  1. I am wondering the same. I am not exactly new to Mindstorms as I do have V1 and NXT, but I haven't bought any Mindstorms or Technic since then, so if I wanted to get back into it, what would be the best way to go? V4 does seem disappointing like many have said as it seems to be trading off one thing for another for the most part, making it not much of an upgrade, especially if you don't have any other LPF 2.0 stuff that it would be compatible with like me. Any advice would be appreciated here, especially from anyone who has both EV3 and Spike Prime. Since the hardware is sadly not backwards compatible, I wonder if the software at least is, i.e. if you can have the new hub communicate with EV3/NXT? Where does it say all that? That would indeed be very disappointing if you couldn't daisy chain anymore.
  2. Thanks for the tip! There certainly are some interesting bits of information there, but once again, they just open up more questions than they answer. They refer to the blue ruby as the Re-Gou Ruby, even though it's a different color. Maybe that's an effect of the resonator? Also, it says that he built the device to "harness the ruby's legendary power for his own evil empire". Since when does Von Barron have an evil empire? I always thought he just wanted fame and fortune. However, if he had ambitions of global domination, that would explain the Ogel orb. The info on the site also implies that this is the actual former home of Von Baron which is now being used as an attraction rather than just a theme park recreation, so everything we see here is canon. I like the fact that the curse caused Von Barron to go insane from bad puns. It adds some good old fashioned Lego humor to this dark subject matter! Still no clarification about the altar or the Fright Knights connection, but I'll take what we can get.
  3. Hi everyone! I'm back with a couple more DuckTales Brickheadz! I also wanted to let you guys know that I have made instructions available for all the Disney and TMNT ones on Rebrickable. You can get them by clicking the pictures down below. Anyway, first up we have Scrooge's nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Unfortunately, the 3x3 dish doesn't exist in green, so I had to go with sand green. And here is another favorite character of mine, Gyro Gearloose with his little Helper. Also, I have made a slight update to the bill and feet of the other Duck-headz to make them consistent with those on the official Donald Duck Brickhead. Again, click the pictures to get the instructions:
  4. I'm afraid not, but I'm pretty sure that's what it's supposed to be. We'll have to wait until reviews start popping up to find out. I suppose that's a possibility too, but that would be kind of lame and I can't find anywhere in the designer video where they say that. They say that it's a theme park ride and they refer to Adventurers as a Lego theme, but that's just for those who don't know what it is. Actually, I believe the "Sam Sinister Switcheroo" already happened in the Dino Island subtheme. The designers seem to be going by the original North American names, which is odd coming from Denmark. But yeah, he was always Baron von Barron for me. No idea why they tried to retcon that in the final wave. A little late much? But as I said, I like to think that they tried to combine them in this set by claiming that his first name is Samuel. Interesting thought. Maybe Vladek and Basil were allies back in the day (with the similar color schemes and all) and that close relationship between the two lineages remained intact to modern times? Who knows. That's a nice way to look at it! Although I'd rather look for treasure than for tidbits of information that give us a clue as to who the heck everybody is. I thought of doing the same thing - if I'll ever be able to afford this. There were several of these gems in the Orient Expedition theme, so it could be any one of those, although I like to think that it is the one from Secret of the Tomb which revolves around the Baron trying to steel such a gem (along with a yellow one). Good question. In a German Adventurers audio drama, Baron Von Barron and Slyboots/Sinister leave the Temple of Anubis thinking they have stolen the Re-Gou Ruby, but Johnny later figures out that that was a decoy and retrieves the real ruby, so perhaps what the baron is holding in that portrait is the cursed decoy. As for the Amazon subtheme, remember that the Baron was absent in that adventure, so there is no way he could have an artifact from it unless maybe he stole it from Senior Palomar afterwards.
  5. Greetings, adventurers! As you have probably seen, the next Creator Expert set, 10273 Haunted House, was announced this morning and it features many references to Adventurers and other themes as it is designed to be a fairground ride that is modeled after the manor of the notorious villain Samuel Von Barron. There is a large haunted portrait of the baron, a sign saying "Manor Von Barron" and several stolen artifacts from the Egypt and Orient Expedition subthemes. So my question is: is this canon to the Adventurers theme? If so, that opens up a lot of questions. We don't know how accurately the fairground operators recreated Sam's manor, but assuming it is accurate, we can gleam a lot of information from it. First, let's talk about the name. Baron Von Barron's infamous name change to Sam Sinister has been confusing Lego fans to this day, and TLG is muddying the waters even more here by calling him Samuel Von Barron which seems to be a combination of the two. Is this his real full name and was "Sinister" just a nickname? The portrait has a play feature that causes Pharaoh Hotep to appear behind the baron. This suggests that the baron was cursed by the pharaoh, possibly for stealing all of these treasures. Did the baron die from this curse? On the other side of the manor, there is "strange altar" with skull candles, a chalice, and a vassal with some dark red contents. There is also a skeleton with a top hat just like the one that both Sam and Slyboots (a.k.a. the other Sam Sinister) used to wear hanging from chains from the ceiling. This has some surprisingly dark implications. Did Sam used to practice some kind of blood rituals up here? Is the skeleton meant to be him or Slyboots or someone else? Were the rituals meant to free him of the curse? There is also a red snake hiding under the table which according to a German Adventurers audio drama is venomous and killed the first people who raided Pharaoh Hotep's tomb as part of his curse, so it would make sense that Baron von Barron would suffer the same fate. There is a coat of arms over the manor that references Fright Knights, specifically set 6007 Bat Lord. Does this mean that Sam is a descendant of Basil the Bat Lord?! As a fan of both Adventurers and Fright Knights, I am absolutely fine with accepting that as canon! There is also one of Ogel's orb bombs from Alpha Team in the attic along with a rusting Junkbot. Does the baron have some kind of connection to Ogel? There might be even more interesting references that I missed, but this gives us a lot to think about. So what do you think? Do all these things mean what I think they mean? Or am I just overthinking some fun easter eggs in a silly haunted house set? It's probably the latter, but either way, discuss!
  6. Thanks for the kind comments everyone! There is only one more day to vote, so get your votes in! Of course, I understand if you want to vote for one of the other entries - they're all very good! Thanks! While it may not be a conventional building, I wouldn't say that it is unrealistic as it was inspired by real-life buildings such as the Hard Rock Cafe or the Piano House in China. The idea was to make it fun and playful while also making it look like something an architect might actually design.

Yes, yes you should. All your complaints are very nitpicky and you're getting way too worked up about them. The clones are no worse shots than the stormtroopers. Bad shots are kind of par for the course in Star Wars. If that's such a big issue for you, you really should just stop watching Star Wars and relax a little. And if you really can't recognize one of the show's main characters after 7 season, I have to wonder if you really watched it at all.

    Star Wars

I'd have to disagree on that. It's pretty unwatchable, even if you don't see it as a movie. The animation, dialogue, and story are all pretty awful and the Twilight still remains the ugliest ship in Star Wars history. The only thing the movie is good for is to showcase just how much Ahsoka has grown as a character. When you compare the chipper, nickname-spouting young padawan from the movie to the grieving, badass outcast from the finale, it's like night and day! Speaking of which, I just watched the final episode and it was quite good. If more of the show was this good, I could understand why people hold it in such high regard. But hey, I guess it's better if a majority of the fandom unreasonably loves something than unreasonably hates something for once. May the Fourth be with you everyone!

I for one have been enjoying the new season, especially the Mandalore arc. It's very emotional with lots of great action. Not sure why anyone would dislike it just because we know what happens to Ahsoka, Rex, and Maul a few years later, unless they're just so jaded that they hate everything. It's still interesting to see what these characters were up to during Order 66. The developing friendship between Ahsoka and Anakin and Rex and how that friendship is ultimately tested by the rise of the Empire is arguably what this whole series has been leading up to. I was even fine with Martez sisters arc at first, but I do agree that the second episode in that arc was pretty pointless and should have been cut. I look forward to seeing how it all wraps up next week. Agreed. I don't understand this consensus of the show being this amazing piece of entertainment that deserves to be mentioned alongside other animated classics such as BTAS or ATLA at all. Sure, it could be pretty good sometimes, but when it's bad, it's really bad. Like you said, this season is a perfect representation of the quality of the entire series: there are some good arcs, some bad arcs, and some great ones. If anyone thinks this season doesn't live up to the rest of the show, they're remembering it wrong. As for Ahsoka showing up in the Mandalorian, that's cool I guess, although I really wish they wouldn't have spoiled that. It would have been so much better to see her show up out of nowhere like the Darksaber. However, people have been wanting to see a live-action Ahsoka for a while, and a cameo in a Disney+ show is a perfect way to do it. I hope it's not much more than a cameo though. One of the great things about the Mando is that they don't focus on force users and deal with completely new characters.
  10. Not really necessary, but it would just feel a bit forced and seem like more of the same if they just went back for the same kind of adventures the next summer. A bigger time jump would give us a new dynamic between the characters, a new adventures, and maybe even new setting(s). Besides, growing up was a big theme in the show, so it would be fascinating to see what the characters actually became. Another idea would be a Gravity Falls holiday special where the kids come to visit their uncles for Christmas that same year. That way they'd be the same age, but we would still get to see something new by seeing the town during winter. The plot could revolve around the kids trying to prove if Santa is real or not (Mabel thinks he is, Dipper doesn't) and they end up fighting Krampus or something. That would give us something we haven't seen before without stretching out the story too much and give Mabel a great opportunity to wear more tacky sweaters.
  11. Well, just like any fan of the show, after only 2 season I am left wanting more too, but I do think it wrapped up nicely, so there's no need to revisit it really I think. Maybe a sequel series where the kids are grown up could work though. A crossover movie with Rick and Morty would be awesome, but probably wouldn't be on Disney+! That's already returning, with a celebrity voice cast including Mark Hamill as Skeletor no less! https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/masters-of-the-universe-revelation-everything-we-know-so-far-02-2020/
  12. Hi everyone! My entry for the Music To Our Ears contest on Lego Ideas has made it to the Top 9 entries, so I figured I'd share it here. It's currently in the crowd vote phase, so I'd appreciate it if you would head over there and give it a vote. But without further ado, here is the MOC: One of the best things about music is that there are so many different styles of it. What better way to discover them all than at a music store! Celebrate the wide variety of music genres and musical instruments and relive the heyday of music stores with this modular building! This corner building is comprised of a music store and a record shop on the ground floor and several apartments on the upper floors. Each apartment is themed after a popular music genre to suit the style of its inhabitant. The architect of the building designed it to look like a group of giant instruments to represent the four different types of instruments: An electric guitar (stringed), a clarinet (wind), a drum set (percussion), and a turntable (electronic). The floors can be separated to play inside. This 2589-piece set is not only a great addition to anyone's modular buildings display, but also a fun playset that can serve as a home for your CMF musicians. Comes with 2 store owners and a new Classical Musician! Let's take a closer look! The sidewalk is patterned like a piano keyboard, and between the music and record stores, there a staircase going up to the apartments with tuplet-shaped handrails leading up to the door. The music store has all kinds of different instruments. At the cash register, the store owner is having a discussion with the Classical Musician about which music is better: Classic or Metal. Albums of all kinds line the walls of the record store. The Disco Guy likes to come here often to disco-ver new tunes to dance to. The first apartments are dedicated to the pop star, disco guy, cowgirl, and saxophone player, representing pop, R&B and soul, country, and blues/jazz respectively. Next to the stairs to the top floor, there is a small corner with a table for the saxophone player for when he's not on the balcony. The last floor features rooms for the DJ, Rockstar, and Classical Musician, as well as a terrace with graffiti for the rapper to hang out on, representing techno, rock, classical music, and hip hop. There is a stark contrast between the styles of the three rooms. There is also a small closet with a broom and bucket in the hallway. The turntable-shaped roof can be accessed via a ladder going up the clarinet tower. I hope you like it. If you do, again, please give it your vote here. Since it has made it to the Top 9, it will be considered as a potential future set during the next Ideas review! Thanks, and keep on rockin'!
  13. Thank you! I knew I couldn't be the first person to experience this problem, but didn't see that topic. BlueBillCanada's solution worked. Mods, feel free to remove or merge this topic.
  14. Hi everyone. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my PC and now have the fun task of reinstalling all of my programs, which includes LDD. So, I downloaded the version that is up on Lego's website (ver. 4.3.12) and installed it, thinking that it is the latest and greatest. However, after installing it and playing with it, I realized that it doesn't include a lot of the newer parts that the version I had installed previously had (which turns out to be ver. 4.3.11) and is organized very badly (Throwing all minifig parts, accessories, and utensils into one category? What were they thinking?!). So I dug out the installer for the previous version to install that one instead, but before it starts the installation process, it checks for Adobe Flash Player and claims it can't find it, even though I have the latest version installed. It asks to install Flash player and when I click yes, it only gets about a third of the way through before running into an error, forcing me to quit the installer. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. Literally anything that isn't Batman!! Seriously, I love Batman and I never thought I'd get tired of sets with him, but if TLG is going to just keep rehashing the same vehicles and characters over and over again like they've been doing, I'd rather they'd just stop and give some other heroes some love. Overall, I'd like to see more location-based sets to flesh out our DC universe. Hall of Justice, Daily Planet, Fortress of Solitude, Apokolips, Star Labs, or Titans Tower come to mind. Or if they have to keep making Batman sets to keep sales up, why not give us some Gotham locations? GCPD, Iceberg Lounge, ACE Chemicals, or anything else that isn't Arkham or Wayne Manor('s basement). Or they could finally make a Batman Beyond set! They teased us with the suit in TLBM and never released it, even after a slew of sets and TWO CMF series! Anything based on the CW shows that isn't exclusive to SDCC would be nice too.
  16. @PdaitabirdThanks for taking my feedback into consideration. I do like the story much better now. However, now it feels a bit too open ended. I understand now what you were going for with the original version of the story and I think you could still keep that concept and finish the story by making a few more changes. I'd suggest changing it so that Johnny almost goes down that tragic path. For example, he could see the Baron approaching Pippin from the back with his hook, mistake it for an attack, and get ready to pull the trigger, but realizes at the last second that he is actually greeting her and is their friend now. Johnny would realize what a grave mistake he could have made and learn his lesson about people being able to change. That way you could still have the story be about how someone could make a tragic mistake, but in this case luckily didn't, thereby keeping Johnny's character intact. Just a thought. And thanks for adding the wide shot. The MOC does look much better now that we can see all of it! And I'm impressed that you put so much thought into what is essentially just a filler in your layout.
  17. Thank you for sharing your take on the later life of the Adventurers. Unfortunately, I can't say I enjoyed it. Both the MOC and the story leave a lot to be desired. The scenes look very simple with not many interesting building techniques. Then again, it's hard to judge them since we only see close ups of the MOC. A wide shot showing the entire scene would be helpful. Regarding the story, as a big Adventurers fan it is almost painful to see one of my favorite Lego heroes portrayed as a bad father, animal abuser, and murderer. For Johnny to suddenly decide to shoot a seemingly reformed villain for no good reason other than a hunch that he might be up to no good is completely out of character. This could be forgivable if Johnny had a reason for crossing this line, like if he actually knew what the baron was planning (IF he is even planning anything) or if he found out that the assassination attempt that forced him into hiding was secretly ordered by the baron while he was in prison. Saying that Jack was chasing the cat with a sword because he takes after his father implies that Johnny also liked to bother animals which seems out of character as well. Perhaps this could be changed to a more innocent, more adventurous act like performing a dangerous stunt such as jumping from a great height. It is sad to see Pippin think of her presumed dead husband as a bad father, although I could see this being an interesting subplot. I assume it is because Johnny was always out adventuring instead of home to raise his child, but that's just me filling in the holes in the story. It would be nice to see this expanded on. Overall, this feels more like an overly edgy beginning to a new chapter in Johnny Thunder's life than a fitting end, but there are enough interesting plot elements here to make it work with some improvements. I hope you understand my criticisms and find them constructive. Keep adventuring!
  18. These all look pretty decent. I actually want most of them, even if just for the parts, especially that temple. Then again, I'm not one of those people who passionately hate the Minions for no good reason and actually enjoy the movies (although I do agree that their quality is declining). The only thing I'm really disappointed with is the Gru set. Gru and his bike look terrible! They look absolutely nothing like in the movie and more like some kid's attempt at making them from existing parts. Like all good cartoon characters, Gru has a very distinct shape, so I really hate that Lego seems to have abandoned molded heads outside of Trolls and alien or animal-based Disney characters. They could've at least given him a real scarf instead of just a print. Oh well, at least the minions are good. I like how you can switch out the heads, eyes, and hair to make your own minions.
  19. Probably because those themes have more in common with each other than with MF and HS since they feature people in costumes rather than actual supernatural antagonists. Perhaps we should create a Studios vs. SD thread? OK boomer. I’d argue that the transformation features are HS’s biggest strength, not its weakness. They’re creative and fun, and they’re what sets the theme apart from not only things like Stranger Things and Ghostbusters, but also Lego’s other spooky themes. If you think they’re bad just because they feature millennial kids and don’t make you nostalgic like Stranger Things does, you have to remember that unlike that show, these are aimed at todays kids, not you. I agree that the concept of kids busting ghosts with smartphones is silly and dated, but that doesn’t diminish the good set design. I think most of the sets look better than a lot of the stuff in City and other themes.
  20. If you have been on social media lately, you've probably seen people doing the Dolly Parton Challenge. Here is my Lego parody of it:

    Zebra

Zebras are several species of African equids (horse family) united by their distinctive black-and-white striped coats. Their stripes come in different patterns, unique to each individual. They are generally social animals that live in small harems to large herds. Unlike their closest relatives, horses and donkeys, zebras have never been truly domesticated... Seriously, what the heck are you talking about?
  23. Hello there! Today I would like to share with you a MOC that is nearly 2 years old. I just never got around to taking and posting good pictures of it until now. It's a constraction figure scale rendition of the scene in Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi chases General Grievous through the mines of Utapau which won second place in the constraction category at Star Wars Days 2018 and is part of what earned me the Miss Congeniality Award at Bricks LA 2019. Grievous' Wheelbike really rolls, has a working headlight and rotating cannon, and can transform into its walker mode. Boga is fully posable as well.
  24. Thanks everyone! Fun fact: The ships are actually not my design, they're models from the advent calendars that I just stuck there. The Death Star is all my design though.
