I really hope 75335 and 75336 are the gunship and atte, I think a gunship would work really well with the whole downscaling trend

I trust Sariel too, but he mostly covers Technic stuff. He did review the "ucs" r2d2 through LAN recently and it looked like he struggled to say anything positive lmao

I actually like some of MandR's vids, especially his comparisons, but looking through his vids, it looks like over half are just reactions to rumors. He has around 15 vids on the UCS gunship, most of which are just clickbaity nonsense. also completely agree with your statement about the other LAN members, it feels like they are trying to sell lego sets more than lego is

Are you sure? the black shading looks flush with the corners of the slope, but stickers are always much smaller than the part they're stuck to

It probably costs lego cents to make a trooper, its the tooling that drives up the cost, so I don't think they have stockpiles of commanders lying around, I think they want to get a little bit more use out of the printing setup

I'm probably gonna skip these for now, if we get aotc sets in the summer I'll pick up one or two. If it was 3 shines, I'd feel different though

Is that console piece a new print in the clone trooper bp? it looks pretty cool I was one of the people hoping for an army builder, but as a ucs gunship owner, this just feels a little disappointing The inclusion of 5 non stud shooter blasters is a huge plus though

Sounds like this is gonna be heavy! If you have any large unsupported overhangs, don't shell out a ton on technic bricks, instead use spaced stacks of plates to take advantage of the "I beam" concept to build strength. If you want to go super in depth on the physics of this, just look up moment of inertia and parallel axis theorem. Long story short, you want as much material as far apart (top to bottom) as possible, but still connected. You can see this in the front mandibles of the UCS Falcon, as most of the strength comes from the stack of detail plates on top and below to keep from sagging.

I usually design my mocs around some unique mechanism that makes it fun to play around with, so I guess its the opposite for me. Shameless plug for my YT channel, but I think I have one of, if not the best republic dropship mechanism out there. Ultimately it just comes down to cost. I have a hefty parts collection, and I never bricklink parts, so if I can build a half decent moc for free, why would I buy the set?

Personally, I think the new stud shooters look better than the old ones, but yeah they look really bulky on such a small ship
