Alpina B10 E34 (WIP)
TinkerBrick replied to Nike 2101's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Excellent start. I like the idea of using the small gears for the headlights. -
S@H Germany Shows them as well: 14.99€ for the L-Motor AND 24.99€ the Servo.

Technic Re-Issues - Why Not?
TinkerBrick replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Re-releases have been common in the Technics genre: Front End Loader 8459 (1997), 8464 (2001) and 8439 (2004). The same goes for the Pneumatic Crane Truck 8438 of 2003, a re-release of the 8431 (2002) and the initial issue 8460 of 1995. However, it seems to apply only to medium sized sets. In the StarWars theme we re-releases or makeovers of several set every other or third year (Millennium Falcon, X-Wing, Republic Gunship). Personally, i'd love to see a re-release of the 8275 Dozer. -
Liebherr LTM 1070 4.2 v2.0
TinkerBrick replied to Dejw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Welcome to Eurobricks and congrats for this stunning MOC. And of course the excellent presentation. -
Great video. I'm amazed. I'm starting to dislike LAs more and more over the realistic approach of pneumatics.

Really cool GBC. But the video should have a higher frame rate. It kind of makes my eyes hurt.

Nice MOC. What is inside the panel covered box on top of the carriage? Just the motor for the outriggers.

Good morning fellow builders! When i beta tested the instructions for Jurgen back in August i lacked of the listed 2nd L-Motor. Since a M-Motor has more torque than needed for extending the boom, I mounted an M-motor in the engine compartment of the upperstructure. I took some pictures with my smartphone, but never fund time to post them. Finally, here we go: Please excuse the low quality of the pics, it was late in the evening. I reinforced the mounting solution with part 2817:
-
@ CisFran You don't need a 2nd L-Motor for the Ultimate 42009. A M-motor for boom extension is enough. Although i don't know if an L-motor has the torque to move the Unimog.

Those panels covering part of the engine compartment look great.

LEGO Ride on Train
TinkerBrick replied to Burf2000's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This just made my day. I grew up playing with my grandpa's G-scale trains and loved trains ever since. Next things up would be: a pair of fake pistons with fake steering - and - you should try to layout curves with the lego flexible tracks in order to create a round track. Then you could charge the neighbourhood kids for the ride. -
My fingers start itching. I really like the limited part count. This way originality wins, not just plain size combined with the most PF parts. Having to create 3 relating models gives it a mind boggling twist. Good thing i finished my stopmotion production set for the holidays last night. My desk is empty and waiting for the technic parts to be spread.

Harbour Crane
TinkerBrick replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is really cool creation. I love that it's nearly mini fig scale. Although the proportions seem not to fit. I think it needs to be higher and the bridge longer. But i really like the lowering mechanism with the cable clutch between the rubber tires. -
Lego Technic Clones
TinkerBrick replied to imajor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The remote is ridiculous. -
@ Traktor: Using an L-Motor for lowering the outriggers is possible but not necessary res. an efficient use of PF-Parts. The M-Motor has enough power to power to outriggers. If your intension is that a L-Motor would have to power to lift the model - the limiting factor is the strength of the outriggers itself. They bent under to load of the crane to such an extend, one could fear to do some damage the the stressed parts. However, if you have an idea for reinforced outriggers ... That'd be cool.

Well, just another meaningless statement made of text modules. I would not expect them to arrive in large quantities within the next 8-10 weeks.

Generic Contest Discussion
TinkerBrick replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really like the idea of posing limitations on techniques/parts used. For example the exclude any electric powering (Power Functions, Mindstroms, 9V, 12V, 4.5V). This way the entries would be models one would actually be required to touch and to feel the forces required to propulse it. Why not have a non electric Flagship? An other set up could be to exclude the standard linear actuators or to make Pneumatics mandatory. Apart from rubberbands i would recommend to allow 3rd party flexible tubing/hosing for pneumatic functions. -
[MOD] 8258
TinkerBrick replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I like your mods. My 8258 has been Witting on its shelf for almost 1 1/2 years now. I tried to add a fifth steered axle, but couldn't aligne it. Was always a few degrees of.
