Chances may be high its AI-assisted Bots as they are getting near the 100% rate of solving reCaptcha (v2, wide spread in the internet) already... Article from Tom's Hardware

Thanks for the report, we are aware of it and also not happy. Seems AI helps spammers to render reCaptcha Methods useless vs bots. Funnily the spammers seem to have valid gmail accounts (account creation at google may also just be secured by reCaptcha..).

I can feel your pains as some of your reported requirements seem to be hard to impossible to achieve. As I was in touch with the staff in the past (one man company it is), they are open for feedbacks and offer forums to discuss matters. On the other hand I can understand possible reasonings behind those limitations, as one as a platform provider who would like to stick to go with LEGO, has to follow the rules of LEGO. Just from my imagination I could think of some unreachable barriers may have been implemented on purpose, just to disallow for e.g. custom stickers. Additionally the other thought may go for their own reputation for new customers getting less than they might have expected from the pictures - I do not want to blame the autor, it may be a thing of the audience not reading well enough, but the outcome for the plaform is still the same. To conclude: It is not always easy to please everybody and stay within allowances and expectations.. sadly. My strong believe is, there are valid reasons behind for the restrictions being implemented, even if the outcome may not be good for old curated MOCs. *just in case: only my personal opinion

Frontpage News posting to Facebook Eurobricks site
aFrInaTi0n replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in Forum Information and Help
Little hint: Seems the automatic-renewal of the fb-tokens is not working out as expected - the script can not post since last friday - I will give an update as soon as that got fixed. -
Frontpage News posting to Facebook Eurobricks site

Thanks for sharing. I may take further looks but can not assure any fast solution. Background: The python script was just some weekend project which was considered working from checking 50 postings.. so yeah it may naturally still contain unfound bugs.. :D -
Frontpage News posting to Facebook Eurobricks site
aFrInaTi0n replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hmmm for me it has posted all recent Frontpage news entries to the FB page. Additionally to my script taking the frontpage entries, staff is occationally manually posting to the fb page. There we may align better in the future to possibly better just expand the automatic posting with more content (pictures to speak) - for those "doubled content" I manually deleted some fb page entries. So my script shall still be working as expected from what I see from my compare between fb page and the frontpage. -
Frontpage News posting to Facebook Eurobricks site
aFrInaTi0n replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in Forum Information and Help
Facebook has limits for posts sent to pages. Additionally one can not "hack" the original posting dates of old Frontpage entries. For those reasons we decided to just add current content. But one of my eyes is also sad for us not having all historic posts covered. :) -
Forced light mode text in dark mode

Unfortunately my skills also just reached to create this possibly not 100% feature complete dark-mode hack... -
Forced light mode text in dark mode
aFrInaTi0n replied to JesseNight's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hello @JesseNight - that is a known bug and occurs when HTML content is posted. In theory we have the option to disable HTML at whole and just let postings create via WYSIWYG editor elements. But we may not be there yet for everybody being happy about this. As I am mostly using the dark mode fo rmy self (reason for putting the efforts of mine in the 1st place :D) i also tried to find a working CSS selector to create an overwrite working just in the postings, but I did not find a solution of clearing the background color without affecting other elements which would have even worsen the general visuals of postings. Since the vendor brought the next major version 5.x of the forum software, from staff side we agreed on letting that hand some more time to get stable and after the summer period us starting with efforts of testing the new major version and doing our adjustments, as the 5.x versions offer a darkmode without any hacks needed - my hopes are this may address the issue wie have in the current 4.x major version we are still in. Not sure how experienced you are with CSS, but I am generally open for any selectors from users which may have found "the right selector to just address elements within the posts but no others". There are smarter people out there than me for sure! :D -
[9th-11th of August] Unexpected downtime of the site
aFrInaTi0n replied to aFrInaTi0n's topic in Frontpage News
Some further details (for technically interested people): We found an issue with the overall setup of the server in regard of maximum memory allocations of different background services (database, search-engine etc) which led to the server being at its upper limit. Basically too much memory was given for the background processes & the PHP workers (they deliver to get the pages for the users in the browser) were not able to get their needs for memory granted. This led to a so called "segmentation fault" & in consequence the site got unavailable on Saturday. We addressed the issue with setting some less aggressive memory allocations for leaving more free RAM, this should fix the source of the issue I have seen over the last month already. I wanted to address the issue on Saturday evening with a server reboot to get the complete memory allocations into a clean state as some kind of quick fix - unfortunately the server did not come back online from my restart attempt. This morning we found out the server was in a shut down state. From my sysadmin experience this is somehow odd as I am 100% sure I gave a restart command, not a shutdown. But I am not sure if the situation addressed above was also have some weird effects to the operating system / other tasks of the restart process. I am somehow happy it was no issue from our server & operating system setup, as today we could revive the server with a restart from the hosters web interfaces. But I will keep this in mind for the future as this may be an early indicator of some hardware degration (motherboard or such) - if this happens again we will get in contact with the hoster to help us troubleshooting the matter. Jim and me found we had an issue in me not having "the right access" to the hosters web interfaces for me being able to fix the situation - multi factor authentication, so security for the win, I reckon... We fixed that as well so I can act on my own, while Jim can enjoy his vacation trips without having a mobile connection.. Lesson learned here Hope this may give some backgrounds of why it took us so long for getting the site running again. -
Dear users, as you may have recognized - we are up and running again! The site is fully functional & we are very sorry for the downtime over the weekend! Backgrounds On Saturday evening we had an issue in the backends of the web components, leading to Eurobricks not being browsable. As I was in a bit of a rush that evening I decided to "give the whole server a restart" as the simple fix - the little did I know that this decision led to the server not cleanly restarting but shutting down and me having no access to restart it again. Conclusion To conclude, Murphy told us a lesson in "what may go wrong, will go wrong" - this time it was security with a multi-factor-authentication. We are working on removing those gaps for us being able to react more swiftly. Best regards

Hey folks, some may have recognized already: Since some weeks we have integrated our Frontpage News to be posted to our Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/eurobricks). We thought it may allow our community and their great builds more visibility to reach more people. Vice versa we see it a good possibily for people at Facebook recognizing where they can find the makers to ask questions. We hope you appreciate the feature of cross-posting. Best regards

All welcome - I just like to keep things transparent also for our community - errors can happen all the time, but it is how we decide to handle the situations. Possibly worth to state there is the next SysAdminAppreciation-Day (https://sysadminday.com/) coming up! It is always the 4th Friday of July - which will be the following Friday the 25th of July - with its 25 years anniversary! So if you have IT folks around you at work which are always fixing stuff - they would be happy about some sweets or at least a grateful "thank you" for them being recognized.

It is may bad of bad planning - the initial announcement was too far in the past & I just put the notice banner on the page yesterday as a "last minute" reminder for people possibly getting logged out because of the change & them knowing what the reason may be. So @Sven J you did nothing wrong - possibly only I did.. Next time I may give less time between the news for such change to let people not forget it already & possibly putting a reminder there for over 1-2 days before. Also I am encouraging people to bring up topics like this, as it allows for others to catch up in information - so I am also more than happy with that thread here. ♥ Best regards -

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
aFrInaTi0n replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks Grover - have seen the same pattern & my solution (not yet started with, I have to ask for excusing me for this) would be something similar. But I created the issue with applying a DB-wide fixture for emojis & images not showing up. As I had a good feeling about my fix not doing "more harm than damage" and the reality looking other ways (links bein broken) - I just need to give myself more time and possible another pair of not my eyes for QA... -
Just redo... its like an android device and should always be able to get into the OTA update mode.. so basically unbrickable 🤭 I have not checked this for myself, but what also just came to my mind: Some people have energy savings enabled on their phone - this may cause issue for the update process if it may interfere. or quickfix, configure the screen turning off to 30 minutes to assure the app may run in foreground all the time & getting no penalty from the OS (android mostly, no apple user here, so can't tell for their settings and possible effects). Fingers crossed for it running through... for me it happened already multiple times but finally came to the succesful end.

Hi folks, user @ArrowBricks reported a possible bug to us, original observation: Therefore I would like to ask the community if others experienced the same. More detailed questions I would like to ask, if known by anybody (if there are other similar reports): Can you remember how long it took for working on the reply text, before finally trying to hit the Reply button, leading to unresponsivness / no action happening. Is it a possible scenario for your mobile device switching from its direct mobile line connection towards wifi, or the other way around? (May result in other IPs of your Browser) How did you progress after it was obvious, posting did not work? And did it help? Was the text you entered still available after for e.g. reloading the page, or are all typed-in input gone by then already? We are looking forward for any feedbacks.

I am not sure if I am of help anyhow, but I just thought of some sprayable rubbers / there are some manufacturers offering products for cars. Name of one product is: My idea would be, it could be applied between the bricks and any standoffs can easily trimmed away - et voila you should have the gap between both parts filled with a hardened rubber on mostlikely the whole touching surface area between the two parts. But I never tested this for myself and it may be a stupid idea.. unfortunately wisdom for stupidity of an idea can just be found out with trying the idea..

@Lyichir The latest version I just updated has support for Bluesky embedding, may you try (even here in this posting, as long as you have some content which is related to LEGO - I would be curious how it is looking.) test post for a bluesky embedding - sheeeesh thats a big huge, isn't it?! :D
