  1. Thanks, but to be fair, I borrowed the techniques for the birds from SlyOwl. You really should watch the movie; it's one of the best! Yeah, trust me, I tried to find a way to make them yellow, but unless I would have used the epaulets idea for all of them (which I didn't want to do), there was no way. Thanks, I tried to make it as Hogwarts-ish as possible. For the window, I tried to recreate one of those Hogwarts-typical gothic arches. It didn't work out as well as I had hoped, but still works. But what do you mean, "read about it"? You mean you haven't even read the book yet? I hope I didn't give any spoilers. Maybe you should watch it (again) too. It's quite hilarious when Ron stumbles in with Lavender and says "What's with the Birds" and finds himself being attacked by them in the next moment. The rest of the scene is rather touching, so they did a good job at balancing humor with tragedy. Yes, but this hairpiece fit so well for her that I just had to use it, and since I'm a purist, I wont paint it. Besides, it's more of a dark blond anyway. Thanks, glad you like it. As I said, the bird design wasn't originally mine, but yes, Lavender is from me, even though The Penguin's custom Lavender looks very similar. As for the roof, I intended this to be kind of a cross section and only added the stairs and hallway for some extra depth. I didn't know what to do for the top, so I just left it as it is. Happy Harry Potter Month everyone!
  2. Sorry to be so gloaty, but we told you so, Mr. It's-so-obvious. There are many EU stories which have Maul surviving or being resurected one way or another, my personal favorite being the SW Visionaries version: It would be pretty badass if this was the version they would use in the show, but I doubt it. I agree, though, that it is pretty stupid to say Maul is still alive. This show is trying too hard to do fan service.
  3. Not really, unless you count New Pirates as an action theme (it sure was as short-lived as one), but then again, Lego hasn't been doing non-City calendars for long, and since there's not really any other theme to fill the spot, it will likely be one of these two. Yeah, but that's a big "if" at the moment as we have no confirmation on the line continuing, so NinjaGo is the more likely candidate for an advent calendar at the moment, especially if that line continues as well. Have fun having your fingers crossed for a year.
  4. Nice vignette. The paneled wall with the different shades of brown looks nice. This is meant to be inside the Burrow, I presume? However, I can't help but feel that this is a rip-off of my Spell Practice vignette. The only thing that you could improve on this is to replace Harry's cylinder body with differently colored studs. At this point, it looks like his whole body is blue. Perhaps you can do two blue studs and one black one to represent the black legs that he has in the burrows set. He did this during the holidays while being underage? Oooh, someone is about to get some letters!
  5. Coincidentally, I got the Lego Harry Potter game today, so I'll really be in the Potter mood these weeks!
  6. Greetings, fellow Potter fans! In order to kick off Harry Potter Month ( ), I present to you my latest Potter MOC. It's a scene from the movie adaption of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince where Hermione orders the flock of canaries she had conjured to keep her company to attack Ron because he was dating Lavender Brown at the time, much to her disgust. Harry later comforted her and told her this was the same way he felt about seeing Ginny together with Dean. "Won-Won!" Hope you like it.
  7. Yay, it's official! Thank you so much, Hinck and all others involved! Can't wait to see what other fun activities we will see in this magical month! Should we start "potterfying" our avatars now? Oh, and good job fixing the banner. Bellatrix is still a little covered on my screen, but that's just the way I choose to have it, no more fixing necessary.
  8. I'm surprised to see how popular the hazmat guy is, considering how limited his use is.
  9. Fugazi has got a point. Seeing how Lego seems to be desperately trying to turn NinjaGo into a cash-cow, it would not surprise me at all if they made an advent calendar for it too, leaving PQ in the sand (pun intended). After all, NinjaGo has a much higher variety of characters and sets to be put into a calendar. I mean, what would a PQ calendar have to offer? More mummies? More small vehicles and statues?
  10. Ha! Now that's a coincidence! The fact that he is wearing a Blacktron symbol, however, is not. They're clearly implying that this is the organization they speak of, even though they're not naming it for some reason. So, I guess his bio wasn't very helpful after all, but I think they would have mentioned it if he was supposed to be the leader of Blacktron, so I'd say the answer to JeagerEX's question is No. However, there's nothing that says he couldn't be the Blacktron leader in your personal Lego universe.
  11. Don't worry, you only need to take out less than a thousand of them. Okay, okay, just making sure.
  12. Some tough questions there, Fangy, but I figured out the answers for me. 1. The Punk Rocker, mostly because he is so well done, from the pink mohawk, to the electric guitar (finally a Lego guitar!), down to the ripped jeans! 2. So far, Series 2 is the best for me. 3. I think the great thing about these minifigures is that we get minifigs we would have never imagined getting. 4. S4 is indeed an improvement over the past series to me since there's barely any fig I wouldn't love to have (except the viking or surfer maybe). By the way, the one you call a Dancer is an ice/figure skater.
  13. It's possible, I suppose, but we have no confirmation of that. He could just be an elite or something. We'll have to wait until the bios for the Series 3 figs appear on Lego.com. Does this really need its own thread?
  14. Frankfurt Flashburn VS. Diana Fabray Round 2 Frankfurt___________________________Diana Low - 1 _____________________________Mid - 0 Mid - 0______________________________Low - 1 Expelliarmus - 0 ______________________High - 0 Stupefy - 1___________________________Crucio - 0 High - 1______________________________Low - 0 Health: 2____________________________Health: 0 "You disgust me," said Diana. "How can you wear muggle clothes and not feel filthy? Not to mention you look ridiculous in them!" She fired a spell at Frankfurt, but he ducked and cast another spell at her feet, making her fall again. "It's called being open-minded," Frankfurt said, "you should try it sometime". Lying on the ground, Diana shot a curse at Flashburn's feet in return and making him fall as well. As they got up, she tried to cast another spell at him, but he disarmed her before she could finish. Diana quickly ran to her wand, and once she had it back, she pointed at Frankfurt and yelled "Crucio!" But at the same time, Flashburn cast a very well-executed stunning spell which broke through her curse stunned her pretty good. Dizzy and weakened, Diana tried to hit Frankfurt's legs again, but missed. Frankfurt looked amused. "Next time, think twice before you mess with a Hufflepuff," he said, and with those words, he shot a spell at her already spinning head, causing her to loose consciousness and fall on her back. When she came back to her senses, she saw Flashburn being celebrated by his fellow Hufflepuffs. This had not been her day. Winner: Frankfurt Flashburn Sorry, KDM, looks like toughness is no match against natural talent. Good luck next time. And Congrats, CM. Looks like you're off to a good start as a magus. Please update your profiles now.
  15. OK, then I wont serve soft. DS sent! Is it that hard to go to your messenger, select your last message, and hit reply? And CallMePie. This game is getting a bit boring with so few people to duel.
  16. That's why it's in the action themes forum, not historic. Where does it say we're getting those? I suppose we could add the headband and sticker from a couple of pages ago to the list though. True. By no means is this a confirmation, but a rumor at the least. It would make sense for them to make a videogame for this theme though. It would be pretty fun to beat up skellies with kung fu (or "spinjitzu"), ride dragons, and drive crazy skeleton vehicles.
  17. Thanks! I'll send you my DS when CF accepts. Hm, that's a good reason, I suppose, but as long as the Adj pays attention, it would be better to do it my way, I think. It's up to you though. Frankfurt Flashburn VS. Diana Fabray Round 1 Frankfurt___________________________Diana Stupefy - 1__________________________High - 0 Low - 0_____________________________Crucio - 1 Mid - 0______________________________Low - 1 Expelliarmus - 1 ______________________Expelliarmus - 0 Low - 1______________________________Mid - 0 Health: 3____________________________Health: 3 When the Hogwarts students returned to the school after their trip to Hogsmead, Diana was still dripping of mud from her disastrous duel with Okay Turkoglu. As they scuttled into the entrance hall, a strict voice loudly said: "Miss Fabray!" It was Professor McGonagall who was now approaching Diana, nostrils wide. "Can you not leave the school without starting a single fight?" "But I was just..." Diana started defending herself, but McGonagall cut her off: "No excuses, Miss Fabray! I want you to keep your duels within the Dueling Club! Since you seem to be so keen on dueling someone so badly, Mr. Flashburn from Hufflepuff has volunteered to go against you in a fair duel". Frankfurt stepped forward from the crowd with a confident smile on his face. After he had recently became a magus and discovered a similar natural talent in spells as Turkoglu, he was sure he could avenge his defeat against Diana from their practitioner days. Diana was reluctant to duel so soon again, especially under supervision, but since she didn't really had a choice, she accepted. They took their positions and raised their wands. Diana gave Frankfurt a hateful look. "You Hupplepuffs think you're sooo talented," she sneered. "But I will show you what true power is!" She cast a spell at Frankfurt's head, but he quickly stunned her, causing her to miss. However, that only made her more infuriated. She cried "Crucio!" and Frankfurt immediately dropped to the floor, squirming in agonizing pain. He tried to shoot some spells back at her, but none of them hit their target. Before the effect of the cruciatus curse wore off, Diana hit him with another spell. In order to ensure he wouldn't try to attack her, she wanted to disarm him, but as she was saying Expelliarmus, Frankfurt did the same. The disarming charms left their wands at about the same time, but Frankfurt's was stronger and hit the wand out of Diana's hand. She quickly picked it up again, but before she could fire a spell at Flashburn, the Hufflepuff shot one at her legs, causing her to fall flat on the floor as if an invisible carpet was dragged out from under her feet. As she got back up, McGonagall announced the second round. After the first round, both duelists are on the same health level. Let's see what happens in the second! Please send those DSs my way.
  18. Greetings, City folk! I don't know if this is news or not, but I thought I should point it out. I got a copy of 4900 Fire Helicopter from Target yesterday and when I opened it at home, I was surprised to find that it includes a new kind of small 3-blade propeller instead of the old kind as shown on the box bag art and instructions. Here is the bricklink-link. It's more angular than the old kind and is made out of a very smooth kind of ABS, the same kind that bricks and plates are made of. Its shape is very similar to the larger 9 diameter propeller that is included in the same set. What's even better is that it comes with an extra, so you get two brand new propellers in a $4 set! According to bricklink, it comes in 30012 Mini Airplane as well. I personally like it better than the old kind which may have worked well for Fabuland, but not so much for City. Here is a comparison pic: I hope this was informative.
  19. That really would be the worst case since you wouldn't be able to see anything. Maybe I can send it to a family member who can upload it from their phone... As Anchir said, like previous coin banks, most of it is cardboard and only some of the back is made of Lego. And no, it does not have any minifigs unfortunately, unless you consider a black scorpion a fig.
  20. I hope the scientist comes with an extra test tube. He looks cool, almost like Dr. Horrible. Yes, but hers seems to have some kind of ribbon printed on it!
  21. Yes, that would be appreciated. And I know you said that we shouldn't ask things twice, but you didn't answer my actual question about overhang. Wait... Is there a minifig limit? Do they count as pieces?
  22. Oh. My. God. Screw Series 3, this is amazing! It's everything I hoped it would be! All those new pieces are more than welcome and will be very useful! The Punk and Frankenstein with his monster are probably my favorites. The latter two make their Studios counterparts look like, well, actors in bad costumes. This series looks so good that I might actually buy a whole box this time! Can't wait! However, is it just me, or is the musketeer slightly disappointing? I was kinda expecting it to be the Spartan of this theme, but even the Geisha seems more interesting than him since he doesn't really have that wow-factor. Maybe I just had my hopes too high. He's still an excellent fig though. When WhiteFang sees this, he'll probably make another minifigs poll.
  23. Yes. My real last name is Yaramanoglu, but I thought Turkoglu was easier and more recognizable due to the NBA player. I have a more on-topic question: Am I the only one who doesn't send a separate PM for each round of a duel and just replies to his initial PM instead? I'm just curious since it kinda makes more sense to me that way.
  24. Although suspicious, the Blue Avenger accepts your invitation, Redcoat. He shall attend this event in a peaceful manner. As for alternatives, you may use a black fedora or similar hat for him. Any other head with spectacles will do. The cape can be any dark cape. Since he knows his enemies well, he would bring banana cream pie, knowing Sir ZCerberus's fondness for the yellow fruit. And naturally, the Blue Avenger is a Bluecoat. Merry Holidays!
  25. Wow, those two look great, KDM, especially Keelyvine! I knew that head would work great for her, even though that smile is technically out of place since she never smiles. And I'm not a big fan of that skirt; I think leg decals would be better. Now I really want to make one of her for my own!
