Yes, you are right about that, but this is a different story. It's a minifig from a regular set which we already have official pictures of. And do you honestly believe that White Suit Batman could come in anything but a Mr. Freeze set? I guess it could work in a set with the Penguin too, but he would have no reason to wear a different suit in that case really. No, what I meant is that TLG never releases prelim pics and does everything they can to keep them secret. The only chance for us to see them is for someone to sneak a photo of the retailers catalog, but that person would probably get in trouble if they did, so even that's unlikely. So yeah, the best chance of seeing any pictures is a month or so before the official release when the final pics start popping up online.

Tim Grayson? Dick Drake? Huh? Which Robin? Cheap DLC's...
Oky replied to Tim13's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Does this really need its own topic? Couldn't it have been discussed in the thread for the game? Anyway, yeah, the look is obviously that of Tim Drake, but the game states that it is Dick Grayson, and since Nightwing was never part of the main game, it kinda makes sense, so I guess we'll have to accept it as such. Or Carrie Kelly. -
This would be true for the SDCC pics, but what Hulk_Smash saw were preliminary set designs. How could they not be intended to be together if they show up on the same picture of a set? Good luck for that to ever happen.
-
And what exactly was the point of that? It's not like it was a far-fetched conclusion, plus making assumptions is partly what rumor threads are all about. This discussion is getting off-topic.
-
No, not exactly, but he was standing next to Mr. Freeze and Aquaman at SDCC, and Hulk_Smash confirmed that these figs come in a set together, so what else would it be? Plus this is exactly how his anti-freeze suit looked in The Batman.

Animal-people fighting each other on high-tech vehicles? This sounds like an unofficial Thundercats theme! I'm much more intrigued about this than about the initial speculations of this being an Ancient China theme! Can't wait to see some pics, although I am a bit disappointed that this will be another theme with a spinner-like gimmick.

Galaxy Quest, eh? Sounds fun! In all seriousness, this does sound like an Insectoids remake, and I always thought a modern approach to Insectoids could be interesting, with some insect-like minifigs like Twitch as just2good pointed out. We'll have to see how this turns out, but for now I'm intrigued. Sounds like 2013 is going to see lots of animal-minifigs.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
This is not true. Episodes like Rookies and Landing At Point Rain were such episodes that were pretty much what we think a great Clone Wars episode should be, so Filoni and his team proved that they are capable of producing good episodes for this show, which makes it so frustrating that they can't seem to get it right most of the time. I guess it's like the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "Chill of the Night", where the creators of a show that is deemed "too kiddie" by most of the older fans make only one episode in a style that pleases that specific type of fans just to show that they can do it "right" but choose not to, just for the sake of sticking to their interpretation of the source material. Do I smell a Revenge of the Sith reference? -
Well, we have 2 or 3 different sources: legomilk, who claims it's the same thing, and two people on Brickset, one of whom seems to claim that they are not the same thing. At the moment, signs seem to point to it being the same theme, but then again, what was that teaser image that was posted earlier and looked rather icy? I guess it's still a mystery for now.

Should Friends have it's own Sub-Forum?
Oky replied to LegoCityMann's topic in Forum Information and Help
I don't think Friends is big enough here on EB (yet) to have its own forum. I think the recent flourish of Friends MOCs was mainly due to the Summer of Friends building contest and will probably slow down quite a bit now. But while I think it fits into the Town forum fine, I do agree that it is slightly annoying to have Friends-related topics mixed in with Town ones, so a subforum makes sense I think. -
Great pictures, jazz_lego! I love the winter theme! But I agree, grinding up the "snow" mixture would make it look a bit more like snow. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the community build!

Great lighting again! Haha, nice one, Kiel! I guess it was just a matter of time before someone (ab)used the Toy Story figs for this meme. I agree with Walter though; since there's so much editing going on and the focus is on the context rather than the picture itself, this would have been better off in the funnies thread.

Thanks for this entertaining and detailed review, Ritz Brick! I don't really think two advent calendars count as an "annual tradition" though. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if this set doesn't sell well and they stop making these advent calendars. It's already ridiculously overpriced in the US, so I don't even wanna know how much people have to shell out for it in other countries. The price aside, I think this advent calendar is pretty good and an improvement over the first one. The inclusion of mostly generic army builder figs in favor of named characters such as Chewie and Gunray from the first one makes the figs more useful in my opinion. Even if you got dozens of the Battle of Naboo set, a Gungan soldier is still more useful than yet another Jar Jar. The mini models are of about the same quality as the ones from the first calendar, with some good ones and some not so good ones. But I agree, TLG definitely should hire Legostein to design these advent calendar models for them. And yeah, Maul Santa was not the best choice (despite the clever pun in his name). Sure, he is a fan favorite, and he has red tatoos, but that doesn't mean he makes a great Santa. What would be a good substitute? I think Obi Wan would suit the role well since he was a father figure to both Skywalkers and even has the beard for it. Although a Christmas Angel Leia would be lovely too!

Wow, that second pic looks great, Runamuck! Thanks! And sure, it's okay, I'm glad you guys have use for it.

Thanks everyone! That funny is more directed towards TV shows than movies. Which scene would that be? I'm just as puzzled as purpleparadox.
-
Thanks. And no, not really. This is not a mere gender reversal, it's a Friends version of the Avengers, and the Friends happen to be all girls.

Thanks, guys! Here are some more: Reboot by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The Philosopher's Crystal by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Wrong Earth by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The last one is making fun of the fact that "Midgard" and "Middle-earth" basically mean the same thing.

Hm, good point. I still think a Lone Ranger theme might be possible, but that's just because I see Super Heroes as its own license and not part of the Disney license. The way I see it, LotR replaced Harry Potter as the licensed fantasy theme, and it replaced Kingdoms as Lego's castle theme, so it's taking up two theme slots right now, so I don't see any other theme taking its place. Haha, true. I'm afraid the minifig will look just as odd since it will be all-blue, unless they finally give him printed boots. But this is getting off topic.
-
Unlikely since all the rumors said that Mr. Freeze doesn't have a vehicle, and it wouldn't make sense for them to put it in a book if they were going to release it in the future. But yeah, those models look great. Why do preliminary designs always have to look so much better than the final product? That vehicle would have made much more sense for Bane, punching his way through the ground rather than drilling. And that jet would make such a great parts pack! Oh well...

That's okay, just do your best. And you can always use LDD.

25 sign-ups in the first 48 hrs! Not bad! Indeed, let's! I'm surprised that you haven't run out of bricks after the other CBs, but I'm glad you're on board again! Well, we usually like to see a bit more effort in these CBs than just set modifications, but yes, technically that would be fine.

Thanks everybody. I'm not quite sure where I get all these ideas myself. Anyway, it's a new season, and that means new minifigures, and with great minifigures comes great potential for new funnies! So here is some fun with the new CMFs: Shakespeare in the Park by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Jessie the Shortest Cowgirl in the West by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr I Love Vanaheim by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Happy Labor Day everyone!

In the end credits of one of the Adventure Time episodes, the Frederator Studios logo was a LEGO bust of the Frederator robot. Also, in the 1989 movie The Wizard, the main character Jimmy can be seen playing with Duplo.

Both are about a team of four ninjas with with different colors/weapons/skills/personalities and their sensei fighting various evil creatures in a modern day setting. Ninjago was obviously modeled after those Saturday morning ninja TV shows from the 90s. And as it has already been said, there have been several crazy turtle-themed vehicles in the line of TMNT toys, so I wouldn't be surprised if TLG made similar ones, even if they have to make up their own. It probably wont have skeleton monster trucks or snake-shaped choppers, but the concept behind the theme would still be the same. And it certainly wouldn't be as different as the large variety of awesome steampunk vehicles that LoK would have to offer. Thank you! That goes a long way to prove my point! Well, Lone Ranger sets would be under the Disney license whereas TMNT is under the Nick license and will probably replace Spongebob. The Disney theme for 2013 is still unknown, so there's a good chance Lone Ranger might be it, although I'm still crossing my fingers for Monsters Inc/University sets. Then again, if Cars ends next year, we might get both, which would be even better!

Same here! I was afraid we were going to skip it, but I'm glad we wont! And yes, merging S7 and S8 into one combo-contest would make sense. For category A we will probably have to make an 8x8 vignette for either a S7 or S8 minifig, and for category B make a larger scene showing an interaction between a S7 and a S8 minifig, possibly together with minifigs from previous series (although limiting it to only the two most recent series would make it more challenging).
