[OFFICIAL] 40710 LEGOLAND Pirate Splash Battle

Nice work, Evan!

I've heard them referred too, rather unimaginatively, as 'fire-bottles' prior to the Russo-Finnish War.

Great conclusion! Not sure if the methods utilized by agents of the Crown are actually solving the problem or just fanning the flames......Great story and I second Keymonus, that arson raid is very well built! As to the slogan you co-opted, now I can associate that phrase with a well written story What were those torsos for the Force Publique from?

Saturn V LUT Launch Umbilical Tower from lightlego welightbrick.com
Jeff of Clubs replied to Mischa0101's topic in Community
Welightbricks/Vonado was using rejected Ideas submissions without the creator's or TLG's permission. I'd imagine they recieved a cease and desist or something similar. Judging from old reviews, you're likely missing a few hundred pieces too. None of this is your fault, I'd recommend tracking down whoever's Ideas submission it likely was and seeing if the posted instructions. They should be free to post them around now (3years later). Maybe, maybe https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a88109ec-9970-4fe1-98b4-9bd535856ab4/updates -

[OL-KPA reaction] Adieu, mon général
Jeff of Clubs replied to Keymonus's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I must've missed this. This thing is great! The song aspect is fantastic and informative! It sounds like there is a fine chef up for hire. Farwell General. We shall fly your pants from the standards. @Keymonus, you should link this to the Seawatcj Coordination thread for some closure.- 6 replies

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Jeff of Clubs replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Trouble with HP theme is the minifig parts. They could probably add another kit to that theme that is cheaper and includes some suits of armor. That could go a ways towards shoring up a lack of minifig accessories. Train kits can be a bit sticky. The Orient Express has an incredibly low review (2.5). Some of that was just mis spelling on the stickers but a substantial part comes from the train builder community. It is a pretty display piece but there was no effort put towards making it function which seems to be a cardinal sin for any train kit. It's my opinion that 'battle pack' minifig kits and a handful of midrange kits a year or two at a time would be sufficient without over commiting. I personally don't much care for licensed kits. They raise the price accross the range to cover licensing fees, dampen creative options and discourage TLG from pursuing their own home brewed themes. There are a number of 3rd party companies making lusty profits by filling the demand that TLG cant/wont. There is still nothing that 1920s biplanes, steamers and halftracks would conflict with. Excited to see what this 'City Jungle' is all about. Regardless of theme, jungley bits are always welcome in the Pirate and Adventurers communities. I have bought several of the Botanical kits for this very reason. A home brewed Steampunk range would have a built in customer base in addition to scratching the backs of historicals, adventurers and pirates fans.- 233 replies

Great little story that ties elements of current events together while broadening our understanding of Gran Oleon's internal workings. I like this style of vignettes as a supplement to your writing. I will probably emulate it later when I can build again. DuQuesne has a particular hatred for traitors and will likely find a project for the Legion Penal that is as 'fiery' as his own disposition. Nice work!

Depends on the theme. The unlicensed Pirates and Castle themes have lasted for decades in spite of TLG's spotty support...hint...take it already, TLG- 233 replies

Era III and a call for New Leadership!
Jeff of Clubs replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Members of the Court could benefit from being subforum moderators, answerable to the general EB moderators. It is worth noting that I am willing to assist with a lot of these things and haven't formally put my foot forward though, as I am not sure what my life will look like two months from now. When I know, I will let you all know. Thanks, ♧ -

We also need picture resources to be propperly backed up. @evancelt has offered to do this but this cannot fall to one person alone. Maps, npc photos of kings, flags, pendants and family crests need to be accessible on more than one photo hosting sight and they also need to be vouchsafed against rampant tech company flipantry (see flickr) by way of USB flash drives. Stored these with your legos, so we always have backups. In summary, BoBS didn't become a Byzantine jumble overnight, it happened because proper fail-safes against natural entropy were not implemented. @Yperio_Bricks, agreed. A top down overhaul of the subforum is pretty much a necessity at this juncture. -

As to digital builds, I don't use them as it defeats the point of playing with Legos, in my opinion. That said, the economics of them are plain to see. I'd hate to put a 'paywall' between interested parties and the game itself. There is of course, potential for abuse but these can and should be handled on a per case basis. Never having used Studio, I don't believe that they are necessarily 'easier'. I'm sure they come with their own challenges. I can only see digital builds becoming more common in the future. NPC factions tend to add a lot of building options for players and fleshes out the world. @Tezclatipoca, could you clarify a bit here? Was it that there was too much EGS interaction? Too much lore that caused upsets in builds? NPC factions have been used a lot to drive various narratives and not everyone wants to read a background page but as in any RPG, awareness of the world in which one is playing seems to be a prerequisite to participating in said world. To me, as a newer player, they crux of the issue with BoBS was the patch-work organization of lore and rules. This was a natural consequence of years of various hands participating without any single person responsible for coalating information. A more rigidly maintained Master Index would be quite useful. Many things should be linked there but simply aren't. Any and all Cannon and rules must be accessible from a single page and a clear 1, 2, 3 process for starting would help keep new people engaged. These responsibilities cannot fall to individual players for a litany of reasons; absences, mistaken understandings etc. In short we all need to be on the same page at all times. A single, accessible, and clearly written and prioretised page. The Master Index. The index should be posted and overseen by a forum moderator so that regular updates may be performed. Quarterly, ideally. Players who wish to be faction leaders need to understand that they have obligations to help their faction's, new and old. If they need a break, then they need to delegate these tasks to another temporarily and to frenquently be checking their PMs regardless. ie, get newbies into the faction chats asap, give them tasks if they ask for them that help them advance and learn the rules. Tutorial missions and the like. For all I can tell, Oleon alone has lost 3 new players this year alone. It could be anything that caused this but it could also easily be percieved apathy from the faction. Long running events, such as the Lotus War, have a way of draining energy from leadership persons as their faction wants to do one thing but the ongoing narrative requires more of their time for another thing. Events should NEVER exceed 3-6 months, regardless of how that is brought about. Keep it fresh. As to pvp type scenarios, well nothing risked nothing gained. A mechanic that states something like, "yes your actions can damage others work but it is 'bad karma' and will cost you as much or more" would be a good rule mechanic. -
[OL-FB] Garvian League Guildhouse
Jeff of Clubs replied to Keymonus's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another fine installment, Key. It does seem a tad crowded in there but this wasn't uncommon in crowded old cities. Large fires tended to change/necessitate civil planning because of such cramped warrens.- 4 replies

Post your Pirate Crew: Pirate Figbarfs
Jeff of Clubs replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Pirates
I thought I'd slap some Bluecoats up here as we can never have enough of those! Some of you will recognize these already but this is for those of you who haven't been playing BoBS. These were some of the units I raised for the Role Building Game, Bretheren of the Brick Seas (BoBS), hosted here on Eurobricks. Era 3 is rumored to begin this coming summer. Mayhaps you too will join us! Line Infantry Advance Naval Shore Party Penal Legion Bluecoat Militia 6 Pound Field Gun As you can see, BoBS' Bluecoat faction Gran Oleon takes all sorts of coats. More info and figbarfs on the best faction's glorious soldiers may be found here! If Redcoats are more your thing, I don't know why they would be, BoBS' redcoats can be found here. Era 3 of BoBS is meant to focus more on storytelling and roleplaying than previous iterations, so do consider joining us. Specifically, join us at Gran Oleon! Happy holidays and Vive le Roi! Thanks, ♧ -
Very clever! Certainly looks the part!
