LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
QuiggoldsPegLeg replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The lack of pupils for Palpatine is really weird. Sort of similar to the weird coloured eyes for some women characters they’ve done in the past for some reason. Also, why on earth does Vader have the angry face in this one? This is the one set where his contented face is needed. Overall the set looks amazing, but I’m definitely not shelling out $130 for a bit of an upgrade over a more expansive ROTJ Throne Room I already own. Yes they are. They’ve already done a massive Razor Crest & Jabba’s Sail Barge. It apparently has around 1,200 pieces. Although there are a lot of large pieces that probably wouldn’t be used in a set in the modern day. -

I don’t understand why they couldn’t have just given Luke black legs and arms and Leia sand blue legs. Sure it wouldn’t be as good as dual-moulding, but it would certainly be a lot better than the ones in the set, and wouldn’t cost anything extra. -

I mean there’s still a decent chance we get it a year or two from now like we did with Moff Gideon’s cruiser. Since the Mandalorian seems to be the only show Lego cares about making sets on after the show has already released. -

The youngling minifigs look cool. I have no idea why they couldn’t just use the normal Yoda head, this one looks very creepy. This set makes me realize we really need a new colour for the purple lightsaber blade at some point, because the current one is way too dark. -

It looks like the biggest difference is that this version doesn’t have pupils. -

Here’s hoping that the cancellation of the Throne Room is because they decided to go through with the Sail Barge, and wanted people to have more incentive to buy the bigger set. Sucks for people that want a Boushh figure though. -

I might be wrong since the box is blurry, but it looks like Lego is continuing to stick with the inaccurate silver belt buckle on Luke’s ROTJ figure, instead of being black like it should be. It’s annoying, but not surprising though, since his belt buckle barely appears in the movie, and Lego probably incorrectly assumed it’s colour based on black and white behind the scenes photos. (Plus the Mandalorian also made his buckle silver, which doesn’t help in Lego realizing their mistake) My biggest issue with the set is that you can’t even recreate the scene which the set’s quote is referencing, since it doesn’t include the walkway or stairs. The set looks great, but I prefer the completeness of the previous two versions we’ve got. -

100%. Lego’s squeezing extra money out of people by throwing in a handful of black bricks and slapping an 18+ label on the set. I’d much prefer if they were cheaper and didn’t include the bases. -

Sets are meh, cool that Luke finally has a new Return of the Jedi hair piece after over 20 years. -

They appear as smaller parts of big camera shots on Kashyyyk and Felucia in Revenge of the Sith. They’re really obscure in normal Star Wars fandom, but Lego has made quite a few of them over the years, probably because they’re one of the few Galactic Republic vehicles they can use for smaller sets. -

Those minifigs sound great, but I feel like most people are Falconed out by now (or at least for now). The previous playscale Falcon is still being sold along with the UCS one right now. Unless they’re using some giant pieces in the set, it sounds like an insanely overpriced battle pack at this point. -

I mean you can always cancel the pre-order if she shows up in the Interceptor vs. Fang Fighter set. -

Could people please be more careful in spoilering when discussing leaks from yet to be realeased shows/episodes. You’re making it difficult to keep up with Lego without being spoiled for something that isn’t even out yet. -

Regardless of what happens, it would be a crying shame if we never get figures of Éowyn, Faramir, or the Witch King. -

If/when the remake releases one can only hope we get Lego sets alongside it. The fact that no one has to worry about spoilers would help with product development I’m sure. -

If the theme continues, I’m sure a Bag End set is just around the corner. If they continue doing D2Cs, Minas Tirith might be before it, since it’s never been made into a set, but I’d put money on Bag End being made before a remake of Orthanc or Helm’s Deep. For making D2Cs, my guess at the priority list would be: Barad-Dûr, Minas Tirith, Bag End/Hobbiton, Meduseld/Edoras, Helm’s Deep, Orthanc. Obviously there’s lots of other locations from LOTR and/or the Hobbit that could be made into a set, but I don’t think anything else would be able to warrant a full large D2C. -

I’m autistic as well. Lego & Star Wars do seem like they’re well suited for being special interests, so it makes sense there would be a few of us here. -

Lol, the inconsistencies with Jedi Starfighters before TPM have been real weird in canon. Especially since the whole thing is supposed to be that they didn’t have starfighters before the Naboo conflict. -

Okay, I just looked it up, and it looks like this originated from Jon Favreau misspeaking and backtracked on saying Grogu and Luke were together for 2 years. (Instead saying it’s anywhere between 0 and 2 years) Because like the article says, it makes no sense for the story of the Book of Boba Fett for Grogu to be with Luke for a really long time. https://www.distractify.com/p/how-long-was-grogu-with-luke -

The last time we had 2x VIP points was mid-February, so since Lego usually does it 4 times a year, the next one will likely be at some point within the next 3 months. -

Likely a decent undetermined amount of time has passed since Mando S1, but I have no clue where you’re getting that 2 year number from. I definitely don’t think Grogu was with Luke for a significant amount of time anyways. My guess would be from S1 E1 to S3 we’re nearing a calendar year or so between. -

Just realized Din doesn’t appear to come with a cape, which is weird and disappointing. They could’ve easily used a single hole soft cape under the jetpack. -

Oh, it looks dark pearl grey in the 360 view, but I thought it was pearl grey in the original photo. Maybe I’m just blind though. -

The Darksaber should probably have a dark pearl grey hilt IMO. Which isn’t much of an issue, since I have a bunch extra of those hanging around. Overall, I think the set falls a bit short just since Lego likely only had concept art to go off of. As much as I like the Bo-Katan minifigure, she’ll probably come in another set at some point in the next 2 years, and Din and the Darksaber will definitely come in more sets. If I had to choose I’d probably pick up the Hoth AT-ST at the same price point over this one.
