I know ThreeJS ovvers a LDraw Loader. But this would just be a 3D render of a LDraw file (I may have another usecase for that in mind... :D), but my thought was creating Icons to be used as Badges/Ranks etc. Having a js viewport created in the html for every object may be overkill. therefore SVGs offer the exact thing which would allow & is implemented in all browsers and can be utilized with regular elements to be loaded into the view.

Nice, thanks. So my interest would be just still scenes for creating backgroundless single files from a certain (always same) angle and would like to get that as an SVG - question would go toards the export SVG function of Blender: If it is basically just a very simple arrangemange, transparent background and also very simple 1-2 spot lighting, may the result get me at least the coordinates of the wireframe accordingly? Asking because if your feeling would directly go into "plenty of manual correction efforts needed after export" then I may screw the hole idea already. :D

ChatGPT told: So I assume it would be, use Blender with the LDraw loader plugin to create sceneries there and export them (possibly directly) as SVGs.. (next time I should do this before asking in a fresh topic *sigh - I will leave it open if I have further questions as it may include different technologies where I am a bloody newb in..)

[FINISHED] Maintenance of Eurobricks on 20th January

You can be assured I will take closer looks on everybody still having / getting their newspaper on the testing of the major release - additionally I may also approach the community with some future polls then asking to visit the test environment and give opinions. -
Hey folks, Is it somehow posible to use a POV scene with a camera & objects set to be converted into a vector path for the 2D representation of the 3D scene? Background of my question: As we are using some LDraw Models as 2D renders in the forums, those will not work well with zooming / scaling. Vector Graphics (SVGs having the paths in XML format) would be ideal to have. As I am no expert when it comes to 3D & rendering topics, I am asking :) Have not yet invested any efforts into a search on my own, I would like to ask the community 1st if somebody has good knowledge for me to start my journey from.

Next Update: I have stopped all my efforts on fixing minor issues with the current themes, as the vendor released the new v5.0.0 Release of the product, which renders all efforts on the old templates useless! -

Fixed the cookie being set only for the session (yeah makes no sense at all - my fault ) -> fixed. So the dark / light switch in the NavBar on the top right does not reset after the Browser is restarted - the Cookie is no valid for a Max-Age of 365 days. -
Ok, then I am happy I lately underestood correctly :D For the themes not being 100% clean, not allowing for very well contrast everywhere in detail and the eyes easily identifying differences (read/unread for e.g.) and other things like possibly missing / not well visible border, I also agree. Unfortunately this still goes into the same category of "Main consideration from our side was having a fresh & secure server operation system beneath & have the product updated to the latest stable released version of the vendor to increase security of the platform and also allow us to keep your user-data safe. Missing themes were considered not the main priority" so -> makes only sense to wait for the next big major release to work on the good foundation of a well defined theme afterwards. So also for the huge free spaces I got another feedback of "meh, on a mobile device I basically can just read the top 2-3 topics without scrolling" and I also agree on their current designs not being very content friendly on mobile devices.

Just ramped up Edge in my Windows Host and logged in, created a video of me doing zooming functions of the browser (CTRL+ Mousewheel or +/- Keys). Two questions @zoo: Is the behavior replicating the behavior in your browser? If the 1st question can be answered with "yes": For me everything is looking fine from what I expect of the zooming function. What would be your expectation? Possibly I overlooked things, please dont hesitate to tell me "nahw you moron, you overlooked the issue which was in your view" to give a simplified example :D Working in the other browser threw me off track.. xD To add... For the last sentence you refer to those gaps, right? I personally agree on them being "a big larger then i would think it is needed" - on the other hand for this righ now falls under "sorry to tell, but we are expectating the next big major version from the software in the next 1-2 Month to be released and this would render any work we would spend right now obsolete". After giving their release some little time to hang and observe if other communites can verify the product is stable enough we would like to test and possibly upgrade soon to the new version to create us a new foundation for long lasting new & fitting themes.

White backgrounds? Just for clarification as I thought you were speaking of the dark theme - so sorry but now I am even more confused of which of the two you are speaking - sorry from my side! There is another magic one: In the forum main view, click the button to mark all read -> their icons will completely vanish until the next reload - I screwed the annotation up a little I reckon - but no critical harm...

[WINNERS] Eurobricks Alt-Build Contest 2025

Congratulations to the winners, kudos to all participants and for @Clone OPatra doing the hard work in the backgrounds to allow such contents! ❤️ -
@Ngoc Nguyen In theory yes - but it is intented for helping the eyes to identify unread threads vs already read ones - so don't get me wrong, but this would exactly counter your previous comlaints of unread threads not being distinquishable enough. Possibly I understood wrong, are you speaking just about a very slight shift of the color or a huger one making it much darker? clicking the moon icon in the Navigation bar, top right

Ah yeah, may add to why the response was so little to the offer - so yes his link contains a backup of files, but I just checked two example profiles and went with the folder views, not clicking deeper as I was doing so while WFH and was in a haste :) -

Ah, I can reproduce: Happening just on mobile it seems, not on desktop: opened the link which was working, went to the burger menu and put lego911 in the search and hit the button -> it was still showing kl's profile. Hope it helps. -

@Brickshelf Archive Why not giving it some days for people dropping by, reading and getting back to you with their kudos? I went to your site found there is no navigation available & only a searchbox, I tried 1-2 known names (kl himself and lego911 I think it was, but both gave me no single result). So my feedback is: I think if it would be more easily browsable, you may attract more people. Thanks from my side for you having good intentions to backup contents for the community to not have another disaster like the MOCpages site happening. Please don't directly delete the bucket as then all pulling off their servers would really be a pure waste & possible work on the mentioned improvements for browsability. btw, thumbnails are created - the great zipping started.... may take my server some more days to pack all contents up. @R0Sch please don't expect me to directly have something prepared the next days to consume as i am a poor web developer and I may work on that on the weekend... :P -

@SNIPE I deeply agree my own perception of the forum product acting better has not yet come truth for us & I think I can understand you very well, as I am internally tending to rage for such not working out. To be honest with you I don't have any clue yet how this is happening, nor do I have any clue into what direction to take further looks, because: We are basically with the default theme of the provider, besides some color overwrites (those should not interfere with any function you mentioned). Nevertheless you can expect me to not be satisfied yet for the exact reasons you named - though I can't promise anything I have to admit unfortunately. But not off my list of topics I would like to still solve - hope this helps for the time being.. Best regards, Christoph -

@MAB I totally agree on the risk of such scenarios creating unforseeable costs started by best intentions from the community - as I need to count me in there. It may be a very special situation for the old owner passing away, nethertheless back then when he owned the service he should ideally assured he is covered by costs in his own interest. I don't want to retrospectivly give stupid advises - but not doing so just allows for the risk being a possibility for the people having to solve the issues. So I would hope that he made sure this is the case. This may also be a recommendation for people thinking of mirroring it on their own and directly mentioning in a second sentence that it may blow their own budget. If one has this direct fear coming up or can't assure enough security to have own budgets covered - then better not think further to not create yourself unforseeable harm - even if the intention have been the best, nobody is challenging anything else! Just an example of being suprised: Who would have guessed that 4.2 million thumbnails in 300x300 max resolution would already count up to 227 additional GBs to be stored on disks - quite unexpected from my personal expectations and may be the same category of "better don't underestimate the internet" / at least for the thumbnails it was eyes-opening for myself.. And the zipfiles still need to be created.. :D -
I would just get back to X with "yeah, if we would have done it, it would have let us down in regard of our expectations, which you can see from our imaginary - totally made up - projected losses in figure 1, which we - you may have guessed it already - are now demanding to be covered by X" *cough 🤭

I have the feeling this discussion may get very political fastly. Before that drifts off too far into opinions and them being different, I would like to kindly ask people to calm down. Your opinion may be ok for you, as the opinion of another person may be fine for his/her. I think we can be happy to be different. I just hope we are not falling down a rabbithole here..

It is up to any provider to take precautions before putting up a service. But yes you may be right if they have to pay traffic. On the other hand: if we have more mirroring sites up, it may relieve traffic on them again for the time being.. -

Thanks for your efforts! Your search is not running well - ids are working, but usernames did not work for me, tried with 1-2.. Btw: possibly better already think of you really being commited / willing to take the costs privatly or not better think twice about stopping directly - at least it does not sound very promising for one asking for "donations" one sentence later.. dont get me wrong please - just want to say the costs may easily explode if such is offered to the internet - hope you at least set yourself some cost limits in AWS! -

lil update inbetween, category "don't ever underestimate 20 years of internet history": after being roughly 1/3 through with thumbnail-generation, it is already 89 GB for 300x300 thumbnails... *sigh :D "compute little server, compute!" :D
