  1. I'm pretty excited. Monster Fighters was the one theme I got pretty much most of the sets from (Excluding the castle which I could never find) and I enjoyed having a Halloweeny/spooky theme that drew inspiration from classic movie monsters (Even if they had public domain names). From what I hear the sets were extremely popular too, at least here where they sold like hot cakes (Probably why I couldn't find the castle) Things could only really get better as we have more possibilities for monsters and new parts and such. Even if it was just a plain steampunk theme, I'd be happy.
  2. This one's extremely simple, but A. I'm testing a rather new Lego photography setup and B. I'm secretly exposing my other nerdy hobby outside of Lego: My sigfig's modeling my ideal Christmas wish: A Batman cosplay suit.
  3. I've seen this plenty of times, not just on the books, but sets too. My Mines of Moria set had the minifigs pilfered, but thankfully Lego rose to the occasion and replaced them. I don't think this is the case with book minifigs, unfortunately, but it's the case for sets for sure.
  4. I was thinking Where Are My Pants guy's torso would be the best. The head is where I'm personally stuck. The black widows peak hair would work for the hairpiece, but I'm stuck on the head.
  5. I found this series to be the easiest to feel for, if for the heads alone. That and some accessories like Bart's skateboard are obvious, but the tell-tale signs are the heads, especially since most characters have a tile like Grandpa's newspaper or Milhouse's comic.
  6. I figure I may as well weigh in and see which figs are on my to-buy list and which ones to avoid: Gamer: I like him as a citizen, and the accessory is simple and effective, but he's a little lower on the priority list. More of a "Nice to have" figure. Prospector: Good for parts I suppose, but not someone I'd go out of my way for. His hat should be easy to feel for though. Rock star: A must have. My only gripe is his hair, but the new guitar mold is perfect. Definite yes! Swashbuckler: He has some good parts and his torso print is beautiful. No real use for him as is, but parts are a yes. Jester: Another definite yes. He could work nicely as a Joker henchman along with the other CMF clowns. His card seals the deal. Princess: Good figure, but again, not someone I'd exclusively look for. Still nice to have. Spooky Girl: I love this figure. I can already picture some "The Ring" styled MOCs built around her. Definite yes! Pizza guy: Simple, but I kind of like him. The new pizza piece makes him a must. Hun: One word: Magnificent! Must have. Genie Girl: Slightly disappointed here. I was expecting more of an "I Dream of Jeanie" kind of genie, but a simple leg swap will do the trick. Male lifeguard: I think he'll work nicely. You can never have too many bare chest torsos, and his face is great. Wizard: Another must have. His hat is a definite improvement over the previous witch hat and he's just awesome. Dino tracker: Another nice to have figure. I like her Hunger Games influence, but I'm not extremely impressed here. Space miner: Decent figure, but the idea is kind of meh. Athena: Pretty awesome, but I have no use for her, unfortunately, but her parts are great. Pig suit guy: No real use for him, but he's cute.
  7. I don't have a Ron to compare (Unless you mean the pre-fleshies HP sets), but I'd say it's similar, if not the same color/hair piece. On the topic of purist customs, you could use Max Burns' body/legs for Agent Coulson (At least if you want his Lego Marvel video game look)
  8. The '66 Batmobile is nice and all, but I'm not mad at its exclusivity. I can bet the juniors set and just Bricklink the pieces for the Batmobile proper.
  9. Next one I hope to score is either Toxikita's set or Infearno's, given the high praise both have received. That and I can add myself to the "Let's make purist Ghost Rider" club with Infearno's headpiece.
  10. That set is amazing! Granted I'm not the biggest fan of the Nolan movies (I felt they took themselves too seriously, all things considered) but I will at least BL the minifigs if I can't score the set proper.
  11. Finally picked up Riverside Raid and it's definitely worth the price of admission. The build is substantial, despite the low piece count, and the figures are great. If I'm impressed by the cheapest set in the range, I can't wait to see how the rest of the line wows me.
  12. Prospector: He's alright, but I wish they used a different beard for him instead of the Fusebot recolor. It just doesn't work for me, and I would have chosen the Santa beard in gray instead. Other than that, a decent figure, as his hat mold is pretty good. Spooky Girl: I really like this one. The new hair is great, the concept can work for a lot of applications. The spider on the torso is a bit of a let down, but the bear makes up for it. Pig suit guy: I am a bit mixed here. While I like the new pig mask, the face inside is a little generic, but it could be used for a kid. The apple is a welcome addition.
  13. I like it. It has the general shape of a traditional popsicle, but my only criticism is if you could use another translucent color instead of clear. It looks too much like regular ice that way, though I'll suggest translucent yellow or orange to keep with the color scheme. Nice work.
  14. Oh man, those knock-offs are horrible, and Decool are usually decent at best. Maybe they wanted to do Tracey Ullman Simpsons figures? That Homer especially looks hideous. Let's just say that maybe all those years working at the nuclear power plant have finally caught up with him and brought home radiation to the rest of the family. Maybe I should stop making excuses for these guys.
  15. ^Awesome pics! Here's another humble entry:
  16. I've seen the Hail Hydrant meme before and I had a feeling you'd stand and deliver, Oky. Nice one!
  17. ^Classics, man, total classics. I was going to do the Coulson/Executron joke, but a bit different in execution. I particularly love these Lego Movie funnies when they mix with the other licensed themes.
  18. Bad news, the other Wally World I went to didn't even have a display up, and the only Lego Movie sets they had were things like the Flying Flusher and Castle Cavalry. Interestingly they had some of the new Ninjago sets, so I picked a couple of them up, so it wasn't an entirely fruitless pursuit. I guess I'll have to stick to Brick Link.
  19. I like the fact that for the disco set they basically split up the Andrea's Stage set into separate modules (Piano, stage platform, entrance) and added a poorly designed car that was never part of the original set. But yeah, thank goodness he didn't get the piano with the handless girl. Also Brickmaster that was an ace parody.
  20. Going to scout around tomorrow for more figures. Hoping for Larry, Where are my Pants, and maybe Shakespeare or any of the bots. Wish me luck, guys.
  21. Block Tech seems to be very hit or miss too. Everything is Awful!
  22. New Ashens Lego knock-off video! Rife with a couple of Lego Movie references and a knock off of a Friends set (Andrea's Stage, IIRC)
  23. That is after fake-o cameraman is finished filming the Z-Games (Like the X-Games, but for bootleg Lego) and the inevitable crashes from amateurs for the amusement of AFOLs everywhere.
  24. So we have a Lego Island knock-off (I actually had the set they're knocking off), a Lego Studios bootleg, and a typical fake military set. That rocket launcher thing looks like Godzilla already squashed, while fake-o cameraman is filming the ordeal.
  25. I have to agree with you, particularly with DC. I understand that Batman is DC's bread and butter, but as you said, other characters like Green Lantern need some love. Even if it's just a set with Green Lantern and Sinestro I'd be happy. As for Marvel, yeah, the movie licenses would be great. We already have Guardians of the Galaxy coming up in the summer, but I'd love to have some SHIELD sets, at least with the main cast. Your ideal with Coulson and Lola would be the best course of action, but then again, Fury's car in Spider-Cycle could be adapted into Lola with red parts instead of green, but that's just me.
