  1. Actually, natural talent had little to do with it this time. Perhaps it's your duel strategy that needs some work. Same here! I suppose we could have an epic winner-takes-all rematch, if you're up for it.
  2. Diana Fabray VS. Carlos Peerce Round 2 Diana______________________________Carlos High - 0_____________________________Crucio - 1 Mid - 0______________________________Low - 1 Low - 0______________________________High - 1 High - 0 _____________________________Expelliarmus - 0 Crucio - 1____________________________Mid - 0 Health: 0____________________________Health: 4 (3) Carlos hated it when someone else used the Cruciatus curse on him. He shook off the pains, stood up, and yelled "Crucio!" Soon enough, Diana was screaming and twitching on the floor again. Among the agonizing pain, she tried to hit her opponent with curses, but each one missed. Carlos walked up to her and cast one curse at her legs, and one at her head, finishing her off for good. "Thanks," he said as he walked away, "this was amusing." Winner: Carlos Peerce Interesting idea using the same DS twice, KDM, but apparently not a good one. Too bad. Congrats on another easy win, CMP.
  3. Nah, just pay attention from now on. Diana Fabray VS. Carlos Peerce Round 1 Diana______________________________Carlos High - 0_____________________________Mid - 1 Mid - 0______________________________Expelliarmus - 0 Low - 0______________________________Crucio - 1 High - 0 _____________________________High - 1 Crucio - 1____________________________Low - 0 Health: 3____________________________Health: 4 After his humiliating last duel, Carlos went back to the Slytherin common room. There, sitting on one of the leather sofas was Diana Fabray, polishing her nails. "What happened to you?" she asked, hardly interested, "You look terrible." "I just got beaten in a duel by that stupid Hufflepuff Turkoglu and his friend Flashburn" Carlos replied grimly. Diana immediately sat up straight. "No way! Me too!" she exclaimed, with a mixture of surprise and anger in her voice. "This is so unacceptable! No Hupplepuff should be that good! Those brats need to be taught a lesson!" "Agreed," Carlos replied. "Maybe we should practice amongst ourselves so that we are prepared the next time we face them," Diana suggested. Carlos looked at her with an insulted look on his face "Bah! Carlos Peerce requires no practice," he told her. "Oh come on, don't be such a baby!" Diana said provokingly. After a pause, she said: "Fine, if you don't wanna practice, I challenge you to a duel!" Carlos chuckled. "Alright then, I'm in," he said. "After that humiliation, another victory over you will be just the thing to pep me up." "We'll see about that, pretty-boy," Diana said and they both drew their wands. Carlos opened the duel by casting a spell at Fabray that scarred her waist. She tried to hit him back, but he disarmed her before she could. With his opponent wand-less, Peerce took the opportunity to perform the Cruciatus curse on Diana. She shrieked and dropped to the floor, twitching. Once the effect wore off, she quickly grabbed her wand and shot a spell toward Peerce's head, but she missed. Carlos did the same, but being a more talented dueler, he hit her spot-on. Diana got frustrated and cried "Crucio!" Carlos didn't see this coming and found himself writhing on the floor a moment later similar to how Diana just did. Ouch! Quite a bumpy start, KDM, but anything can still happen. Send me the Round 2 DSs please.
  4. Take that, Slytherin slime! Hehe, good duel! But CM, you used my Round 1 DS instead of the Round 3 one. It's supposed to go Expelliarmus, Stupefy, Mid, Low, High, but fortunately that doesn't change the outcome by much. Perhaps I should start sending separate PMs too... at least when CM is adjudicating. I'll do it. Go ahead and send your DSs.
  5. Which is the weirdest Lego action theme? Time Cruisers or NinjaGo? Hi, action fans! Lego action themes are among the most imaginative themes Lego has produced and can get pretty wild, which is partly the draw of these action/adventure oriented themes. However, some themes take it a little too far. In 1996, TLG introduced the Time Cruisers theme and followed it up with Time Twisters the next year. This was a time-travel theme filled with crazy colorful vehicles that revolved around the adventures of Dr. Cyber and his apprentice Tim and their efforts to prevent the evil Time Twisters from messing up the past. Fourteen years into the future, Lego releases another rather colorful theme with skeletons as the bad guys: NinjaGo. Filled with ninjas, dragons, vehicles, giant spinning tops, and other strange things, this theme follows the quest of a handful of ninjas bent on becoming masters of the ancient art of Spinjitzu and stopping the evil Lord Garmadon from acquiring a series of magical weapons and taking over the world. While both of these themes have the plot of a cheesy Saturday morning cartoon, they have their upsides too. Both are an excellent source of parts as they come with many accessories and pieces in rare colors. They also come with some pretty cool minifigs too. However, there's no denying that these are certainly some of the strangest themes Lego has ever put out. The question is: Which is the weirdest? Which of these themes makes you go "WTF? What the hell were they smoking when they designed this?" the most? Please vote and share your thoughts! If there's another theme that you think deserves the title, please name it, if there are enough votes for it, I might add it to the poll.
  6. That's also a redundant question. Does Back To The Future ring a bell? No, the reason is that a flying boat with wheels makes a way more interesting time machine than a friggin phone booth! I doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask your local store.
  7. Sweet! Thanks again, LT! Now we at least know that these will be at Tiny Turbo scale, which is great since that means they'll be quite affordable. Sigh. Here we go again with the "too many specialized parts" complaints... I mean really, after Toy Story, is this even a surprise to anyone? It would have been very hard to make a good Lightning McQueen out of existing bricks, especially at this scale. Can't wait to see Ultimate Build McQueen! Ka-Chow!
  8. Neat. Thanks for the pic! Where is it from? A catalog? Let's hope Jack really has that double face (although I was secretly hoping for a funny scared face). Oh, and in defense of the Durmstrang ship, it's a fantasy vessel propelled by magic, so it doesn't need to have realistic proportions. Plus, you gotta love the color scheme. However, I can't deny that the size, lack of minifigs, and use of the 4+ Pirates hull makes it a pretty bad set. But please, no more bashing of this classic HP set - It's HP Month after all!
  9. Thanks everyone! That would be bad too, yes, but considering that they were "pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach" as it says in the book, I think this is bad enough. Well, then you'll be glad to know that my next MOC is indeed based on that movie! Some more fun facts about this MOC: - The title of the MOC is the same as that of the chapter on the HBP DVD that depicts this scene. - In case you haven't noticed already, Ron's head is the one from the keychain, and the bird on his head is attached to the pin that comes out of it. - Unlike in my humorous Spell Practice MOC, I intentionally used solely gray parts for the scenery in order to capture the sad undertone of the scene.
  10. Is there a pic of this keychain? I haven't heard about it. And what do you mean by card holder? Those two bricks and a plate that come with each spinner pack? Oh c'mon, it wasn't that bad. I really liked them as a kid because they really sparked my imagination (and because I had recently seen BTTF when they came out ). And even though the two themes share some aspects (strange vehicles, skeletons as baddies, a wide color palette), NinjaGo is much weirder than TimeCruisers since it also includes ninjas, dragons, and a martial art involving giant spinning tops. So yeah, I vote for NinjaGo too. It might be interesting to open an actual poll for this. I hope you realize the redundancy of that question. It's just like one of those "Any news yet?"-posts. If anyone would have managed to get any of these sets, they probably would've gloated about it already. Let's hope the NinjaGo event at TRU this weekend is indeed a type of launch party. I'll try to attend it and will report back if I do.
  11. Open up and say "Aaaah". There's an "a" in "Okay". Uh... no, but... uhm... I became a magus quicker than you, so I'm kinda more advanced than you. Yeah, that's it. To be honest, I was just trying to say something cool, and that's the best thing I could think of. This is gonna be a close one! DS sent.
  12. Walmart has Build-a-Zurg for the ridiculously low price of $10! They also have the AT-OT with Dropship for $199!
  13. Geez, I said I was sorry. And I did read the rules, several times in fact, but the title of the contest and the first sentence of the description are rather misleading.
  14. Ah, thanks Walter. That's what I figured. Frankfurt Flashburn VS. Carlos Peerce Round 3 Frankfurt____________________________Carlos Expelliarmus - 0 ______________________Mid - 0 Low - 0______________________________High - 1 Stupefy - 0___________________________Crucio - 0 Mid - 0______________________________Low - 1 High - 0_____________________________Expelliarmus - 0 Health: 0____________________________Health: 3 As the third round began, Frankfurt saw Carlos attacking him similarly to how he did at the start of the last round, so he quickly disarmed him again. He tried shooting a spell at Peerce while he hurried after his wand, but missed. Once Carlos had his wand back, he fired a spell at Frankfurt's head which caused him some memory loss. He looked at Peerce with a confused expression on his face and said: "Wait... what am I doing here again?" "Losing," replied Carlos, "Crucio!" But in that moment, it all came back to Frankfurt, and he quickly said: "Stupefy!" The two powerful spells hit each other just like they did before. With the end of this round drawing near, Frankfurt got nervous and fired a spell toward Carlos, but the Slytherin ducked and yelled: "Locomotor Mortis!" Frankfurt's legs immediately locked together and he fell over. Knowing he had won, Carlos walked up to Flashburn with a taunting smile and pointed his wand at the Hufflepuff's head. He said: "This will teach you a lesson not to mess with Carlos Peerce, muggle-lover!" But in that moment, a voice from behind him said "Hey Peerce!" Carlos turned around and saw Okay Turkoglu standing in the doorway. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size!" As Frankfurt removed the curse from his legs and ran away, Carlos got into his dueling position. "Let's go, Candy-boy," Carlos said, and Okay got into a fighting position as well... To Be Continued. Winner: Carlos Peerce Sorry, CM. I guess you just got unlucky in the last two rounds. Let's see if my luck will be different. Should we start sending our DSs to you now? Don't forget to update your profiles!
  15. Yeah, sorry for the confusion; I didn't see that Hinck wrote that and was assuming it had to be something during winter break. That should be fine. I think the rule only regards the castle.
  16. That would be even more impossible to make than the maze challenge! As a hint: You don't have to recreate the whole stadium, you could just make a part of it, and focus on making it look great.
  17. Uhm, yeah, I just linked to it. Yes, that was funny, but I really love the dogfight sequence at the beginning! I'd watch a PQ movie just to see an extended version of that! Riiight.
  18. You could build a rough draft of your entry in LDD first, constantly checking the piece count. Cutlass Iz's suggestion is good too. You mean the third Tri-wizard challenge? Yeah, that would be very hard to do with all the hedges and traps. Why don't you just make the regular Quidditch pitch with a team practicing on it?
  19. Frankfurt Flashburn VS. Carlos Peerce Round 2 Frankfurt____________________________Carlos Expelliarmus - 0 ______________________Mid - 0 Mid - 0______________________________Low - 1 Low - 0______________________________Expelliarmus - 0 Stupefy - 0___________________________Crucio - 0 Low - 0______________________________High - 1 Health: 2____________________________Health: 3 The fight continued as Carlos made an attempt at shooting a spell at Frankfurt, but he managed to disarm Peerce again first. Frankfurt cast a spell at his opponent, but Carlos quickly jumped behind a desk for cover. He grabed his wand off the floor and fired a trip jinx at Flashburn who immediately fell over. As the Hufflepuff got back up, Carlos jumped out from behind the desk and yelled "Expelliarmus!" The wand flew out of Frankfurt's hand. He quickly ran after it and once he had it back, he pointed it at Peerce and said "Stupefy!" But at the same time, the Slytherin had cast the Cruciatus curse, and the two powerful spells collided in the air in an explosion of sparks. Blinded by the light, the two tried to hit each other with spells. Frankfurt's spell unfortunately missed, but Carlos' spell hit Flashburn's hat, setting it on fire. The second round was over, so Frankfurt used the break to put out the fire. Nice comeback, CallMePie! Let's see who will triumph in the next round! Send me those Round 3 DSs please. By the way, is this correct? When a Stupefy meets a Crucio, they cancel each other out since they're the same kind of spell? Even when both duelists are naturally talented?
  20. I have plenty of them waiting to be posted, so I'm just waiting for JD to post his next one. He is still very busy (and a little sick too), but his Christmas break is coming up, so there's no excuse for him not to post it by Christmas. If he doesn't have it by then, I'll just keep whacking him until he does.
  21. Okay, sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. It does say Made in China on the back, but I guess that relates more to the content, so there's not really any telling of where the packaging is made. Please, I don't want to start another flame war about this. Back on Topic: I'd definitely love to see a little mini-movie produced to promote this theme like they did for Atlantis!
  22. It's a device for kids to save up some money. And sorry, but yes, I do mind. I'm not gonna spend $20 on a cardboard box with some common bricks in it just to review it. That's because it's not really him; it's just an impostor with his head and nemes. There's no excuse for the spelling mistake though, except that the workers who manufacture these maybe don't know English spelling. This is not the first time there has been spelling errors on a magnet set. Lego really should start checking these before selling them.
  23. Okay, sorry it took so long, but I finally managed to upload the pics: Front Back I bet they will show up on S@H the next day, rendering my efforts pointless. By the way, have you noticed that the website has been updated with a bunch of stuff? It now has an awesome commercial, bios for all the characters, and this neat downloadable poster! Looks like Helena is a Lara Croft type character. Makes sense, with that hair.
  24. That's OK, I can wait. I know, it was a joke. Thanks by the way! Great, thanks. Frankfurt Flashburn VS. Carlos Peerce Round 1 Frankfurt___________________________Carlos Low - 0______________________________Crucio - 1 Expelliarmus - 0 ______________________Low - 0 High - 0_____________________________Expelliarmus - 0 Mid - 1______________________________High - 0 Stupefy - 1__________________________Mid - 0 Health: 4____________________________Health: 3 When Frankfurt heard that Carlos was back from vacation, he was very interested in dueling him. After all, he had learned some tricks while he was gone and even defeated Diana. He bravely challenged Peerce to a duel. Unimpressed, the Slytherin accepted. The two talented maguses found themselves an unused classroom and began. Flashburn shot a spell at Carlos' legs, but he leaped out of the way and yelled "Crucio!" Immediately, Frankfurt felt indescribable pain. Among us screams of agony, he found the strength to say "Expelliarmus" and the wand flew out of Carlos' hand. As the pains left his body, Frankfurt got up and aimed his wand at his opponent, but Carlos had already gotten his wand back and disarmed the Hufflepuff. Peerce fired another spell toward Frankfurt's head, but he ducked just in time, picked up his wand, and cast a spell that hit Carlos right in the stomach, causing him to cough up a large slug. Carlos tried to do a similar thing to Frankfurt, but he quickly stunned him, and the Slytherin missed. Frankfurt is in lead after the first round. Can he keep it up? We'll find out as soon as I get the Round 2 DSs!
  25. I said it before, and I'll say it again: I don't like the S3 mummy. It looks like a TPed Army Man due to the green and white colors. The PQ mummies are way better, even if they don't have as much printing on their limbs. And since it is released at about the same time as the PQ line, it's pretty useless. However, the Studios mummy is still the best.
