  1. I'm glad to see so much interest again, and that ROTS is the favorite of so many other people. As long as you can relate it to ROTS, it should be fine. For example, if you build a scene of a random guy sitting at home and clipping his toenails and say that he was doing that while Obi Wan and Anakin were dueling on Mustafar, that probably wont cut it, but if you were to, say, show the death of a jedi at the hands of clones during Order 66 that was not shown in the movies but perhaps described in the EU, that would be fine. And yes, all customs are allowed. Just no clone brands please. You already did. As you can tell by the past community builds, anything goes, and that includes LDD MOCs, so you should have no problems entering.
  2. Sorry, but SERIOUSLY?! Freakin TMNT is supposed to get sets, but not Legend of Kora?? The upcoming series looks terrible, and the planned Michael Bay movie certainly doesn't sound any better. I know TMNT would probably be a more long lasting theme than LOK, but come on, LOK would be so much better as a theme! TMNT will just be Ninjago with turtles. Maybe I'm biased because I haven't watched much TMNT, so I shouldn't be so quick to judge, and I must admit that if it does happen, I'd probably buy a set or two. We'll just have to wait and see how this turns out. Actually, if Smashing Bricks is right, Ninjago will continue and probably coexist with TMNT.
  3. What do you think is a better buy, the new Ninjago Brickmaster book or Lasha's Bite Cycle? The book is $5 cheaper on Amazon right now, but also inludes 95 less pieces. Both come with the exact same figs and about the same amount of textured bricks. I'm not really interested in the models themselves, just the figs and parts. The Bite Cycle sounds like the better deal right now, but I figured I'd ask for you guys' opinions before making any final decisions. Well, the S8 diver is an old-school deep sea diver, so there's not really any vehicle/HQ that would suit him except maybe a somewhat old-looking ship, but I can't think of any current sets that would do the job. However, I would recommend the City of Atlantis, not only because it is a great set, but also because you could have the diver explore the temple instead of the two Atlantis divers. Or if you want a real HQ for him, you could get the Marina, modify the cafe into a divers headquarter, and have him dive off of the dinghy.
  4. Thanks everyone. I'm glad you're getting a good laugh out of this. What's ridiculous about the construction?
  5. "At last, we will have our revenge..." Now that the Astromech Workplace contest has been concluded, it's time to get back to our community builds! The last two were huge successes, so let's keep this tradition going with the thrid and last prequel trilogy build, the Revenge of the Sith! Like the previous builds, this is not a contest, just a chance to build with everybody in a common theme. Your entry can be anything in any size and any scale, from vehicles to creatures to vignettes, as long as it relates to Episode III: Revenge of the Sith! When you sign up, please make sure you have an open schedule. The deadline is October 31, 2012. Guidelines for posting: 1) Post your MOC in a separate topic in the LSW forum with the topic tag CBSWIII Revenge of the Sith. 2) Reply to this thread with a picture of your MOC and a link to the entry thread. 3) You may post as many pictures of your MOC as you like inside your entry thread. Pics should be no larger than 800x600. 4) Your entry will be added beside your name in the Sign-ups. 5) You may create as many new MOCs as you want, but please do your best to complete them before the deadline. 6. Intriguing. Is that from a catalog/Club magazine? Well, that image inside the circle seems to confirm my suspicion that this will be another one of those themes where a team of specialists goes around hunting for crystals, much like the first Arctic theme.
  7. Thanks! More views have been added!
  8. Welcome aboard the "Friendship", the Friends' yacht and party boat! It's the end of Summer of Friends, and what better way to conclude the summer with a relaxing day on Lake Heart! The Friend Ship by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The Friendship has everything you need to have fun in the sun! There is even a pool at the back of the boat. Here you can see the girls chilling next to it. Olivia is sitting in the pool eating ice cream (like she always loves to do), Andrea is about to jump in and splash her with water from the spring board, Mia is lounging on a chair nearby, and Stephanie is coming up the stairs from the cabin. Meanwhile, Olivia is driving the boat (since she's the only one who knows how to). There are also two lounge chairs and a parasol up here where Mia has joined Olivia to keep her company. What's this? The top of the boat lifts off to reveal a small room inside the ship where you can sit, relax, have a cold drink from the freezer, and either watch TV or read a book. Are you wondering where Stephanie was coming from when she joined the others at the pool? She was preparing a delicious meal for her friends of course! There is a small kitchen in the bowel of the ship, along with a bathroom where the girls can freshen up. You can find more images in my photostream. I hope you like it and wish you a beautiful Summer of Friends!
  9. THE BEFRIENDERS When a really mean boy called Loki threatens to destroy Heartlake City, the girls reveal that they are superheroes and race out of Olivia Stark's tree house to save the day! They call themselves the Befrienders and fight evil with the power of friendship! The members of this team are: Olivia Stark the Iron Girl - Known as a brilliant Inventor and a master of science and robotics, Olivia built herself a virtually indestructible outfit which allows her to fly and shoot beams from her hands and chest. What makes it unique is that it is powered by that powerful thing in her heart - Friendship! Stephanie the Goddess of Thunder - Stephanie is of Nordic descend and has god-like powers. With her hammer Meow-nir she can fly and control thunder! Emma Banner the Pink Hulk - Emma is known to be rather moody sometimes, and after a fateful day where she fell asleep in the tanning salon and was exposed to an incredible amount of UV rays, she now turns into a big pink monster whenever she is angry! With her big, strong arms, she loves to give big, friendly hugs to her enemies, which defeats the evilness inside of them! But even as a big pink rage monster, she is still very conscious about fashion. Note that she is wearing purple pants which are very "in" this season. Mia Romanoff the Pink Widow - Being an animal lover, Mia chose a spider as her superhero motif. She used to be a Russian spy and is skilled with all kinds of weapons and fighting styles. Andrea Rogers a.k.a. Miss America - The result of a government experiment, Andrea is a super soldier with an unbreakable, fabulous looking shield. She always wanted to be an American idol, so she calls herself Miss America. She leads the Befrienders into battle on her Befriending Cycle,. Here are some more views of the Stark Tower Tree House: At the back of the tree house, there is a ladder to get up to the balcony, and a little bird house on the side. Here you can get an unobstructed view at the Pink Hulk. Her arms and neck are posable. Whatever you do, don't tell her that she looks fat. I hope you enjoyed this little Friends cross-over with the Avengers. I was thinking about making a friendsified Quinjet or Helicarrier as well, but those wouldn't have fit within the parameters of this category. I hope someone else will make those in the future. Have a nice Summer of Friends!
  10. As of this writing, we have about 24 hrs to post our entries, correct?
  11. Yes it would, but sadly it will be an asteroid field, a black ball with many asteroids printed on it, according to rumors. I agree. Any new clone pilot would be welcome, whether it would be those from TCW or simply a Phase I Clone Pilot with an accurate helmet (without a fin). The Coruscant set is the only planet set that sounds interesting out of this series to me, so I hope they wont disappoint.
  12. Well, it seems we might get Maya Mystica after all:
  13. Yeah, I was thinking this too sometimes. The Empire should have stuck to AT-RTs and Juggernauts. This would have made a great basis for a single pane Star Wars funny, but now it's kinda pointless.
  14. Like purpleparadox said, I doubt that anyone over the age of 5 would want most of those themes as system sets. The reason why the Pixar and Mickey Mouse sets did fairly well as system themes is because they appeal to people of all ages. The only exception maybe is the Disney Princess line which indeed has a lot of potential as a system line and would probably appeal to a fair number of TFOLs/AFOLs as well. We can only wait and hope that TLG decides to go system with those sets like they did with Cars, but as for the other licenses, I'm just fine with them staying Duplo.
  15. Yeah. I believe they came out around this time the past few years too.
  16. Well, the City and Star Wars advent calendars are now officially available, so where's the Friends advent calendar? There are listings for it on ebay, plus I received some of the light-aqua accessories from it from Pandora for winning the Friendsify your Avatar contest, so it must be available somewhere. Anybody know more about this?
  17. Don't know if this is news or not (didn't see it mentioned in the last few pages), but a new Ninjago Brickmaster book is now available: It includes Cole ZX and Lasha. Looks pretty good to me. It seems to include some useful parts, and I like that small version of Kai's Blade Cycle, although it's odd to see Cole riding it. The only disappointing thing is that the snake staff doesn't come with a symbol tile. And yeah, it has flick-fire snake missiles. I guess this was inevitable.
  18. Nice armors. They certainly suit the characters (no pun intended). Although it begs to question why Thor would need a mech, but I guess it might come in handy when fighting certain enemies like the Hulks. I like his giant hammer. If you would have said "others" instead of "other avengers", this would have been a nice haiku.
  19. I must agree with my fellow Clone Wars critics here. The trailer merely seems to show more of what we've already seen, and that battle on Pandora Onderon is indeed illogically biased, even more so than usual. Of course Filoni claims that the good stuff from this season wasn't shown in the trailer, but they said that about the last trailer too and "the good stuff" turned out to be the worst. So I'm not very hopeful. I know right? And this must be a pretty important mission too, if they are being briefed by Mace Windu and get cover fire from Delta Squad. A 12 bladed lightsaber fight with only 6 people? That would certainly be interesting. But I agree, it would be pretty awesome if Sidious defeated his old apprentice and his brother. It would get rid of the unnecessary Sith apprentices and make Sidious look even stronger. But that probably wont happen because it's The Clone Wars and nothing truly awesome ever happens there.
  20. Here are some unused funnies from my Spider-Man review: The 4th Wall Breaking Spider-Man by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Iron Fist VS. Iron Man by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr On one of the alternate Earths in the Marvel multiverse, Spider-Man's webbing comes out of a more spider-accurate place. 21. Hi, RH. I'm glad you're still working on this and haven't given up. I don't think there were any complete Hogwarts MOCs since you last posted in here (unless you count the Hogwarts Community Build), but there are two other great Hogwarts MOCs that I haven't seen mentioned in here yet. First, there is this playset. It's not highly accurate to the movies, but it has some nice interior detail which might be inspiring to you. Click the picture to see the Flickr set. And then there is this beauty! This is probably out of your league, but might inspire you nevertheless. Again, click the pic for more.
  22. Since yesterday, the Multiquote option doesn't work for me, and whenever I click a link, it opens it up in TWO tabs. Any idea why this might be? This only happens on Eurobricks, and I'm running the latest version of Firefox on Windows 7. Edit: No idea how it happened, but it's back to normal now. Weird.
  23. 1. Yes, but the accident is supposed to make him stronger, not weaker. 2. It doesn't matter who gave him the name; he is not really an octopus if he can't use all of his eight limbs. 3. Sure, he is still a brilliant scientist, but all of his plans failed, and the real mastermind was Osborn. Anyway, this is getting off-topic, so let's agree to disagree. Besides, this is Lego, so even though the minifig looks like the Doc Ock from the show, he can have any personality we want in our imagination.
  24. Thanks again, everyone! And I just learned that this year is Spidey's 50th anniversary! How fitting! Hm, you're right. But I think the muscles on the old one were a bit too subtle. Being able to see their outlines clearly does make the new one seem more detailed though, even if in a cartoony way (which as you said is appropriate, given the source material). That's just my opinion though. Care to explain why? [rant]He does look interesting, but what I don't like is his character. They make look really weak in the show, but physically and mentally. He can't move or breath without his tentacles, so his organic limbs usually just dangle down from his body. What's the point of calling yourself Doctor Octopus if half of your limbs are useless? But what's even worse is that he works for Norman Osborn who treats him like a child. All this makes him a pretty pathetic villain as opposed to his usually awesome depictions like in Spider-Man 2 or The Spectacular Spider-Man. He's supposed to be a criminal mastermind with eight strong limbs, not some emo creep with four tentacles on Osborn's payroll. [/rant] True. No, no more Avengers sets I believe, but all signs point to us getting Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 sets next year.
