  1. This may seem weirdly specific, but the next time we get an ARC-170, I'd love to see Oddball. His helmet is one of only three designs in ROTS, and so far we've gotten 2 of them. Oddball and Jag could be in the same ship however, as if you look closely, Jag is sitting behind Oddball in the Coruscant scene. Also, the only open faced clone pilot we see in TCW has the same design on his helmet as Oddball. Anyway, weird rant over, I just really like the open faced clone pilots for some reason.
  2. Of course I'll have to wait for better quality pics, but I like the look of things, even the Bluurg! It'll be interesting to see if the landing gear retracts or just removes to put it in "flight mode".
  3. As someone who is working on instructions right now, I know the ridiculous amount of effort that goes into just the basic steps, but the extra work to match the graphic design of official instructions? That's impressive
  4. The box art just takes it to the next level! Is there a template you used or did you make that from scratch?
  5. If you can, I'd recommend trying a higher color temperature for your lighting and a smaller depth of field to focus more on the action. I've found that indirect sunlight usually works better than most yellowish incandescent bulbs if you don't have a fancy lighting setup, but the depth of field stuff might require a more intense camera lens than a smartphone
  6. Printed kamas are still disappointing, but at least the macrobinoculars are confirmed. The TSS Rex is weird to me though, you'd think if they are already making a cloth pauldron, a cloth kama would be much easier to include as the "cape box" is the same either way.
  7. Wow, they all look great! The citadel tower has got to be my favorite, but the temple library GWP makes a surprising amount of sense now that I see it. I think one of the computer terminals would be a nice inclusion, but it would probably make it a bit oversized
  8. It's not perfect, but I think it'll work I used mostly @Mandalorianknight's suggestion and made the locks extend a little further into the walker so now they push on the 10 x 3 wedges on the back armor plate and brace themselves on the walker's central technic liftarms. The slop looks to be about 2 plates measured from the top of the turret (unless I got my geometry wrong), and it is about the same between the 2. @TeddytheSpoon's suggestion of having an extendable "kickstand" would have less slop, but it would still never be zero. I'd still count this as a connection though, anything coming from the dropship and touching the tank would. Having it extendable would also add another step in a process I'm trying to make as smooth and simple as possible, taking 1-2 seconds to pick up or drop off (yes, I timed it). Otherwise progress is going smoothly, I was able to get rid of the spring used to automatically return the trigger to the forward position by using the weight of the "magnetic" clamps, the cockpit is all figured out, and I can finally start filling out the rear fuselage!
  9. Made some more progress, and I am happy with the redesigned mechanism, but the front heavy AT-TE is leaning forward a bit more than I would like it to when it is picked up. I'll keep trying new ways to keep it level while also reducing any unnecessary connections between the vehicles, but again, any suggestions are welcome!
  10. I might be in the minority of users on this forum, but I prefer the episodes design of the gunship to the CW design. To me it feels like the CW ship was designed to cut down on animation costs, removing the bubble turrets and sealing off the troop compartment so the only visible characters are the pilots, who barely move anyway. That being said, I would buy this in a heartbeat!
  11. Completely redesigned my Republic Dropship MOC to copy the UCS Gunship style at a smaller scale while also improving the functionality of the pick up / drop off function and allowing it to be compatible with the new AT-TE as well as the 2013 one. While I am not allergic to studs, I feel like it would be better with less, but those wedge plates are incredibly important to the structure while still allowing the full gun barrel to face forward on the AT-TE (even on the longer 2022 version). Dropping off or picking up the AT-TE is an incredibly simple process, you just push the button to open the jaws, then release once the dropship is in place. Instructions are available here Full in depth video is here --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally got the 2022 AT-TE, and I thought this was a good time to update my Republic Dropship MOC! The mechanism only needed 6 more parts to make it compatible with both tanks, and it works well as you can see in the video. While it is great that it can do 4 drop offs and 3 pick ups in 45 seconds, it could be better. On the 2013 version it sometimes catches on the body panels and moves them out of place, and neither tank can hold a gunner while the tank is picked up. The mechanism, which works by grabbing the structural liftarms near the center legs uses an old and expensive spring that I just happened to have in my collection, but I want other people to be able to build the model without too much trouble as well. Also, lets face it, its not the prettiest Lego model with all its exposed studs. I have an idea about how to improve the mechanism, but feel free to leave any suggestion in the replies! And here is the new style of body I'm going to use. Its mostly modeled after the UCS gunship, just at a much smaller scale. I might try to build a regular gunship in the same style in the future, but I would need to make a couple Bricklink orders, which I usually don't do for my MOCs
  12. Looks like the two parts you're missing are Bar Holder With Handle 23443 and Technic, Pin Connector Round 2L with Slot (Pin Joiner Round) 62462 Cant say whether BrickOwl is better, I've only ever used Bricklink
  13. The naming conventions with Bricklink are weird, so I'll try to give you a rundown of the basics. Each part usually has a basic "name", a size, and additional descriptors. The flat smooth parts are tiles, the flat parts with studs are plates, the parts with studs on the sides are brackets, the droid arms are robot arms, the 3l rod is a bar, the curved parts are curves, the cheese wedge parts are slopes, etc. Next the size is usually the smaller number first, except in slopes and curves where the first number is in the direction of the slope / curve. If it is round (not an inverted dish) it usually has "round" at the end. If it has some weird add on to it, like a ball joint, "modified" is added to the name, and a short description. If you ever can't find a part through this, find a set with the same part (color does not matter to the name) and look through the set inventory until you find the part you are looking for. Just as an example, the light grey ball joint part is Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Small Tow Ball Socket on End or 14418 Good luck and happy searching!
  14. I think the 501st BP is meant to show off the new helmet mould. If they are based off the bf2 classes they would each have different accessories clipped in, like the visor for the heavy and a rangefinder for the officer. I can only hope the sniper has the macrobinoculars like we see in the game, it could mean Bly and the 327th are on the way.

  16. I'm hoping the sniper has his macrobinoculars with the new helmet! (I don't speak German, so they may have mentioned it, I just heard Battlefront in there somewhere)
  17. If Lego heard the calls for a p2 Cody for the UCS gunship, there is also a good chance they also heard the calls for a new p1 pilot. My guess for the microfighter is a V-19 Torrent with the current prints for a p1 pilot, but I think a new helmet mould is unlikely.
  18. looks like the AT-TE is up on Amazon, just with a 1-2 month ship time. Unless you have a ton of gift cards, you should probably just wait till its in stores

  20. I think part 62360 with a unique print would work well enough for Lego designers here, its not exactly in scale, but it is close. The MOC itself is great. I try to do the same thing with my builds, and it is difficult, especially at a small scale like this one. One criticism I do have is that if this were an actual set, it would probably have stud shooters on it lol.
  21. Ambush on Ferrix in stock at my local Target. No other August sets, this one just looked like shelf filler to replace sold out stuff
  22. Wow, that looks great! My only complaint is that you only posted one pic :)
  23. Those propeller guard parts on the new avatar helicopter are making me really think about a new hailfire tank without clear dishes. That AT-TE needs something to fight!
  24. Welp, I'm honestly disappointed. Don't think I'll ever pick up any of these, even though I am a fan of the movie.
  25. From what I could tell, the pylons are attached by 2 plates of structure surrounded by greebling, which isn't going to be enough. its a little bit of a myth that something needs technic in order to be strong, it just makes things easier in many cases. I would have the top plate and bottom plate separated by at least 2 plates and the exposed edges filled in with more greebles so that it forms a square tubing sort of shape, which should be enough to handle the weight
