  1. Cowabunga! These minifigs look great, especially Shredder! The turtles look pretty much how I imagined them to. I still wish they had the pupil-less eyes, but oh well. It's just a shame that there doesn't seem to be any way of attaching their weapons to their shells. The Shellraiser does look interesting and seems to come with a lot of useful parts, and at $60, it seems like a pretty good deal. And if all the other sets are cheaper than this (as the set numbers would indicate), even better. I'm guessing the other half of the team will come with the sewer lair set, along with Splinter. I hope the Foot Soldier and Kraang come in the smallest set too so that we can build armies of them! It's also a shame about the NYCC exclusives. Those are some of the coolest figs in this theme, so it's sad that only a thousand people will be able to get their hands on them. The Dark Turtle's face looks just like how the regular turtles's faces should look. But I shall let this frustrating news wash over me "like a river over a stone" as Splinter would say. Besides, if this line does well, we might see the four turtles without pupils in future sets. So even though I have never been a huge TMNT fan, I am excited for these sets.
  2. You just love to complain, don't you? As we've told you before, these are based on the current cartoon which you refuse to watch. Most of the characters you mentioned haven't even appeared in that show (yet), so it wouldn't make sense to include them. If you don't watch the show, don't expect to understand the sets based on it.
  3. Well, that Tumbler sure looks pathetic. But I don't mind. I think it's pretty much what we could expect at this price point, and I for one am glad the set is so cheap and still includes both vehicles and all three figs. At least the Bat looks decent, despite all the blue. The Spidey set is a bit underwhelming too. The Doomjet is kinda ugly, and I had envisioned something bigger after the initial descriptions of this set. The DBC building looks decent though. I like the inclusion of the fire escape, as nonsensical as it may be. Still, I will likely scrap this set for parts.
  4. Yeah, thanks to all the admins for all their hard work and for getting the old site back up for us to discuss all the new set pictures while we wait for the new server. What a hell of a time for EB to go down!
  5. Welcome back, Runamuck! Sorry if we made you feel unappreciated by not commenting on your last few batches. We still love your Avatar creations and always look forward to them, or at least I do. Not sure if a new thread was really necessary, but that's up to you and the mods to decide. Your last few Mocs were great, and so are these new ones! The probending arena is indeed much better now, although that slight curve on the outsides is a bit strange. I'm also loving those prison guard uniforms. The lighting in the first two pictures is much too dark for my taste though. I don't remember that scene being nearly as dark. It does! But I urge you to go back and watch A:TLA anyway, and then watch Kora. You wont regret it!
  6. Yeah, I like the pupil-less design better too, but I think they will do them with the pupils since that's how they look in the cartoon and it would make them more "Legoish" as some people say.
  7. is now your sensei!

      Walter

      Nice avatar, sensei. :)

  8. Praiter, that's awesome! You'll get a tag for sure! Here's mine: Sensei Oky. Bow to your sensei!
  9. No, I think that would be the worst case scenario as I'm sure the black suit in that series would look just as terrible as the regular suit.
  10. Interesting... Can we hide our ninja(s) in a MOC that we build for another contest/community build? Also, can the ninja be edited into the picture or does it actually have to be in the MOC?
  11. Congratulations, my lord. Set your weapons to fun. You may fire when ready. I hope you get lots of Lego and eat lots of ice cream!
  12. Awesome! I was expecting a Monster Fighters month, but a ninja month is even better (and was kinda overdue)! That's what you gotta love about EB, it always does the unexpected. Can't wait for the contest! And I can only repeat what others have said: Very nice job on the banner, Hinck! So, what else is left to say? Oh yeah... Ninja Go!
  13. Exactly. And considering that this gives TLG an excuse to give us Venom and Nick Fury in a cheap set, I think we as Lego fans should be thankful for the creation of the Spider-Cycle.
  14. Without having read the comic, I watched The Dark Knight Returns last week and I have to say that it was better than I thought it would be. Nicely dark and violent like a modern Batman movie should be. I was concerned the decision to split the story into two parts would make it half as good a movie as it could be, but it actually worked pretty well as a standalone movie and didn't feel too drawn-out. There were some parts that felt unnecessary, however, such as all the newsreports. I understand why they showed them, I just feel they could have gotten the point across with only half of them. Another thing I didn't like were the mutants. It was never explained where they came from or why they are called mutants, and they were said to be the worst gang Gotham has ever seen, but all of them except the leader seemed to be moronic cowards. They even got nervous when an old man showed a bit of defiance against them. Some backstory on Carrie Kelly would have been nice too. The overall story wasn't quite as good as that of Under the Red Hood or any of the DCAU films in my opinion, but one has to keep in mind that this was written in the 80's and was one of the first stories that made Batman the serious and dark character he is today, and after nearly 30 years, it still holds up pretty well. That said, I can recommend this to any Bat-fan, and after the way it ended, I can't wait to see Part 2!
  15. With the start of the new season, the rebel bloggers' Clone Wars reviews have started back up again! You can read our review of the first episode "Revival" here.
  16. As purpleparadox said, there's still plenty of time, so would you like me to sign you up?
  17. New commercials! I wonder why there isn't one for the ROTJ sets. Perhaps they're waiting for the Rancor Pit to be released before they make one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBFmaPNIDTc&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSytZayf1A4 "Say Sea Tin." I like how the Lego logo transforms in the TOR commercial though. By the way, I think it would be really helpful if there was a link to this thread in the main index.
  18. Yes, I can definitely see them making the bike dark blue instead of gray in order to make it look more fun and spider-manish. Sort of like a reverse color scheme of Cap's Avenging Cycle. Even if it doesn't, that would be an easy mod. As others have said, it does have its uses, and it isn't used often, so calm down and please watch the show (it really isn't that bad, and you can't know that it sucks if you haven't seen it) or at least do some research before spamming up the topic with off-topic rants. But if you must know:
  19. He "stashes" it on the Helicarrier. I suggest watching the cartoon in order to understand the sets.
  20. The official annoncement says that "a qualifying purchase is required and this product is not available for individual purchase" and "the limit will be one pack per person per week" and that quantities will be very limited, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for getting more than one of each set or being able to purchase them separately, although you might be lucky if the clerk in your local store is nice enough to let you buy one. There is no way to buy them online and the $25 price is merely what they estimate the value of one of these sets to be. Who would buy five minifigs at such a price anyway? IMO the original price of $18 was already too much. As for the TRU markups, yes, they are horrid. Even with the BOGO 40% off promotion, most purchases are still above MSRP, or barely below it in the best case.
  21. I don't think "Creator Expert" is a new subtheme. I think Aanchir is right when he says that it is part of the new rumored ranking system for marking the build difficulty on the boxes in 2013. Whether the Horizon Express (not Horizontal Express ) qualifies as a Creator set or not should probably be discussed in the thread for that set.
  22. Because they're cartoony mutant turtles. Their heads have a unique shape and wouldn't be as recognizable if they were human minifig heads. And judging by the Toy Story theme (which could have been done with more regular minifigure heads), the recognizability factor is a big deal to Lego. And quite frankly, I have no problem with that.
  23. Do you have a link or a hint at where we can find it? I tried finding it, but no such luck.
  24. Thanks everyone. Let's keep this thread going.
