What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
jedikermit replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good Guys: Tatooine Luke and R2-D2 Bad Guys: Darth Vader and Stormtrooper -
I'm trying to think of it as a year that I can: 1) Buy lots of those army builder sets 2) Save up enough to buy the Death Star 3) Buy all of the Indiana Jones and Batman LEGO I want So even if it is a slower Original Trilogy year, there will still be fun to be had.

I think that for coming seven years before any official Star Wars LEGO, these are astounding. His Falcon is amazing, and like zz said, that Death Star explosion? Hilarious. And effective. I'm surprised I hadn't seen these before, unless I have, and 15 years have knocked them out of my head.

That is bizarre. And I love it. Great job!

I'm still on the fence with this one....do I want to buy this, or buy the Dwarf Mining set instead? I mean, I can build a better base than this in my sleep...it'd be nice to have the official version and all, but I'd be MODding it immediately anyway. Ugh! Why do I love ESB so much?

Very nice work, Vader... My favorites are Seasee Tinn, Maris Brood, and Volvif Monn. I've done a lot of LEGO/Sculpey stuff too, and I'm really impressed with the detail you've worked into that scale, while keeping it looking LEGO appropriate. I'm not quite satisfied with Roron Corrobb (Hammerhead Jedi Guy), but it could just be the angle. You have any pics from the side? I really really wish LEGO would come out with an official Ithorian/Hammerhead headpiece. Great stuff! *y* *y* *y*

Ideas for other Lego "Super Sets" like 10184 Town Plan

Thanks K-D...yeah, I don't know if a pizzeria is the best one of those, but those minifigs need to eat sometime, don't they? :) -
Ideas for other Lego "Super Sets" like 10184 Town Plan

First of all, as a teacher, it's great to see all the requests for a school of some kind. It does seem odd that in so many years of LEGOing, we haven't seen any schools. Here's my idea for another chunk of the city: Museum Plaza Museum Two-story museum, including small lobby, two dinosaur models, one dinosaur skeleton, geology and history section, and outdoor coffee garden. Pizzeria Pizza shop downstairs, apartment upstairs. Library Two-story Library, with lion sculptures on either side of the front steps, books and computers inside, and a stern-faced "shushy" librarian minifig. Playground Small playground, with a merry-go-round, swing, slide, and bench. Vehicles New City Taxi, Pizza Delivery Moped, Museum Van ...and about 12 assorted minifigures. Price: around 150 USD. -
Here are some from Salt Lake City...there's not a whole lot here, but I like it anyway. The Boston Building--built in the 1920s, now an architectural firm lives there. The Beehive House--I think Brigham Young used to live there. Cathedral of the Madeleine The City/County Building--probably my favorite building in Salt Lake City The Eagle Gate...I like bizarre little touches like this in cities. They tore down the original when they widened the streets for automobile traffic, and the new version isn't as impressive as the original. The former Hotel Utah...I like the weird little Greek temple on top. The Kearns Building--I worked across from this building for seven years, and always loved it. I like the little brownstone just to the right too...we don't have many of those in Salt Lake. The new City Library--it's about five years old, and is my favorite modern building in the city. The Mormon Tabernacle on Temple Square The Mormon Temple And finally, the Walker Building. They just reinstalled that sign on top of the tower, after being gone for something like 40 years. I really like the details on this building.

Very clever--I liked it a lot!

Review: 7786 Batman - Batcopter: The Chase for the Scarecrow
jedikermit replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm glad someone dug this out. My favorite part, "didn't you read the instructions? A missile to the head causes a tear!" -
The preview I saw (it may have been on YouTube) was pretty clear about what happens to Hermes. I'm excited for this--It looks like after the four DVDs are sold, they'll be split into episodes and broadcast on Comedy Central. I didn't realize that the content of the DVDs would be the same content as those episodes, so I'm kind of bummed about that. I'll definitely pick up all of the DVDs, but then that means no new Futurama until Comedy Central or someone else orders more episodes. In any case, yay new Futurama!

My wife and I finally watched this movie last night; it was better than I thought it would be, although I'm still a big G1 fan. I thought the robot designs were too busy, and the fight scenes in the last half hour or so of the movie were cool, but it was hard to figure out what was going on. I'm bummed about Jazz, and I'm excited for the idea of sequels. And now my wife is in love with Optimus Prime. Well, her exact words were, "now I can see why YOU (me) are in love with Optimus Prime." Anyway. It was pretty good. I want to see more. :-)

Thanks, Bonaparte; I'll probably redo the minifigs next summer, with some additions, and then take higher quality pics. When and if I ever get around to that, I'll be sure to make a pretty thread for them.

Amazing work, Hinckley! Although I love all of it, my favorite part might be the loading dock--I love that rounded roof...just makes it seem more industrial and authentic. I wanna build one!

What other SW "Battle Packs" would you like to see?
jedikermit replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Love your ideas, Klaus-Dieter...I'd buy every single one of those, and I'd be excited about every one of them. Very solid ideas...I wonder if the Bantha & Dewback would be too big for those sets, so they'd cut it down to just 3 minifigs? And the Jawas could steal an XP-38 Landspeeder. If that's what they're called. *y* -
The only thing that bothered me with the fleshies is the switchover to fleshies midway through the Star Wars and Harry Potter lines. So figures I have before and after the switch don't match nicely. I've gotten over it, and now mix fleshies and yellows wherever I want to, and don't notice much. But it would have been nice to have been consistent.

The tow truck that I don't even have anymore that was my first LEGO set ever.
-
Thanks for the new pics, Sam...I'm still only interested in the battle packs, but BOY AM I! I'm gonna have to keep an extra $50 in my wallet for the day I see them in stores so I can just grab them.

Just cause im curious... and am sure others are too...

Totally down with both of those; include a tripod-mounted web blaster for the Snowies and you have my vote! I wish we got to vote.
