Review: 7622 Indiana Jones - Race For the Stolen Treasure
jedikermit replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in LEGO Licensed
Cool Ark (and contents) Phred! I like it. -
I voted Castle and Castle too...if Batman had made more than two sets this year, I would have voted for them. Star Wars didn't do enough this year to really impress me. Creator and Town/City were my close second choice picks for overall greatness.

Indiana Jones Part 4 - Set Pictures are available
jedikermit replied to Navy Trooper Fenson's topic in LEGO Licensed
Love the new Marion figure, Love the big ants (I'm glad they're not GIANT giant ants, but just giant ants) Love the big temple set. Cool cool cool. -
For me, it'd be Batgirl. Then Clayface, Ra's, and Mad Hatter.

Nice to hear from the Meisterbauern themselves! Keep up the great work--I can't wait to see it all when it's finished! *y* *y* *y*

Holy. It is very, very big. I hope he works some trophies in there. Also--it seems too monolithic--too much of the same color of grey all over. I'd rather see him work in more variation, maybe some browns and blacks to mix it up a bit. And of course, I'm jealous. But those are changes I'd make to the final version.
-
Thanks--I've got to make some changes to make it less like the Batcave besides just the brighter colors. I dunno. Maybe it'll be a Christmas Break project.
-
Thanks guys--the cartoon version is very yellow-and-blue, so I tried to stick to that as much as possible. I want to make some kind of bay for an Aquasub or scooter or something, but I haven't built the vehicle yet, so I'll have to wait and see how that fits into everything.

Ya see, it all depends on how you look at things.

As far as iconic vehicles, locations, characters or creatures or figures from the OT, I think we still need: Death Star (still waiting for confirmation) Cantina Band (missed opportunity at the Cantina, IMHO) Tauntauns Wampa Rancor Ewok Village (very unlikely :( ) Admiral Ackbar ...if we ended up with all of those, I'd die a happy SW OT-lovin AFOL. Even without them, I'm happy. LEGO has done a great job with this license, and I've seen things go through improvements and deprovements, but overall, it's been a great line. I'm not quite ready to see the OT die off yet, so I hope we get all of those things I listed above.

I have to be honest--this is my least favorite of the seven Harry Potter books. Although it did make a pretty good movie. As for your vig though, I love it--the curtain effect is excellent, and the dark colors convey the mood of a very sad moment in the series. Very nicely done.

It's a sorting nightmare. I'm still not exactly sure what I have. But I'm not gonna complain. My first project with my new additions: http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=13426 -
So I'm a big DC Comics nerd, and my boys and I got a little too into the Aquaman DVDs that came out a few months back. 1960's Filmation cartoons. Good stuff. Sort of. Anyway, in the series, Aquaman has an Aquacave (he has off and on in the comic books, too) kind of like Batman's Batcave. Only lamer. Of course. With the crapload of LEGO I inherited this week, I figured I'd put some of it to use this morning and make my version of the Aquacave...it's definitely a work in progress, but any suggestions, praise or condemnation are welcome. Overview of the whole cave: One of the things I realized is that because it's all underwater and Aquaman, Aqualad and Mera can breathe underwater, and they can swim all around everything, there was no need for ladders or steps or anything. Convenient! Aquaman in his Armory: Mera (Aquaman's girlfriend and later wife) at an ancient Atlantean compass: Aqualad at the computer station: Black Manta's invasion: Can Aquaman stop Manta in time? The villainous fiend!

Here are some pics...my boys and I have been sorting for a few hours this morning, and then playing, so nothing's really getting sorted. So the pics are...lame. There are 115 minifigs total, and lots of LEGO. -
Zzz, I'm with you. I've cut way back on my SW LEGO buying, so I'll only buy OT stuff. However, I'm hooked on Batman and Indiana Jones, so although this might be a nice SW break for me (and it will honestly be a relief to just be able to buy a few Battle Packs and be done with it), I'll still spend about as much on those new obsessions. And like you, Klaus-Dieter, I need to see the Death Star before I know if I'll buy it or not. I've wanted one since LEGO launched this baby almost ten years ago...it'd better be worth the wait.

Holy mama. That thing is beautiful. That'd be a great way for LEGO to do that particular weapon...wow. Wowie-wow. Great job.

I saw in Big Lots ad this week that they had LEGO sets at 50% of what other retailers charge, so I went by today, and their regular prices (not sale prices) were pretty good. I picked up the Prehistoric Creatures Creator set for $9.99, the Vikings Battle Wagon (probably the wrong name--the Army Builder with 8 or so Vikings in it) for $11.99, and they had the mini creator sets (monkey, planes, cars, robots) for $3 each. So if you have one near you, it could pay to check it out. They had several from different themes, but I just grabbed the Dinos and the Vikings. I went to a different location yesterday, and they didn't have any LEGO at all. So it's pretty hit and miss.

Saw all four of these at Toys R Us (in Salt Lake City) yesterday, but as I was grabbing them, my wife said, "if you want to ruin your own Christmas that badly, you just keep putting those in the cart"...so I rather sheepishly returned them to the shelf. That had better mean that she's getting them for me. She's hard to read when there are lighting bolts coming out of her eyes. And flames coming out of her mouth. And Wolverine claws shooting out of her arms. I love that woman. *wub* Point is, they're popping up everywhere. Yay! -

I can take some, if anyone's interested... -
LOL. Uh...yeah. Like that. :)

They really need a jacket-less Indy. Or something.
-
Vader, great design work--both of them look like they fit right in with the Clone Wars style. You might even convince me to like that style! :) I'm intrigued by Mace's cloak? Did you sew it? Glue it? It looks very good, especially considering the eensy-teensy scale.

This morning I felt like the luckiest 34-year old junior high history teacher in the world. This other teacher, who a son who just graduated from high school, mentioned that they were taking all of his LEGO to a Goodwill/Thrift store kind of place to get rid of it. She said it was either that or the trash, so she figured she'd just dump it. So I said, "why not give it to me? I've got two boys who are just starting to get into LEGO, and I love it myself..." and she said okay. That was yesterday. This morning, she brought it in. Two huge tubs filled with parts, almost 200 minifigs in a big Ziploc baggie, and the instruction manuals for more than 100 different sets. I stopped counting after sorting through the first 100. The best part is that it looks like it's mostly stuff from my own "Dark Age" : about 1990 - 1999. So it's a lot of stuff I either didn't own or didn't even know existed. Some great Wild West stuff, Insectoid (is that a theme?), Underwater stuff, Castle, Johnny Thunder...man. There's a lot of good stuff there. And there are about ten Star Wars sets--mostly the first wave of stuff. I already have most of that, but things like the first Y-Wing/Darth Vader's TIE (which I never got around to buying), Snowspeeder, X-Wing... Yeah. So let people know you're still a LEGO maniac. Sometimes it pays off. And it paid off BIG today. Can't wait for my Christmas break... :)
