Designing a set for days in LDD, and then discovering it is unstable due to a silly annoyance like gravity or weight distribution.
-
Than before what? When I was a kid, everyone had the basic smiley. If you wanted a purist alternative, you slapped a 1x1 round brick on a neck stud and called it a robot. Then Pirates came along and changed the game. So i'd say that going to having a third of the faces be grumpy from having, say, none of them... Then yes, they're more grumpy. And my Agents bad guys sure are glad (er, grumpy. You know what I mean).

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

Guess I was wrong about the yeti being a Chima gorilla. Honestly, I'm glad. -
LDD 4.3.6 bugs
obsidianheart replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
In situations like the one you have presented, I find it is easier to remove one of the two pins until the assembly is rotated to where I want it to be, then replace the missing pin. -
Production of Lego "speckle" colours?
obsidianheart replied to LiamM32's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've wondered about this, too. Especially since a lot of times on Bricklink, you can find these colored parts without their "speckles", even if the part was never produced in sets without the speckle colors. -
Gotta ask, do you mean "graphic" in the terms of nudity, or in the terms of violence?

What do you think about flickr's new design?
obsidianheart replied to drdesignz's topic in Community
I can't view as much at once as I could before, and I can't seem to get the option to change the size of the thumbnails to actually activate. It tells me they're resized, but the feed looks the exact same. I find the whole thing chaotic and weird. Are there still the little square notation boxes on pictures? Because I haven't seen any. All my complaints are negated, however, by the fact that I don't, uh, actually have a flickr account. I just used it to view the LEGO pool to see MOCs or upcoming sets. -
LEGO Monster Fighters on Clearance
obsidianheart replied to Blakstone's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Picked it up at a Tulsa Wal-Mart for around fifty bucks last night. Not as impressive as the discount Blakstone got, but I'll take it. -
That is really, really cool. I like how compact it appears, and how it packs a lot of curve into a boxy shape. And DAT HATCH.

I did not see that reflection! I would never have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out, either, so thanks!

I remember you now, Cardinal. You had the topic that said Galaxy Squad was intentionally designed to fail by Lucasfilm moles within LEGO, and then got upset when Rick locked it and a bunch of us pointed out you were being sensationalist. That's why the conspiracy sounded so familiar. You've posted it before. I thought you quit because of the "moral issue" of your "freedom of speech" being impeded by moderators?

Man, you know what theme I'm totally ambivalent to? Lone Ranger. Don't care about the licence, not planning on seeing the movie, not a fan of the history. You know which theme I just spent a couple hundred dollars on? Lone Ranger. My kid's birthday is coming up, and while he doesn't care about the characters, he thinks the sets are neat and there's a train, and he doesn't care why it's there or who is on it, but he loves looking at pictures of it and I bet he'll love zooming it around the track. You guys see the point I'm making here, right?

Minifigures Series 11 Re-use Part Guessing game.
obsidianheart replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Think the Yeti will be a Chima Gorilla. Jazz Musician might have the pompador from the Greaser Mechanic and Daredevil in a new color/ -
If I may, I believe that the LOTR figures are "amazingly detailed" because they represent specific, established characters. I remember before fleshie figs when Star Wars minifigs were yellow and Luke, young Obi-Wan, and teen Anikin all had the same (or close to) face-print. Guess what? People were unhappy that their precious characters were too undefined and underdesigned. Then the Lando fiasco happened, and now licensed characters are all flesh-toned and distinguished. Castle dudes look plain because they can be whoever you want them to be, not Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins. "Artistic" and "creative" endeavors are nice, but rarely have a legion of fans who grew up with the theme and want to invest in it either for themselves, or to show their children why they (the parent) like it. The "Sabotage" conspiracy theory, I'm sorry to say, is one of the most ridiculous things I've read for a while.

That ninja is a robot, if I remember right. Zane, innit?

79111 Constitution Train Chase Discussion
obsidianheart replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You guys are going to laugh at me for this question: I bought this set for my son, but it is in storage at another location until his birthday a month from now. We've also got a Monster Fighters Ghost Train set that I've been using LEGO Digital Designer to mod it to fit the track that comes with this set. I've never owned a LEGO train before, and have never seen a piece of the curved track in person. Does the curved track attach to a baseplate? It doesn't in LDD, but I don't know if that's a connectivity glitch. I've got a bunch of old baseplates, and was thinking of building a simple layout with maybe a couple of playsets and the water tower from this set next to the track, but don't know how to build it if the curved track doesn't actually connect to the baseplate.- 118 replies

Removing Minifig Heads stuck tight
obsidianheart replied to TeufelHund's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I once saw a tutorial where a guy would put a technic pin in the neck socket, then put a lightsaber blade type bar in the technic pin. The one time I tried it (with a 3rd party helmet, though), it didn't work, so your mileage may vary. -
Nearest LEGO store is 2 hours from me, and I can only get out there on the rarest of occasions. I used to work in one of those other places, but was in my dark ages and funneled all my money into a different hobby. Bought all the Exo-Force sets, though. I dunno, mechs, you know?

Didn't realize this was a render at first; Was about to freak out about some where you got some of the parts in those colors!
