[M4 -26 - Alphabet] Gorgon-Q Support Fighter

Thanks for the kind words on the ring, a side effect is there is literally no good place to hold it, hence the messy photos -
[M4 -26 - Alphabet] Gorgon-Q Support Fighter
Thedbbuildworks replied to Thedbbuildworks's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Much appreciated, the only way I could see a Q working is if it lands in that position. …the trial and error that went into getting it to stand up -
Commissioned by the CIS General Lok Durd, Designed in collaboration between the Z-Gomot Ternbuell Guppat Corporation and the Colicoid Creation Nest, the Gorgon-Q support fighter was built to deliver continuous bombardment without the need for cooldown. The Outer ring structure, a proprietary particle accelerator, inspired by Z-Gomot’s TSMEU-6 wheelbike, rotates during flight to increase power efficiency via a specialised dynamo mechanism. In combination with the high surface area dedicated to heat dispersal, the Gorgon-6 can maintain an unprecedented heavy cannon fire rate of 750rpm, with field tests reporting a blast rate so rapid the lasers appear to fire as a continuous beam. This prototype unfortunately is not currently in mass production due to two key failure points; 1. Repeated instances of the primary cannon failing to cease fire, resulting in friendly fire casualties in all field tests, notably the complete destruction of a munificent frigate, holorecording available. 2. The highly specialised systems require an advanced droid brain to pilot such as a BX-series droid, due to the ever increasing demand for these units in covert ground operations, General grievous has personally ordered a pause to the project This may be my only build this year, I have some family stuff going on that are really taking up all my time. i zoned in on Q almost immediately because I wanted to do a ship that was upright. originally I planned to have a fixed cockpit in the centre of the Q shape, however just for fun I played around with a rotating mechanism…. And had so much fun that that just got locked in. the cockpit gave me a lot of trouble, I wanted something bug like, and that made me start with a Sortve carapace over the top, but it just ended up looking like a submarine, which I’m not too happy with i had wanted to build a droid brain rather than have a separate pilot, but all my designs frankly sucked. always appreciated -Dan

It’s stipulated that the aphabet ship should be a 1-2 man fighter Can droid brains count? I’m thinking if I can show effort has been made to make a distinct droid brain that takes up about the size of a figure would that be reasonable?. the reason I ask is I’ve unintentionally ended up with a theme for my entries this year and want to lean into it
-
Any word on whether sentinel-brix or kalais are taking part? Their work last year was phenomenal
-
Yeah sorry I went full autism same sentiment, I won something last year, I just want the opportunity to improve and flex my skills, I don’t hold anyone else to this but I’d be happy for prizes to go to newcomers or those that haven’t won something before not at all to say that winning is a guarantee, just in not entering for the prize this year
-
Thanks for running this again this year id like to enter but please exclude me from any prizes. a question: in the size matters category are we permitted a border exempt from the 24 studs maximum dimension? Provided the actual content within the border is no bigger than 24x24x24 i ask because I’d like to use 4 12x12 bricks as the structural base, but they will look ugly if I can’t border them even a 1 stud allowance (in all directions) for a black border would help understood if you refuse though, just thought it was worth asking
-
cant stress enough how much @Sentinel_Brix completely obliterated us all this year, his bar and ship especially were incredible, im just grateful he cant win multiple prizes or we'd all be SOL gonna have to work extra hard next time to knock him off of his throne

Sorry about the figures, I’m autistic so if it wasn’t in the category specification I didn’t think it’d be an issue, the two unaltered characters where included because I thought they fit in with the scene as they were. thank you for you feedback though, it is appreciated and I’ll try to take it into account if I enter the competition again -
