[MA-23 - Nature is after you] Dangers of Umbara
Brickshipyard replied to Oky's topic in Watto's Junkyard
The tentacles and flying mantis creature are all freakishly wonderful! I remember those scenes so vividly from that 4 episode mini arc of Umbara. General Krell was maybe more despicable than even some CIS Generals, except Grievous. Lastly, I like how you depicted the Umbaran with the green visor helmet that is more accurate. Lego's take on the Umbarans was half hearted IMO. Good luck in the contest! -
[M4-23 - Minifigure Habitat] Mouse Droid Marathon
Brickshipyard replied to CommanderJonny1's topic in Watto's Junkyard
The racing mouse idea is very fun, but what really pleases me is that rounded sliding door. Looks like an excellent design I may have to employ on a future MOC!- 4 replies

[M4-23 - Minifigure Habitat] Guarding Palpa-clones
Brickshipyard replied to mjjas13's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Sweet! Fun details all around and about time the Royal Guards enjoyed some amenities because their job really stinks when you think about it. Maybe at your hangout they can finally eat medium rare steak because you know the Emperor likes to cook everything super well done with his force lightning lol. They all know each other so it makes sense they can bathe fully disrobed, but it would be funny if you had one still wearing his face mask in the hot tub, yet naked in only a bathing suit ;). Similar to the Mandalorian Clan culture where even camp fire eating req'd separation to remove the helmet. -
Here is a link for my entry, per the contest rules: Thanks!

[M4-23 - Imperial Ship] Imperial Marauder Cruiser
Brickshipyard replied to Brickshipyard's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Thanks! I checked that toy out and see the similarities! Maybe that's the thing that inspired the Star Wars designers of this ship decades ago :). -
[M4-23 - Imperial Ship] – Darth Vader's Black Angel
Brickshipyard replied to Danny_Boy4's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Very cool main image! I admire your photoshopping abilities which put your build into the Imperial hangar. The Eta-2 lives on and in a more nimble scale, like pointed out. The imperial techs helping out are a nice detail also. -
Hello Eurobricks community, I present my entry into the May the 4th contest: a MOC of the Marauder Cruiser. The ship has an interesting shape and I had a lot of fun capturing the inflated cockpit area as well as the swooping nature in the wings. I was limited in my piece use because this MOC is made ONLY from a single set each: the underated Ambush on Ferrix and Obi-wan vs. Vader set (which is not popular, but has some very handy pieces and figures). In particular, I enjoyed integrating the windscreen into the cockpit (which has a very similar match to the source material), making various interior spaces with a colorful engine bay, sandwiching the engine thrusters, and adding some serious weaponry. Wookiepedia has a cannon manifest of the ship to include 8 turbolaser cannons and in some editions, 4 missile launchers. Needless to say, these ships could really pack a punch in firepower! I built two heavy cannons on the wings, two forward mounted lasers on the nose, a dual laser belly turret, and a single ion cannon turret on top for disabiling craft. My version could seat a maximum of 8 figures if pushed, but 6 comfortably. The Maurader class of ship fulfilled many roles from patrol to interdiction. Marauders in a group can be highly effective for taking on bigger ships and their sublight speed comparable to some slower Rebel starfighters. The design history dates back to Sienar Technologies before the Clone Wars and the Republic sales weren't good. Mostly, the ships were sold to the Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) and used in that region of space up through and after the Imperial Era. The CSA utilized Mauraders in their fleets for law enforcement and anti-piracy, although ironically Pirates prefered to use the Marauders wherever possible because they were quite resourceful. Eventually, quite a few Marauders find their way into the Rebel Alliance's hands. My particular version is a CSA variant (as evidenced by the yellow markings and CSA Blue pilot) during the early Imperial Era, conscripted for Imperial use and under the command of the Imperial Capt. Tala Durith. The time period is a few years before 9 BBY (before battle of Yavin) when she was a less cynical and still an impressionable Imperial Officer, yet was gradually becoming aware of the evil, not the good, the Empire cast upon the Galaxy. In my hypothetical mission, she is ordered to Stars' End, an infamous CSA prison located on Mytus VII, a desolate asteroid located in the Mytus system of Wild Space. In my main image, that purple hued asteroid with a space base is meant to represent Stars' End. Her objective was to inspect the state of the art prison system which used entropy field stasis booths, instead of normal prison cells. The Empire was interested in these advancements for their own prison networks and wanted to study the CSA's approach. Furthermore, the Empire wanted to remind the CSA that it would do wise to remember the might of the Empire and that the CSA was always allowed operational autonomy, but not true independance from the Empire. The CSA knew this, but was also inclined to invite the Imperial auditors because the prison project could prove profitable. According to cannon, the Emperor himself was scheduled to tour the facility. The utterly hopeless prsioners Capt. Durith saw at Stars' End made a lasting, negative impression on her. She discovered that many prisoners were sentenced for nothing more than freedom of expression violations. In essence, political prisoners and if you want to know more about the CSA and this prison, I encourage you to read the novel Han Solo at Star's End, written by Brian Daley. A solid Star Wars book from a galaxy of book writing far, far away.... Anyways, back to the ship. Capt. Durith is accompanied by a Stormtrooper escort and her trusted Ned-B droid is assigned for ship maintenance and labor duties. He sits in the back of the ship. Their mission to Stars' End aboard the Marauder is one the early chapters of their special, human to droid relationship, as the droid was the only sentient thing she could safely share her personal feelings and concerns with about the Empire. Ned-B was a lot smarter than what he had been designed for and Durith, having recognized this, would falsify his memory wipe records. Thus allowing him to develop a personality. I hope you enjoyed my story and the way I weaved real cannon with my own spin on things :). Thanks for reading. I will be happy to explain any aspect of the story and the ship. More pictures can be found on my flickr:https://flic.kr/ps/3mi3BG Good luck to everyone in the contest and thank you judges for putting it on. - Thebrickshipyard

[M4-23 - Rogue Clone] - Traitor to the Republic
Brickshipyard replied to coatofbricks's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Whoa! Great battle scene! Lots of depth and man, what a traitorious Clone. The building doorway alcoves and patchy tiling is eye catching. I always enjoyed those episodes in the animated Clone Wars that dealt with betrayal by Clones and Republic soliders. -
[M4-23 - Rogue Clone] Duel on Maryx Minor
Brickshipyard replied to Phil_DeLaGhetto's topic in Watto's Junkyard
I remember this comic issue! I kept thinking why is Darth Vader trying to kill Boba? Nonetheless, the plot was a welcome twist for guys you normally think of as allies. Anyways, the build achieves many great things from the rock formation, to the lava, to the dynamic Boba blasting back to Vader's displeasure :). I also note the brown hand under Fett's gun to represent the handle. Nice detail! -
[M4-23 - Minifig Habitat] - Azzameen Lounge
Brickshipyard replied to jp-30's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Just a fun, colorful build and completely unexpected from an often forgotten source material! Good ole X-wing Alliance... You went old school :). The contrasting floor pattern and use of the azure and green bricks make for an eye catching MOC! -
[M4-23 - Imperial Ship] - Delta/I Shuttle
Brickshipyard replied to Thedbbuildworks's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Great shuttle build! Looks like a very heavy modding of the official set, but you made the folding wings much more accurate, plus the red lines are cool. I particularly like how you made the windscreen with those transparent trapezoid pieces. Any interior shots? That's where I felt Lego's version was really weak in design. -

[M4-23 - Minifigure Habitat] – Pizza Hutt

Hahaha I love this entry! Clever and tasty! The real life Pizza Hut should have paid you and done some special Star Wars May 4th advertising. ;) -
What a fantastic mix of themes and a fun spin on the Death Star! Pirates hasn't looked this fun since Baracuda bay! With lots of vibrant colors and natural wonder to boot :D. I like the Islander and Water cave parts the best.

[MOC] #6175 Crystal Explorer Sub redesign
Brickshipyard replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Finally a beautiful and fitting usage of that trans purple windscreen! Such a spacious cockpit with high playability = big thumbs up! I also agree with Kevin8 you found a perfect integration of those rubbery belts. Aquanauts hasn't looked this refreshing in years :). -
Wow! Some very professional work on display here. Good to approach some source material nobody has covered and especially at the UCS scale. While the speeder looks awesome, your printed booklet is just stunning in every way. I can only imagine the amount of editing to make absolutely sure everything was good for expensive printing. The pictures, steps, and format are very clean and on par or better quality than I've seen from Lego instruction manuals.

Classic Space Era Spaceship Contest - Results
Brickshipyard replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Wonderful to see an M-tron and Spyrius MOC in the top two spots! Congrats to the winners who really brought a lot of talent to bear! I really enjoyed participating in this contest with the community and thank you mods for making it possible. -
[MOC] Classic Space Nebulon-B Frigate
Brickshipyard replied to Brickshipyard's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks Guybrush and heh, yes indeed I took at least one G.E apart (wasn't easy!). Much better to start from fresh out of the box :). Re the open panel shot: your classic space feel perspective is interesting and I never thought of it like that before. I needed the window open for the X-wing to park with a bit of nose sticking out, but now that you mention it - open vistas (platforms with panels, etc) could be found on quite a few official C.S. sets. I just remembered that iconic scene from the Empire Strikes Back and said "alright, I have just enough room to swing this shot". Turns out I did. -
[MOC] Hanging Temple of the Big Foot Buddha
Brickshipyard replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The mountain's scale and volume captures my imagination! Side benefit of the mountain's flat, back side which allows for better displaying against a wall backdrop too although that was probably forced by the contest rules. Overall, just a gorgeous contest entry and I wish you a top placement for your efforts. -
[MOC] Classic Space Nebulon-B Frigate
Brickshipyard replied to Brickshipyard's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks Max and Viper! You'd be surprised how many parts are leftover after combining two galaxy explorers into this MOC. Enough to fill half a large ziplock bag, but of mostly generic pieces. My goals was to make a Nebulon-B for $200 or less (for budget and sales reasons) and the galaxy explorer fulfills that role handsomely. This price point is also about the top end I would want to pay for an official, system scale Neb-B, excluding a UCS version of course. -
[MOD] Dagobah Jedi Training with a Midi-Scale X-Wing
Brickshipyard replied to mcphatty's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lovely X-wing at better scale than Lego's official models. I have made a midi scale version and much prefer it to anything official of the last 13+ years and you demonstrate why: it fits SW scenes like Dagobah perfectly. I like your approach to the wing mounted laser cannons also.- 4 replies

[MOC] Classic Space Nebulon-B Frigate
Brickshipyard replied to Brickshipyard's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on my build! Yes - I tried to be discreationary as I applied the colored pieces in areas that made sense, reserving the blue for the front, upper sections where the eyes would be drawn too. Mechanical, exposed areas work best with the light gray of course. Yellow and black really pops against it all in Classic Space style. "Lunar frigate" is a great name! :) The internal technic beams make this form possible, because otherwise regular brick and plate attaching would not be enough. I may try some other SW vehicles, such as the Falcon, in this mash up. Thanks for the encouragement! Also, thank you Eurobricks team for the frontpaging! First time that's ever happened to me on a Lego website, so a real honor. Much appreciated! - The Brick Shipyard
