  1. The Venator's front stand is relatively far forward, which creates an overhang of what, 8-10 inches? not too difficult to deal with. If you want to use the gap in the structure technique, I'd recommend using wedge plates (regular plates will work just as well) on the top and bottom of the stack going from the end of the displaced beam to a ways down the center beams fwd or aft to prevent the center beam to displaced beam connection from bending. I'm going to completely gut the inside of mine, though I am worried abut how little space there is between the top and bottom hulls. I guess we'll see in 2 and a half weeks!
  2. I'll definitely be giving it a try, I've already mocked up a rack and pinion side hangar door that looks like it'll fit Don't tell me how to live my life
  3. Unfortunately the clean split and the jagged bit are just the Clone Wars style of Venator, the ROTS style which most MOCs are based on is different in a number of places. The red is sandwiched underneath the LBG 6x4 wedge plates at the end, so the opening hangar is at best unlikely. I feel like it would be on the box if it did open up.
  4. They kinda went back on that statement pretty quick, but DO NOT buy the Venator if you just want Rex. There is a very good chance he will come in a cheaper set (without arm printing) sometime in 2024, maybe the missing 75377? Yularen will probably stay exclusive though
  5. The dorsal ridge is angled port and starboard while the ROTS is flat, the red stripe is stepped on the TCW, ROTS its straight, panel lines are much deeper and wider.... but other than that its essentially the same. The bridge is a pretty simple color swap job, I don't really care too much about that. Its a whole lot easier to find specific pieces in LBG than dark red. Let me be clear, while I would prefer ROTS I am not disappointed, I am still going to be camping out for this day 1 with a ridiculous grin on my face
  6. Huh. I guess I didn't expect it to be the Clone Wars style, but I still like it. I was planning on only modding the interior, but the exterior may need some updates to match my preference for the ROTS style Also can anyone tell what the dimensions say? Maybe its just me but it doesn't look like it says "40 in", second digit looks more like a 3....
  7. I mean they pretty much went 3 for 3 on what I was hoping for, so after this one I'm probably done
  8. They're probably making up for the near decade drought of B2s, B1s are pretty easy to come by. Have there been any new Pearl Dark Grey adjacent new plastic types since 2015? A less brittle plastic could make a difference, but even the dark brown (was dark brown as bad as reddish brown?) Commando droid legs feel weaker than regular droid legs
  9. I think the lack of a 327th is more due to the weird print "no-go" area around the base of the fin which would make a 327th helmet either have a very thin vertical stripe or a very wide stripe with larger white areas in it . I guess it could be they index it there so they know the helmet is pointing the right way but it still doesn't make much sense to me. I am planning on buying this to army build shiny P2s, so its still a win, especially because of the droids!
  10. Lego has been pretty good at keeping D2Cs under wraps lately, I'm guessing week on the 17th for reveals and end of next week for leaks (if any). I would really love to be proven wrong though!
  11. Idk, his TCW appearance does look blonde, but agreed, ROTS is 100% white. Dodonna has too much volume in the back, the 2023 piece looks most accurate for TPM, 2014 is probably best for ROTS, It really depends on what look you're going for
  12. Wow. The color scheme, the crazy angles, just about every curved part Lego ever made.... it's all just amazing
  13. Photo dump incoming! Set up my photo "studio" with a new background, I think I like it better than the white. Also I made a speeder bike and AT-RT that fit on the back ramp.
  14. Huh, that's strange. I just ordered the gunship from Amazon here in the US, it might be a regional thing?
  15. Same question but October for the Venator...
  16. Hi, I've made a couple instructions before, but I have a few questions. I'm assuming this is a Studio model? What kind of compensation will be provided? What kind of schedule are you looking for?
  17. Looks like that LAAT/c needs a friend :) another project in the works?
  18. I'd really love to see a Valkyrie shuttle personally. That opening sequence was extremely striking when I saw it in theaters and I feel like its non military enough for LEGO to make without too many problems. Then again, they did the Samson and the AMP suit dirty, so who knows if it'll be any good
  19. Finished out the Clone Wars version! Took a lot longer than expected as a Windows update turned my computer into a very hot paperweight for a few days. Can't wait to build these IRL!
  20. Thank you! I used the 7163 gunship to get the scale around right and the 3 stud forward arch is sort of a homage to that. The MTT is in the works, but I'm not 100% happy with how it looks right now and its not as strong as I would like it to be. Stay tuned!
  21. Wait, you're making a 2 floor Scimitar with seating for passengers? Can't wait to see it (and how big it is)! Building in bricks first is definitely the best way to do it, prioritizing structure early in the design helps a lot
  22. After numerous requests from people who built my Dropship MOC, I finally designed a gunship in the same style! If I have time tomorrow after work I'll finish out the CW version and order the parts, but I wanted to hear any suggestions for improvement first, especially about the laser turrets. This model is primarily built to be fun to swoosh around, with a extendable handle and generally solid construction throughout. The stud shooter missile racks deploy with a lever in the wing roots, the ramp in the back opens, and the top and bottom wing turrets spin together! Let me know what you think!
  23. Since there is a clone super battle pack coming out in January it could fit, but I'd say there's a good chance. Lego knows the Clone Trooper Command Station was constantly out of stock and they'll probably capitalize on it like they did with the 501st pack which was also in high demand.
  24. Any chance the whole mini ARC 170 started as the polybag build and through a long game of telephone ended up as the battle pack build? All I'm saying is, both of the last Hailfire droids have been well under 200 pcs...
  25. What I like about the gunship: The red color scheme looks better than I thought The minifigs look (for the most part) pretty cool Almost no stickers Missile tubes are 'buried' in the wings, like they should What I dislike about the gunship: Fuselage flares out to 6 studs at the cockpit and thins to 4 after when it should slightly taper the other way One piece doors The engine grille at the rear Missile launcher taper is too sudden (forgivable, given available parts) Fuselage angle becomes too steep after the cockpit Honestly I don't know why I'm complaining, I'm already halfway through designing a MOC Gunship...
