Because then he can buy the non-stamped one for his collection and not feel LEGO is screwing him out of a character he'll never have a chance to get otherwise.
-
He wants the non-stamped version available in a regular retail setting, is what I'm reading.

SpoOOOoooOOOOooky! I think that's pretty great! The insulation in the floorboards, is pretty cool, too.

That first reply makes it sound like they've probably gone ahead and accepted your permission.

A joke is all it was meant as. I'm not trying to marginalize anyone's opinion on this subject, and I've made my belief that LEGO faces a no-win situation in this arena clear, but I figured that the thread could use some levity.Apologies if the comparison was offensive.

The rat-enthusiast community will probably now descend upon Eurobricks like a swarm of... small, hairy, pestiferous animals, I dunno, demanding more inclusive representation for vermin in themes.

My understanding is that those companies (Hasbro, mostly?) put up items that were exclusively for sale at the con, but not the raffled off freebies. I might be misinformed, though.

The Lego Movie - Favorite Micromanager?
obsidianheart replied to Tromboon's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I like the one from the castle set with the fold-out wheels and oversized front claw. I think it's because of the fold out wheel, really. Like, it doesn't even need to be there, because they all fly anyway, but that Micromanager just enjoys a good peel-out every now and again or something. Also Nthing the one in Metalbeard's set. It's big and stompy and intimidating next to a regular fig. -
But if you have purchased that LEGO set with your own money, it is yours to waste as you see fit, regardless of sad children who helplessly look on in the world. I have 5 sets unbuilt in boxes in storage, not because I'm waiting for the secondary market price to increase, but because I don't have room right now to display them. If, say, in a few years, I decide I don't care about ever putting them together and displaying them, and toss a few up on eBay, and they happen to sell for hundreds of dollars, does that mean I deprived a child of their seat on the bus?

I've just been rebuilding them in orange and black for my Agents villains.

I took a chance and popped over to my local ghost-town TRU at lunch today, and was told that local management had decided to exclude LEGO sets from the 90% Clearance Blowout. Then I found an unmarked 79110 Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout on the shelf, and was unpleasantly surprised when a price-check revealed it had been jacked up to $99.99! So, yeah, just2good did get lucky!
-
As a former (long-time) employee of that chain, I can honestly say "You guys have clearanced LEGO at your TRUs? Jealous. Neither of the locations where I'm from ever do that."
-
Whoa. Awesome.

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014
obsidianheart replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
None of my area Wal-Marts have any of the sets except Toxita on the shelves, but I was able to site-to-store ship an HQ from the website at the same price before they pulled it. I think there must have been a company-wide error regarding its pricing. -
Holy Christmas in August Batman.
-
Wal-Mart's website had the new Ultra Agents Mobile HQ for $30 less than regular retail, but they've pulled it. Fortunately, I was able to order one before that.

This is a good point! Maybe they couldn't design the curves around her badge and pen? I dunno! The inward bow of her lab blazer suggests (to me, anyway) the curves the lack of negative space leaves out, though.

Christina Hydron's got on 3 layers, and one of them's a sweater. That's probably why she doesn't have the negative space curves.

2015 The LEGO Movie rumors and discussion
obsidianheart replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, I think I wanna build that now! -
I suppose I took your "Don't beat yourself up about it" as condescending. Let us be clear: Your satire did not go over my head. I will say no more on the subject. I am not attacking any person. The issue is silly, and has become redundant in its arguments. Some of you are convinced that LEGO should acquiesce to your desires for representations of popular characters without having to pay excessive prices on the secondary market. I get that. Must be frustrating. Every collector deals with that at some point, though. Then, you get a guy with actual convention experience who agrees with you telling you why it is the way it is, and you just echo-chamber right over him without skipping a beat. There have been a lot of very good points as to why it is a bad practice. There have been a few pretty insightful points as to why it is a practice that will most likely continue despite opposition, but mostly, there has been a lot of "It's not fair! I want it! I want it!" poorly disguised as logic. The point I'm trying to make here is: Yes, we understand. You feel very strongly that LEGO has somehow wronged you by not giving you an opportunity to own a rare collectible. It is difficult and disappointing. Some of us agree, and some of us do not. Stop trying to out-argue the ones who have a different opinion. If you disagree with someone, you do not necessarily need to offer a point-by-point tear-down of their opinion that shows why you are right and they are not. You can disagree without being snarky or rude. I am not innocent of this behavior, I am aware.
