^ I expect so. Why would TLG release CS astronauts now, if there was a CS theme coming, of which the figs would be a big selling point? I dont recall them doing anything like it before, like releasing a buggoid before the GS theme or something like that. We might as well be expecting TLG to follow up on their "foreshadowing" in the CMF S1 Spaceman or the SP3 statue. Of course, I wouldnt mind being wrong...

Well I, for one, like it. The dark aesthetic gives it character, and it has a nice amount of greebling, so it doesn't look dull. Though that vent or whatever it is probably obscures the driver's view. Apart from that, a well thought-out MOC. And that's just what Emmet would look like while trying to handle such a machine!

Finalising the [Brick]Haven Guard - Orange or Dark Orange?
Ardelon replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
About time I added my voice, too. I dont have much of a problem with either name or color, but I give a slight edge to Haven Guard (less of a mouthfull) and dark orange (more sombre, less cartoonish). Probably with red facings (thanks, Tedbeard!). And thanks, Yooha, for those comparison images. -
Would you like the Vikings theme to return?
Ardelon replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Agreed with everything. But Im afraid TLG will keep on using the horned helmets to tap into the pop-culture recognizability of Vikings, like they did up to now. Funny, I would think they would like to present a more accurate picture of their heritage... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
True, he's not as bad as some other CMFs. But what makes it disappointing for me is that it's just the same old jester, with a new print which doesn't match any faction, and, having failed that, isn't at least accurate to real-life jesters, and so is rather unexciting. I wonder what's the point of including him, since the CMFs are meant to include figs that wouldn't be made otherwise, and jesters have been made before. I guess his bio will reveal the sales pitch and thus the reason for his inclusion. Actually, I was hoping for a Harlequin-style fig.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So was it the same black & purple jester CM4S posted? (Since I cant see your pic either.) Would be disappointed if it was really that figure, but a good accessory could still save it.- 1,109 replies

Very nice, it looks pretty substantial and sturdy, and Im impressed how you managed to avoid the plain gray wall syndrome...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Probably, but the elven sword and the PoP dagger show us that "normal" colors arent always an option. Yes, this is a CMF, so any new molds should be available in regular themes in the future, but the army building potential of the Hun would still suffer.- 1,109 replies

The thing is, didnt TLG know far enough in advance about the 3rd film release being pushed back for them to have released wave 3 of LotR in between (i.e. this summer)? Are their schedules so tight, or their contracts with retailers so inflexible?

Im really hoping they dont do something that would mess up the army-building potential of the Hun, like give him a gold helmet or weapon or something like that.- 1,109 replies

He also sends Gandalf into Sarumans trap in the first place!

Dream? Id say Nightmare! But its great how you managed to show the gaunt face and prominent cheekbones, not to mention the wild hair. This must have been a lot of work!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Dino Tracker's torso could also be used for a Toxikita henchwoman from the current UA line, as it has the green vials her other two henchmen share (although they have round bottles).- 1,109 replies

Very faithful to the source material, and it's great how poseable it is. I especially like the construction of the jaws. I was also scared the first time I saw it as a kid, but nowadays I can't help thinking the "fridge Zuul" scene especially is just funny and corny. Your Zuul manages to look scarier than the original!

It contradicts the books, though I assume you were talking about the films. It doesn't contradict anything in those, since Radagast wasn't in LotR; but then, neither does Thorin surviving or Smaug and Sauron being at the BO5A. Nowhere in LotR is it said that Thorin is dead or that Sauron wasn't out and about in the North before returning to Barad Dur. These would all be equally big changes, but none contradicted by movie canon. Of course the Thorin rumor now seems pretty much settled by TORn.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yep, the helmet is new. About the Graeco-Roman figs and aesthetic, I think the general consensus is that it's the opposite, i.e. that a new theme is not coming soon. The CMFs are a way to release figs the designers couldn't make otherwise. Plus, if they wanted to make an antiquity theme, they wouldn't release the minifigs as part of the CMF line, but keep them exclusive to the antiquity theme to ensure better sales. So the more such figs I see, the less hopeful for a theme I actually am. Ah, you're right. That's nice, though I'm not sure whether I wouldn't prefer TLG to make the most out of old molds than waste money on nearly identical new ones.- 1,109 replies

Defining the Haven Guard (or whatever their name turns out to be)
Ardelon replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I voted for Haven Guard, because why not. It should be stressed that "haven" is a perfectly fitting word in English, and it isn't overtly Dutch. The Colonial Guard is a close second. For the color, I voted for green, as black is too dark and dull, while orange is too garish and "cloudcuckoolandish". Green is a nice in-between color, respectable and serious, as befits a military force. -
ReBrick "Name the Ship" Contest - and the WINNER IS...
Ardelon replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Then dont read it if you dont like the discussion, and go attend to the "more important things". Not everyone checks in here that often, and not everyone that has an opinion commented already. Staff will decide if the thread has passed the "idiocy" threshold. -
True, but IMO he looks pretty roguish, and the ship's wheel makes the nautical connection. "Nautical rogue" is pretty much the kid-friendly definition of "pirate". And though he's classier than the scruffy pirates TLG has done so far, he still semms pretty piratey.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Ardelon replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
These look pretty good, but not really stellar. I wonder whether the enthusiasm here isn't at least partially due to the long absence of anormal series... Space miner: A strange concept for a figure. Looks rather retro - for this reason I really hope the helmet at least will be metallic. Otherwise the fig would be pretty bland. I think the drill is clever, though it doesn't look much like a mining tool. Wizard: He's nice, rather stereotypical, but its good to see the cone hat being reused. Shame the beard isn't in a new color. Dino tracker: Well now we know who the 5th female is. I wonder why they didn't give her a tranq gun, it would make more sense than a bow. Just to reuse the bow mold? Battle goddess: Very interesting. Good to see she's Greek-style after all. Interesting sandal printing. I assume the skirt will be cloth and the plume will be interchangeable with the centurion's. Swashbuckler: Very nice, glad to see the hat in a new color (is it reown or dark brown?). Don't really care for the golden rapier, but eh. Gamer: Pretty bland, but the sleeves are good. Is that a USB on his leg?- 1,109 replies

Maybe SandMirror38 is refering to the scene when Gandalf is in the High Fells and some animal startles him when he checks a tomb, and when he turns around, Radagast is standing there? It never occured to me that that animal was Radagast, but it makes sense. I wondered how, after showing Gandalfs long and dangerous climb to the tombs, Radagast just appears behind him. If Radagast came there the same way as Gandalf, they should have seen each other much earlier. But if he can turn himself into an animal (I actually thought it was a bat), it would explain this point. He didnt ruin the book; he didnt have any influence over the book. The book is just fine. You could say he ruined the film, however subjective that may be. And I sometimes wonder how many people saying they wont watch the 3rd film will actually keep their word? (I wondered the same abouth the 2nd film...) That said, Im not a fan of Radagast dying (the worst rumored change IMO) or Thorin living. Or the name change for that matter, which is at least confirmed. Though I am willing to watch Dwarves on boars, and Im on the fence on having Smaug be present at the battle. I do, howver applaud having the Sauron story as a major subplot instead of sticking to Bilbos narrow POV. I guess more controversial rumors mean more hype for the film - everyone will be holding their breath on how far PJ & co. deviated from the books...

Serious question about Lego flowers
Ardelon replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I put them studs up, as it adds volume and texture. Studs down makes them seem too flat and smooth and thus "fake". But mixing them seems like a nice idea for variety. As a kid I mostly put the same color on all threee stems, as I saw the stem piece as being one plant and it made sense to me that one plant would have same color flowers. As I grew older, I stopped caring and went for what looks best to me. -
I would say the Armada had red as its primary color, as two out of the three unique torsos were red. Green was used only by one guy, so I wouldn't exactly call the color taken, or the Armada a "greencoat" faction. Apart from these issues, what about the nature of the smuggled goods? If not treasure, as I suggested above, I wouldn't be opposed to the cracker idea. It's a fun, tongue-in-cheek scenario. Or maybe bananas, so we can throw in some monkeys to wreak havoc (maybe they could be a fourth faction with their own agenda ). I wouldn't like it to be alcohol or exotic animals or weapons or any real-life commodity that is often smuggled. But, eh, vox populi and all that. Maybe yet another poll for this question too?
