Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Black Falcon replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would love to see new headgear for civilians in this set but wouldn´t really suspect it, since it kinda seems to me that the budget is quite tight there - but I really hope it was used on good prints on the minifigs. The more different new civilian pieces the better. -
For me it is not. I would rather say it is pretty common and protects a product beeing copied by others.

Why exactly is that a dirty trick for you?

Anything under ten would be a huge disappointment for me. A market lives from the people and the more the better - and I just want to get a lot different minifigs, especially new prints of peasants. Actually the thing I am most looking forward is to see the minifigures, not the market. And that is not only because we already seem to know how it is going to look. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Seems kinda unlikely to me. Lego knows really well that people want a moulded horse and I think we will get one. You never know though -

I would guess it will be exclusive like the castle, but will at least be exclusive to Lego Partners like the Galaxy Explorer was. -
My point was that they were cheaper when they were the only gwp (though, I think that the cruiser partly overlapped with the chinese new year rabbit) but when both came back together they both had a threshold of 220 so you had to pay more. Which is the same for the Majisto GWP that also comes together with an other gwp - and honestly, I think the double VIP points might be a reason for the threshold too.

They likely fear that it will be sold out by then, and that fear might just be the reason why they will be sold out in the end - that and resellers.

This wasn´t meant to say we won´t get new prints for minifiures. Obviosuly there are way more civilans in this set than in the Castle, so we still should get plenty of new ones. But we will also see reused ones. And I especially mentioned the Blacksmith one since that one was used in quite a number of sets now and if they include it in the town square set it will be around for quite a while still. I just see the risk, that it then will get reused in the next set since it is cheaper than including a new one again, while I would definitly prefer more different parts ;). -
While 250 surely is a lot money, you shouldn´t forget that Lego isn´t asking 250€ for just this set but you are getting two sets at least for this + double Insiders points. When you look at them giving two gwps like they did with the Blacktron and Toa GWPs, they were more expensive then too (and actually the prices are the same like they were last year, with gwps that actually seem more valueable this year), so I am pretty sure if the Workshop would be the only gwp it would have a lower buy needed. Of course that doesn´t change how much to have to pay now, though. Noone forces you to anything. And honestly I have goten a lot more sets I like lately than I have seen for a while before. I am kinda actually happy when they don´t make more sets like that each year since it would become very expensive lol. Well anyways you always can buy the gwps from others that don´t want it - though I wouldn´t expect Majisto to get sold off that cheap. Nope, Insiders is still free like VIP was. I am actually no fan of these.

Well then you can always dream for the next one. I really hope the shieldsmith gets new prints but likely it will just be the one from the medieval blacksmith again. As long as some prints are around it is just hard to get something else, sadly. -

There are neither enough male or female peasans torsos. But the question would be, with having peasant torsos in the Lion Knights castle, and more added in the town square, although I belive we will see the Lion Knights ones reused there - how likely would it be we would see new torsos in the gwp and not reused ones? Sure we will, but you can never have enough of these actually ;) -

Possible, but doesn´t necessarily have to. Eldorado didn´t have a themes set for its release either (actually it had none at all). I would have said a space gwp wouldn´t be that unlikely since we are also get the blacktron ship, which might be release at the same time like Galaxy Explorer and Lion Knights castle were but we actually have two rumoured space gwps already, one releasing in january and the other in may so it seems unlikely that it will be space. But can be really anything: castle, pirates, city, who knows. -

I think so. But actually I wouldn´t count on it beeing castle-themed -
You are still failing to understand. It was my personal preference for more knights being male in my medival based fantasy world (as in actually most other fantasy worlds to). I´ve never once said, Lego should make them male, nor that it is bad they way they are doing it.

I see two issued here. First of all Lego is doing these Sets again. Well big Sets mainly, but with the parts avaiable at pick a brick that shouldn´t matter to you then. Second issue would be that Lego doesn´t know how much of a certain product others sell.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
Black Falcon replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I wouldn´t have minded a well made siege in that set - but I see two main reason why it wasn´t included. First of all, you would need someone to bring and use that siege and since the Black Falcons are supposed friendly visitors in this set, them coming with siege wouldn´t make that much sense. The other reason is that this set is already expensive enough, so including siege would just add more money - or more likely, since they are working with a budget, they would have had to save the budged elsewhere, so I am actually happy the set is like it is. On the other site, I would also like to see Legos attempt to make realistic siege. But well, maybe one day. I think one of the main issued there might have been not, that there war a catapult included in general but how it was made. At least the one in the main set just looks horrible to me, while a better made one might have appealed more audience.- 2,976 replies

You´re taking your personal interest as something Lego has to do here. They are already bringing older sets back, but that only works with a certain amount of sets. With to many sets at once, the buyers would split among them based on what they like most. The more sets, the less buyers you will have per set, resulting with them not doing well. In the end that would lead to the opposite of what you want.

I don´t really see quality and design improvements from the free market honestly, on the contrary I see cheap stuff for cheap prices coming from china. I actually don´t think that Lego´s prices would be that different if there would be less competition. If you see the price difference between them and some chinese bricks, they are already way above them. But eitherway there is always a price people would be willing and able to pay and that one, I think, is more the mark where Lego can go with their prices, than what competitors do.

Well, if you plan to buy the Viking village, I would do so on double points. There is no way it will be discounted on Black Friday IMO. I am still considering to buy some sets that are going to retire, so the hard choice there is to buy them on double points, or waiting till black friday in hope they will be discounted there - or risking they are sold out by then lol. I guess I will wait till double points and look what I am doing then. I don´t have the problem that I don´t remember the sets I bought, but I feel your "problem" with buying and not opening them. I think I first need more place to really build them, since I would like to display at least some of them. Till then they still use a lot space boxed already though. -
Ah ok. Well that replacement doesn´t really work well, since it really breaking the reading flow. (And actually in the post underneath yours, it isn´t replaced at all) Well I actually like the 2013 castle line. And to complain about playsets for kids as <insert that tiresome argument>, I really don´t see the sense there. Anyways, sure I understand that the Kingdoms Series was a bit more detailed, and especially the castle of the 2013 line is lacking Minifigures. The main issue I see with that one actually is the Siege IMO.

Hmm, well I kinda think that it was more Ninjago that killed it of. With Castle sets beeing more aimed for kids - and likely adults not looking for them as much as they do now - I think with the limited amount of money most parents are willing/able to buy sets/presents for their kids you kinda have to decide if they want one ot the other. And with Ninjago beeing popular then and now among kids I think maybe castle didn´t got enough sales then (and there are other themes like city around aswell). Also they tried to bring castle back with a more modernized aproach instead. But I think another point is that they just have so many different themes around now, with an limited amount of sets you can produce that the real reason might be a lot things coming together. Well I´ve read that somewhere else already, so what exactly is the tiresome argument you are talking about here?

Well for normal system bricks I don´t see an issue, they have just to look that way. But I agree on special bricks, like plant parts, special bricks (like wall bricks), minifig accessoirs or animal moulds. They could just make their own thing.

Well rumours said March or April, with one later stating it would be april - we will see if that is true. Why?
