  1. That's what Madison assumed when he pushed for war. Unfortunately for us, the British still devoted a significant naval presence to blockading American ports (about 1/3 of their total navy, iirc) because of how successfully they'd managed to bottle the French navy to their ports after 1805. Or maybe not so unfortunately given how easy it was for most American ships to run the blockade Either way, with the Treaty of Paris in 1814, the British were able to turn much more of their attention to the Americas in the last year of the war. It's a good thing it didn't happen earlier; it took a long time for young, modern generals to get promoted and turn the infantry into a professional fighting force. The early stages were certainly not pretty for our infantry
  2. Omg, this is fantastic. I especially love the posed scene. The lighting makes it look like a still from an action movie. Its great.
  3. $50 off! Wow what a steal. What store is that? I like the three masted version, but I'm afraid that the length of it kind of exacerbates how shallow the side walls are. Most of the shots that show off the full length almost look like WIPs as a result. If I were you I'd raise the wall just a bit. Then again, maybe it's just me. The schooner looks really promising, and I like the shape. I think it'll look awesome once you finish it. Not too sure about schooner sail plans, but my gut says the middle mast should be brought back a few studs. Maybe someone who knows more can comment?
  4. No problem at all! It's tough to keep all the battles straight, I forget plenty myself haha. And very lucky! I hope to do the same one day if I visit Boston. The closest I've seen is the U.S.S. Constellation in Baltimore. Although it's classified as a sloop, it's about the same size as the old frigates, and actually larger than the frigate she was name for
  5. Thanks Basiliscus! That was very helpful.
  6. Haha, fair enough. Sacrifices must be made, though it's a shame those had to include Zebulon Pike. Man has such a good name haha.
  7. One of my favorite battles haha! Also, in all fairness, we torched York (modern day Toronto and British Canada's capital) first @Gary: Lovely work as always! As a big US history goober, I love the War of 1812. However, I must correct you. The last major combat of the war was one of my other favorites, the USS Constitution vs. the HMS Levant and Cyane.
  8. I have these questions as well. I've followed Guilds of Historica for a long time, but mostly just to see the MOCs. I dont actually know how any of it "works".
  9. Wow this really is something else. Stunning.
  10. Im not usually a fan of all black builds but you have enough color and texture in there to break it up. Great job!
  11. Same. I think its easier since those two flags are so ubiquitous and available. But I'm on board with making an Eslandola flag. To be honest, I kind of assumed the faction leaders already had plans re: the flag situation.
  12. I too only use yellow, so no worry on that front for me. I intend to have very diverse crews, even if others cant tell You're probably right! I study a lot of North American history, so I didn't even think of Africa at first. Yeah turns out no matter which way you turn, things don't look great :/ I'm trying to divorce myself from the real history. I really dislike colonial Britain, but I prefer Corrington's description to the rest. I may have to bite the bullet and pull on my red coat when the time comes. Who knows though, I might try to set up a band of rebels who break off from Corrington politically . I'm only kidding of course, that wouldn't be in the spirit of the game.
  13. Well, historically speaking, the French were much better with native tribes that the British. It's one of the reasons that I originally thought of siding with Oleon, but we'll see how islanders/natives get integrated into the final project. PS, I dont think we should avoid it totally. No need to sanitize colonialism lol.
  14. Where is that torso from? And is it light green or brown? I'm colorblind and can't tell.
  15. I hope the rumor is true, and personally would like to see a smaller bluecoat or trade ship and buildings. That being said, I dont put much stock in rumors this early. Not that I think anyone's lying, but rumors have a way of being born out of nothing.
  16. Nice work! I like the shape, it has nice proportions. Seeing your crew, I feel like the new admiral torso could be used with dark yellow pants to approximate a Swedish soldier.
  17. This looks really great with all the minifigures. Just brings out the details. The shape is very interesting, feels really organic.
  18. Changed my vote to Corrington after reading the description. But I still would prefer to play natives, we'll see how that's included.
  19. Congratulations Kolonialbeamter! I feel like I saw this one coming.
  20. Love that second shot! Good work, really dig the old school feel.
  21. Maybe Eslandola has a little bit of German inspiration and most of the troops are mercenaries? They might be a very wealthy country but not have much manpower. The officer looks excellent, but I'm just not seeing it as a uniform for infantry privates or NCOs; it's too ornate in my opinion. Regardless, to each their own. I likely won't be building much to do with this faction anyway.
  22. Celebrating the promotion with a show of force I see
