds, but used them all up on this instead I wanted to put some flower beds into this one, considering I had made the extra ground space. I thought of a few things then when I bought a lot of the modified curved pieces for something else I thought they'd look good. The bed with no flowers actually use the column as the attachment point.

I wanted to add some extra shapes to my city buildings and prefer a modern style of building rather than the more tradtional. I see some nice round office blocks on my daily drive so thought I would try and replicate that. I would have preferred to have a completely mirrored glass exterior, but Lego just doesn't make those pieces, so this is what I came up with. Unlike my normal builds, it is not modular, it would lose all it's strength to be able to separate it easily. It does have two internal floors though which can be removed, which I will build onto so the building isn't empty. The middle floor is trapped in though, as the cross beam support for the floor above it (and for wall integrity) means I can't actually get it out. I have placed my extended GE on one side and modified Pet Shop on the other for comparison, I still haven't worked out where this will go in my City. I don't have my display tables at the moment, but once I get them back I will work something out. As always, comments and ideas for improvement are greatly appreciated

Ah footy bogans, the scourge of our fine nation.

Another great vehicle LT All it needs now is a drunk hooligan leaning out the back wanting another beer.

I like what you've done with the building. This works quite well expanded to modular scale and makes for a nice modern style building. If you do brick build it, I would suggest adding another row of bricks to each level, making it closer in height to the GE.
