Completely agree. I hope it sells very poorly and Lego get the message. -

Did you read the rest of my post? I'm not against new molds inherently, I'm not saying anyone is wrong for wanting a new Cody at some point or a Wat Tambor or what have you. I AM saying that measuring each year's level of output of new molds as a way to say you want new minifigs doesn't make any sense when inherently many of the updated pieces are going to continue being used for many more years, thus making them ineligible for a new mold. However I will say that Lego is inherently not an accurate medium. Things in real life are not naturally blocky. People do not look like minifigures. This is why I'm fine with Ahsoka's headpiece; I recognize that lego is an approximation of 'the real thing' not a fully accurate model. Also, what's wrong with the current Magna Guard model? It's detailed, well articulated, and fits with other droids. Making a new mold for that would seem like the epitome of change for the sake of change. -

People are complaining about a shift from ~15 a year to what seems like 5 new molds this year. In order to reach the fabled glory days of yesteryear, you would need to add ~10 minifigures to this year's lineup. That would be an absurd congestion of characters that most people don't care about. While I agree that they could add more new figures cough looking at you Grievous starfighter cough, you couldn't really add more than maybe 2 or 3 this year without it being kind of cluttered. And that's my point: If you think there were sets that could have used new molds or new figures, I'm right there with you, but counting new molds and trying to use previous years as a benchmark is silly. And as for Ahsoka, that will just be a philosophical difference. I tend to find new, barely different molds for something when an existing very close piece would suffice to be wasteful and somewhat unLego-like. I don't expect that to be a popular opinion and I don't require anyone to agree with me, but it is how I feel. -

Obviously the number of new molds will start decreasing eventually as they start running out of *viable* things to make new molds of. New molds for the sake of new molds doesn't make sense, and they're not going to start making molds for characters no one cares about. The Ahsoka and Anakin headpieces are perfectly fine in my opinion. I would have considered it pointless had they bothered to make new molds for those. -

Does anyone know if the snowtroopers coming in this AT-AT have a new print? -

Wow I just checked out clone pilots and they're so expensive now. They're $20 in NA now. Back in february I got one for $6. I should have thought to get more but I didn't need extras at the time. -

Theyre def clone war era figs, but not ones I'd expect to be completely run off the market. I was looking at phase 1 clone troopers for example, the new more realistic style, and there are none left for sale in NA where there used to be tons. Someone just put up 4 for twice their normal worth yesterday, and while I was debating buying them, someone bought all of them lol. I get that people might be building mocs, but this kind of hording is really frustrating. I don't want to have to pay absurd amounts or wait months to ship them from Europe. But in the end I only want 2-3 more so I may have to just bite the bullet. Really frustrated with myself for not buying them back when I first got a few in Feb. -

Hey guys, has anyone been noticing a run on figures lately? Figures that were easily available or relatively cheap just a few months ago have either completely disappeared from US sellers on Bricklink or hiked in price by 30-50%. Any way this is Covid related? Or is everyone just buying up whatever stock was left of these figs? -

Just saw another image of the AAT (it's the same one as before but with some photo editing to make it look clearer I think) and the thing that stuck out to me is how long the main barrel looks. It might just be perspective, but I'm going to have to mod that if it ends up being like that irl. -

Don't know if it will be angry clone or not, but the non-clone figures don't have animated style faces so it's almost certain the clone won't either. -

Sure they could make a new mold that's even more movie accurate like they have with so many other figs, but let's be honest: his hair style in that scene is 40 years old. It's a very old fashioned style, but it's decently accurate as far as Lego goes. -

I overwhelmingly haven't liked the dual molded helmets. They might be more detailed and scale to the size of the Lego minifig head better, but Lego minifig heads aren't scaled to their bodies correctly, so the helmets always look comically large. -

Man how is it possible that we have the 6x6 and 10x10 round sloped pieces (the type used on the 2009 AAT) but no 8x8 version of the same piece? I'd love to use those to create an actually nice skirt for the new AAT. -

That's swanky. I might try that once I get the new one and see what it's like under the hood. -

Out of curiosity, where are you getting the movie and 2020 model dimensions from? I've never seen any source listing the width and height of the AAT outside the blueprint I posted above. -

This is a very good point. Let's take a look at this blueprint. This thing just won't stay up on it's own if it were made accurately. The portion overhanging is longer than the entire portion that's actually on the ground, and most of what actually is on the ground is leaning back. There's very little front-loaded weight that would be able to counterbalance the rear. I think they could definitely do a better job with the skirt and maybe add a print for those missile tubes, but the overall build for the tank will always be a bit wonky. -

Not that I disagree with your overall point, but the Mace Windu and Plo Koon starfighters actually have an older build that, imo, is much worse than the current ones. I bring this up because I love Plo Koon and I have that set and I'm always sad it doesn't use the new starfighter build style over the old one lol. Some day I'll rebuild it from the ground up to match the newer style. This is me. I can swap out arms and hips to make the contrast I like, but I can't really do that with the designs. Depending on what it looks like irl, I'll decide whether I'm going to try reselling clones that don't fit the rest of my small army. -

An even better comparison is probably Saesee Tiin's starfighter from 2012 that came with Saesee Tiin, Even Piell, and an astromech for $30. Given the 8 year difference, I can see why a similar set might cost $35 today. If you take the extra fig as being ~$5 worth, the $30 price point for this new Eta-2 is fair. I'd obviously like to see it lower, but it's not crazy. -

For me it's mostly a question of size. I think the 2009 model was *far* too large, and this works well in comparison to the 2017 fighter tank, which I think is easily the best scaled version of that vehicle. I also think that the main gun turret is better shaped than the 2015 version. While I prefer the front shaping of the 2015's to this version, I have to admit it's more accurate to what we actually see in the show, which is a less complex shaping and without the forward blasters. It's certainly not perfect and I'm not really a fan of how bulbous the front "skirt" thing is, I do think it's one of the best versions we've gotten overall. It doesn't hurt that I need an Ahsoka an I'm not willing to get a CW face version. As for the clone redesign, I agree that it's all about contrast, or lack thereof. All white is too bland. -

Again, one thing to keep in mind is that people grow up. They have more agency in the toys they buy and they have more disposable income. The fact that CW sets sell well now is probably a reflection of 1) the fact that children who grew up watching the series can now buy what they want and 2) many of the Clone Wars sets were much larger and therefore more expensive than their post show iterations have been (the fighter tank and AAT for example) and 3) they've abandoned those god awful faces. If Lego were to keep the prices reasonable, I think they'd find that well built sets with minifigs that have face that fit the rest of your collection would sell just fine in the current market. -

This duel wasn't on my radar as something I'd want, but neither is the deul on exegol set people were clamoring for. I'm sure there's a market for this set, but it just isn't for me. As for that hood, totally agree. I have yet to see a figure where it looks better than the old mold. -

You can have your own opinion (and trust me, I think they make plenty of mistakes too), I just think that saying you find it insulting that some sets weren't to your liking when you admit yourself that you think 6/9 sets this wave are solid is maybe a tad excessive. Also, consider the groups you just named: PT, CW, OT, and now ST. That's four crowds, plus take into account they need to make sets for children and AFOLs. Suddenly that's 8 different audiences demanding your attention (7 if you want to say the OT is mostly just AFOLs, but 7 is still quite a few). With 9 sets a wave and 7 audiences, I'd say they're doing a decent job overall. They could always do better, but it's not a poor job. No I agree, not a lot of people care about the Grievous fighter and it is stupidly overpriced. I said that myself in my last post. But like you said, 2/3 of the sets by your own measure are solid sets. I was referring specifically to the Grievous fighter in that reply. -

Yeah, the community naturally has very different opinions on the same thing haha. I mean how often to people clamor about how we're owed a new MTT. But of course that will happen on any forum; we're not all one hivemind after all. This I basically agree with. No new figs, not a set I've seen people really wanting, and way way overpriced at that. I don't disagree with your overall point that their decisions can be confusing at times and it's surely not unquestionable, but I do think there's one very important market you're forgetting about here: teens and young adults. This is the first AT-AT in I believe 6 years. There are a lot of people out there who couldn't afford this set as kids or couldn't convince their parents to shell out over $100 for a Lego set who now might be working and making their own money. When I was in my early 20s and working my first big boy job, I bought a number of sets (or their re-releases) that my family couldn't afford when I was younger.
