My votes: Classic Space Childhood Memories Minifigs

RE: Commissioner Gordon... If the hold-up on getting a Commissioner Gordon is the trenchcoat piece, would you accept him like this: Or would you rather not have him at all?
-
Nice. I'm awfully tempted to get some new police sets to complement my Bat-sets...

I love the idea of that, but it would be impossible to avoid controversy, even with the "safest" historic characters. But the idea of historic vignettes is a great one. I wonder if any kids would want to buy them? :)

As a history teacher, I love these ideas. 007, I loved your FDR and Charlie Chaplin pieces best--great job with those likenesses. And Morgan, yours are just...remarkable. I can't pick favorites, but the two that made me laugh out loud were these: ...and I just noticed President Clinton's pants. Well done, sir! *y* *y* *y*

Beautiful shots--that final one is my new wallpaper on my computer at school. Fantastic stuff!
-
That's what makes him Batman! Well...that and the big bat-thingy on his chest.
-
That's my biggest problem with them. They're derivative and just...unfunny. I have the same problem with "Family Guy," where it's all parody--all ripped off of funnier, better programs. I prefer something original than just the same recycled cheap jokes over and over again. I haven't seen anything since the first Shrek, but I certainly won't be subjecting my own kids to them. Nnnnngh.

I like that idea. I'd probably throw in a Wookiee too. *y*

I like the points you brought up, Joebot (and a separate thread for all this is a good idea). However, I love the idea of having a hero and a villain both in the same package. Realistically, LEGO's trying to sell these not just to AFOLs and Comic Book Geeks, but to moms and dads who are looking for gifts for birthdays and Christmas. And those sets will sell better if they include Batman in them. I love having the Good vs. Evil in each and every package, even if it means some of the vehicles will be small and silly, like the "Bat Buggy" or Dragster. Batman's got dozens of vehicles...the more we get, the better. As far as "no new figures but Harley"...I hope we get a few that aren't listed in the titles of the sets. Commissioner Gordon and some kinda Batgirl are still at the top of my list. And if they are recycling characters, I'm glad they're picking Freeze and Penguin...they only came in the most expensive set, so there are a bunch of kids (and AFOLs) who would have missed out on them. Hopefully for us die-hard collectors, the Batman minifigs will have some tweaks so they're not all exactly the same figure. I'd looove some more villains. Ra's Al Ghul, Clayface, Mad Hatter and Man-Bat are all top of my list.

Thanks--my wife's boss grew it and thought we'd have fun with it. We did. The boys fit inside it!

It's an iconic scene, it's historically relevant, and for all his fighting Nazis, it's the one time that Indy actually meets Hitler. And no, I don't think LEGO should really make it. It would be in horrible taste. And yet, there's part of me that wants to see it MOC'd at some point.

LOL! I. Am an idiot. Hyenas. That's what I meant. :-$

I don't think so. Harley is often shown with an oversized gag hammer like this: My guess is that Harley's driving a truck that either launches a hammer or has some kind of hammer swinging action that can beat on other vehicles. I'm not sure exactly how it would work, but I can see it working for a fun LEGO set. It'd be nice if she had a pair of dingos too...although I don't see that happening.
-
Creepy and eccentric, but I like that there's an overall theme or design that you can see carried through the different characters--it's not just a mishmash of parts. The Centaurs are probably my favorites, too. I wish LEGO would produce a "real" Centaur...that's a castle piece that's long overdue IMO.

Very cool Loco -- the world of boats is very foreign to me, so I never even think about building them. Great to see some new ideas like these.
-
Sorry, Vader. I wonder if the sets are arranged from lowest - highest price? If so, then once again the Joker ends up in the most expensive of the "regular" sets (aside from the Batcave and Arkham). I also wonder what kind of vehicle Penguin will end up with in the Robin-Penguin set...we've already seen a minisub, so I'm envisioning some kind of powered umbrella boat.
-
That's a perfect way to describe it. There are only a few exceptions, and that should be with things like monsters or other non-human characters. But if they're people, they should be...people.
-
Ah, I still like it. Seriously, that Joker, Riddler and Penguin are still The Classic versions of those characters to me.
-
I like Cesar Romero's Joker too. I just don't like that he wouldn't shave his moustache. The greasepainted moustache! aaaah! X-O

Hiya Belloq! First off, great choice of screen name. *y* Keep in mind that the first four Classic IJ sets that have been announced are just the first of what should be many--just the tip of the Indiana Iceberg, as it were. Then since KOTCS is coming out in '08, expect a strong focus on that movie...summer will see the four KOTCS sets, and I'd assume even more for that movie towards Christmas of '08. But after that, we should see quite a bit of "infill" with all of the characters, scenes, vehicles and violence of the original IJ trilogy. Looking at what they've done with Star Wars, Batman, Harry Potter and other licenses, I have faith in LEGO doing Jones right. Don't get scared off based on their initial offerings. Sallah, Dr. Schneider, Short Round and others are just around the corner. I hope. *wub*

...I will say that since adding Batgirl and Robin and the Justice League, "The Batman" has become a much more enjoyable show. But I can't forgive them for that awful Joker. Nnnnnngh.
-
Without a doubt. I'm just bringing up the point that there's actually BEEN a merchandising tie-in opportunity on television for several years now, and LEGO has chosen to go a more classic route. Thankfully. And I'm an enormous BTAS fan. So you don't need to convince me. :)

I remember reading it last summer--searching now all I found was this post on Legions of Gotham, a Batman fansite who said they confirmed it with "Lego Corporate".... http://legionsofgotham.proboards70.com/ind...83380159&page=1 ...there was something about the themes being too dark for what LEGO wanted to do with the Batman license, so they were skewing in a more cartoony direction. It makes sense, since they haven't made sets to go along with "The Batman" cartoon broadcast on Saturday mornings on WB. Releasing LEGO Batman sets in the summer when The Dark Knight is in theatres should be synergy enough to boost sales, I would think, and would probably be better than releasing "The Dark Knight" sets with that effed-up Joker.
