if it comes with a new gungan warrior variant and Boss Nass that would be perfect. I honestly feel like a couple of sets for the Theed battle is welcome. Hopefully we get at least one other set to go with this.

I agree that they did it this way to make it look more like Lego. Admittedly the molded heads are quite similar to how K'nex handled Family Guy, so distinguishing the look was a good choice. But as I said before, there are in show reasons to justify it too. Homer would have grown up with the traditional minifigure, so it seems likely that's what he'd dream. As for him being stupid I do think it's a good reason to justify why the printing and hair pieces don't conform to Lego standards. I just think it looks intentionally like a custom, with the differing facial styles and the printing going on all sides of the minifigure. And while I don't think it's the main reason for it, I do think it played some part. The Simpsons have always been pretty detailed oriented and somehow I think they probably thought this one through as well.

I would heavily bet on them being included next year. If they make sets for the film it would be a certainty.

^ So you consider using a traditional Lego head as making Lego wrong? I'm not going to blame them for deciding to make minifigures out of actual minifigure parts rather than jamming action figure heads onto a minifigure body. Homer would have grown up with the traditional minifigure. So it's no mystery why his version of Springfield would contain minifigures that conform to the standard.

I think the hype is that everyone is waiting for their favorite version to be made into a set, at least that's the hype for me. Also most of the Batmobiles have been bad or so-so, so some people are just waiting for a Batmobile they like in general.

Homer's an idiot, he's stupid enough to think that these minifigures are cool and good looking. And molded heads wouldn't make sense. They look exactly like their real heads, it would be like me having a dream where everything was Lego except for people's heads. If you want to believe they did this out of laziness or lack of budget fine, but personally I think the logic is there, so I'm not bothered by the decision.
-
I'm not making up anything. The episode is Homer's dream, that is confirmed. From a logical standpoint that means when he was a child there was only one type of Lego head, so naturally that would be what he would use in his dream. It would make no logical sense if in his Lego dream everyone had Lego bodies but regular human heads. And I don't think it looks bad either. It's goofy and amateur, but funny looking and I feel like that's on purpose. Believe what you want, but I see the logic in the choice of regular heads and I find it acceptable within the premise of the story. In the sets it makes sense to have molded heads, but in story it just wouldn't.
-
Well this is Homer's hallucination... And he's an idiot, so of course his version of Lego parts wouldn't be practical or good looking. I think people are forgetting that this is a very stupid man's hallucination, so it looks this way on purpose. In the story I don't think Homer would be smart enough to use sculpted Lego heads, he'd obviously just imagine normal Lego heads (As that's what he's familiar with).
-
Actually the more pictures I see the less ugly they look. It's weird and goofy looking, but honestly it's grown on me. Still from the side they look horrible, but at least when they're facing the camera they don't look half bad.

I meant the November release date was the rumor, I don't think there's been confirmation on the exact date yet. Well he's my favorite Joker, so he's a must for me. And I think the brighter color scheme would look better in Lego form. I will say though if we get another Catowman I would prefer the Eartha Kitt version, both because I wish to see a more diverse line-up of characters and because I like her characterization of Catwoman (The Julie Newmar version is so easy to do a purist custom of, so I feel less of a need for her).

Well rumor is that the Adam West Batman TV series is coming to video in November, so perhaps the 60's Batmobile will be part of the winter wave. Or it could be some sort of fall exclusive. Either way I think the timing will be in a way to tie into the video release. I am hopeful for some good minifigures to go with it. 60's Batman and Robin is a must, but I'm hoping for a Romero Joker as well. And 60's Batgirl would be a great option too. I'm very excited about the possibilities of this Batmobile, that is if it turns out to be a set or not.

I've disliked so many of the Batmobiles they've made. But that 60's Batmobile, it might just be a winner. If it has room to seat two it will be a winner regardless of what the front end looks like. DC has been lacking this year, a surprise set would be great. As for the Tumbler it looks like a recolor definitely. It's odd that one of the biggest movie Batmobile's is ironically one of the smallest Lego Batmobiles.

Honestly I like them better than the molded heads. Oddly I think it's primarily because it sticks to the traditional Lego look (Which is probably why they chose it for the episode). It looks quite a bit ugly, but ugly in sort of a fun way. My only real problem is that the face prints don't really capture the characters all that well, the ears I feel are placed wrong and the eyes should be a bit more varied.
-
It looks to be CG animated, so it might have started production before molded heads were decided on. Though I suppose in the context of the story Homer wouldn't imagine specially molded heads, he'd imagine standard Lego heads instead. Looks interesting that's for sure, but I can't decide which style I would have rather had in the actual sets. Both are awkward.

While Lego may let it slide, Disney would probably not. Disney ultimately sets what they want Lego to do, and in this case if it's not similar enough in their opinion than they'd ask Lego to do something about it.

If the episode is CG animation like all other Lego episodes than it wouldn't make a difference, they'd just animate the heads. And even if it were stop motion they could still work with the molded heads as you can animate the mouths in other ways (Robot Chicken does it all the time). The head doesn't really look all that official to me. Who knows, maybe the episode will include both styles of Simpsons minifigure. But I tend to believe whatever's sitting on the store shelves will make it in one way or the other.
-
I doubt you'd find it anywhere officially, but CN wouldn't have renewed past six seasons even if Disney hadn't of bought SW. Pretty much as a rule they don't run shows past that number. They do rebrand occasionally and create a new show, but when they do that it never ends up being the same as the first version. CN is based solely around getting shows to the ideal syndication number, because that's where the profit really is. One way or the other it was on it's way out. Even if Disney wanted the show they would have rebranded it and made it a new show just for cost and profit reasons.

Well for ASM it doesn't look like we'll get any for this movie, I'd say we will for the third though (As there's no way USM will still be on the air). I do think it's likely we'll get a new Spider-man before that. I think realistically he could pop up as an exclusive or something. With as long as they've waited to give us a new variant I would assume they're saving it for something special. Who knows, they could surprise us and reveal an unknown set or something (At least that's what I'm hoping because I am growing more and more impatient). I have that minifigure and it sticks out among the others quite a bit. While the coloring is good ultimately the design style for printing then is really different from now. And part of the printing is on the hip piece, so it's inaccurate to boot.

This is what I've thought since the beginning. These toy companies don't have unlimited color palettes, so ultimately they have to make a choice. I'll admit the Drax minifigure is too grey, but honestly any of the green shades would have been to green, so there's really not going to be a winner here. And creating a new color for him would be pointless, partially because it would just be difficult to recreate that color, and it just wouldn't be cost effective. I understand that reasoning, I think most people are just upset that's the variation they gave us rather than the one that's scaled to match the rest of the minifigures. They should have given him a regular sized variation too (Just like they should have given us a Bruce Banner minifigure to go with the Hulk bigfig). I tend to think Marvel may have made this choice just because they have several green superheroes already. I mean they wouldn't want kids to mistake Drax for bald, tattooed Hulk.

He really looks grey to me. There are other colors mixed in for sure, but he seems to be primarily grey. There's obviously a reason Lego chose grey for the minifigure. I think lighting sort of plays a part as to why he looks green some of the time.

I think he's more of 50% green 50% grey. I mean he definitely has a green tint, but it's definitely not like any of the colors Lego has on hand to use, so ultimately they'd have to make a choice which color he's closer to grey or green. Honestly it's sort of a toss up on which Lego color is closer.

I kind of think the fact that Moe's Tavern is a modern day bar, is what makes the difference to Lego. I guess Sci-fi settings serving possibly alcoholic drinks and historic settings known for it are okay simply because they're not realistic or something a kid would encounter in the present. At least that's the only difference I can think of between Moe's and the other alcoholic settings Lego has created. Oddly I wonder if the fact that Moe serves beer is a part of it. Looking back Lego seems really okay with suggesting characters are drinking wine, I mean the CMF waiter comes with a wine bottle with a grape label. I suppose drunkenness is probably a bit more associated with beer than wine (At least where I live). As for the violence issue I don't exactly see Lego following any real standards for that. I mean war scenes and battles are pretty much their bread and butter. To me it often appears that Lego chooses what guidelines they really want to follow. And at some points it feels arbitrary. I mean last year we got a prostitute in a Lone Ranger set...
-
That's all well and good, but I think there's always a loop hole. After all it's not technically Moe's Tavern, it's a family style restaurant. And based on the amount of references stuffed into the house and the CMF series I'd say they're probably not above making sets episode specific. After all the primary audience for this theme is Simpsons fans anyway. And truthfully even if alcohol related content isn't aloud now that doesn't mean it won't be in the future. Standards can change, and it will if Lego continues to make adult oriented themes.
-
Well in one episode Moe's tavern is turned into a family restaurant. The structure itself didn't change much, but it was decorated differently. So that could always be an alternative way to get the building itself. I'll agree and say it isn't likely, but there are at least ways Lego could make it work.

But that's the thing, I'm tired of buying sets solely because I want the minifigures. And unfortunately that's what most of these sets end up being. I don't want a quick cash in, I want something worth buying just for the set itself. I mean last years movie tie-ins were pretty bad, an underscaled mansion, Mandarin's go kart, the boat that makes no sense in context to the movie. I just think Lego would have ended up doing the same thing for Captain America, it lacked new vehicles and it's locations were to big to scale down into sets properly. Sure, they could have jammed minifigures into generic sets made up of rehashes of previous trucks and whatnot, but ultimately that would be a bit boring and not all that worthwhile. Ultimately I don't need to see a line wasted on jamming new characters into sets that are essentially parts packs. Ultimately I'd rather wait around for something really worthwhile. And while I want a Winter Soldier minifigure I'd be okay with just getting him as an exclusive in a polybag or something. And even if we don't get him this year he's going to appear in more movies down the line, so one way or the other we'll get him.
