LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Kage Goomba replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I barely have space on my shelf for it - I regret nothing. *pets spike* -
In all fairness it wasn't that obvious in terms of solutions.

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Kage Goomba replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh I can bet good money someone somewhere will rant/whine/#### their brains out both ears over this and have an opinion. But at the end of the day...it's just that...an opinion. I'm sure there are improvements and mods that people will come up with - but the original set is "legit" when its all said and done. -
LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Honestly - after watching the video - the designer himself proving it can be disassembled without danging the product - its a no contest. People can debate methods - but when they can show at least one way WITH VIDEO proof - can't really argue. Case closed. From there on its just modifications and improvements. (And for the record I have this set and recently built it - so yeah - if he can do it - no reason why we cant) -
I strongly suggest the author posts this in the first post. This pretty much emphatically ends the thread. Anything else is a waste of time short of "better methods" Lego's pretty much made it clear now.

You know that moment when you suddenly feel stupid? Yeah.....lol Although I disagree with the brown rods - I find using double sided adhesive is easier - but still. -

So long as the screen didn't crack. :)

Yeah and I'm not looking forward to the instructions for mine - and I think you've seen what I've got going on behind the curtain - I may end up getting yelled at for my chosen paths lol. One things for sure...Chinese knockoffs will never have that kind of quality or care. I'd rather deal with the original author/creator - even if its more expensive.
-
I have to disagree with your remark about instructions. As someone who is designing their own "UCS" that will likely be 4-5-6000 pieces - that's not something you take lightly. Mines already eaten up hundreds of hours in just the design phase. That's a lot of work and effort. Some take over a year! Now if said instructions are stupidly expensive then you'd have a case. But honestly the prices I've seen online are rather rational for things of this nature. Likening to an artist drawing for a commission. But as someone pointed out - don't like it - do your own. This is a work of art frankly - and very well done/designed. I'm tempted to buy one myself if it weren't for my to-do list lego wise. :)
-
Agreed - for a non-UCS model - that is VERY detailed - nicely done.
-
I don't have the bricks to experiment/test - all I have is my UCS Models (AT-AT/ISD/Gunship/TIE Fighter/etc.) and hope and pray it won't be a disaster when I get to the real life build. Studio has some inconsistencies for sure - but I know enough about lego's to be fairly confident that I can reason it out. As to your assumption - yes - that is essentially what I'm doing. I'll not be finished with the design when I reveal - as there will be a point where the design is obviously going to be complete (as the layout will pretty much draw its own conclusions) and when I reach that tipping point I'll unveil it here. Namely to get help from the community (and risk their wrath if something is wrong with it) and to satisfy a select number of people who obviously have been begging for this thing for a while now. :) (found one today - certainly is very excited)

Trench Run MOCs to Display Minifig & Micro Scale Ships
Kage Goomba replied to SquirrelArmy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Totally see Darth Vader peeking over your trench run wall saying "Impressive....Most Impressive" -
Nice - I'll be picking a pair of these up for my AT-AT when they become avail in the states.

What was the Model # of those snow trooper packs? Thanks.

I'm no expert - very much a newbie (as it is my first MOC) - but the fellow enthusiasts who poked me in private all have been rather complimentary and helpful. As to my reasoning in hiding the reveal - no ones done this yet - I'd like to be the first one there if possible. And as I've said before - its VERY challenging - I can see why no ones touched it - either they don't know much about it - or the design is not friendly. Personally I'd like to have confidence it can be finished and not just stand on sheer stubbornness alone. Now if only I could get a live conversation with some of these guys :P :) (Seems discord isn't entirely popular here lol)

Made a lot of progress last night now that my AT-AT is finished. Forward Saucer/Dome is essentially done now - Mandible is also done. I ran into some scaling issues so its not going to be entirely a true match - but lego parts are not kind. I have a sneaking suspicion there will be revisions as things roll forward with new bricks/new techniques. Working on the Left Cargo Hatch and attaching to the dome. Once done the rear saucer section will remain along with engine plating - ill show off my work at that point as its just a matter of fine tuning and mirroring. As at that point it will be pretty obvious where to go next. Stay tuned. (Still happy to talk to YT enthusiasts who have built some very complex variations)

Got a response from Lego this morning. So that article claiming LEGO is "done" - is a lie. Gotta love journalism.

EDIT - nevermind. ^_^ Lego Crop says they have NOT responded to the issue yet. Or at least they are not done looking into this. I pointed them to the article. Gotta love media over dramatizing things. PS: sorry for the multi ping - Windows is being a turd today.
