  1. Hi hmpf i am dissapointed from the ATAT. This thing looks from that angle defenitely too small. Maybe i have seen in the last two year too many UCS ATATs that i was expecting something bigger and or more detailed. I hope most of the gross impression from that ATAT comes from the unnatural pose. When ever nend ATATstheir legs in that angles (except Rufus review ;) )? I dont want to judge those prelims - really - but the past told us the prelims are very very close to the real thing. Dino
  2. Hi you are kidding, do you? This is exactly the list of OT sets i am missing. I dont have any Hoth releated yet, the last AT AT was always too expensive for me. But i am wondering a.bout the snowspeeder. In the actual Hoth sets is a snowspeeder included but never 30-40€ worth. This seem too be bigger but still far away frim any UCS. I like it too to get a B-Wing, the USC was close to system scale but slightly larger. Cantona: Woaj! if money left i will got this too. Does anybody wonder about a ISD just for 120€ seems ro be too cheap or very undetailed. Dino
  3. Hi studless parts are more versatile. They dont have a top, a bottom or correct way tomwork. Studded beams does have at least a top. Imagine angled or L beams with studs. They would not work as good as studless beams work. The last thing is that typically Technic sets and MOCsare moving in some way. For example a crane arm. If there are not tops or bottoms then their function and abilities never change while they are moving. Dino
  4. Hi there are two reasons for that, economical and practical: Itis cheaper for Leho to reduce the amount of different pieces in one set. The more different pieces there are, the more sorting and filling machines have to be there. If two bricks of one type that is already in the set will work, Lego would choose that option instead having a diffrent new piece. Second, it is just more usefull for everbody to have more butsmaller pieces. Think of the opposite: the latgest pieces, e.g. hill pieces of castle have often just a single use. Small 1x2 and 1x4 elements can be used everywhere. Dino
  5. Hi woooow - you have a huge collection of... ... 2x2 dbley bricks! ;) Dino
  6. Hi i dont know how you get the data to calvulate this, but could you do this for "Duel on Geonosis" 75017? I expect the costs per gramm to be ridiculous high. The MRSP is 50€$ but you get not much more than two figs, some walls and a column. Dino
  7. Hi thank you for starting this topic. This is exactly what i ever thought. Price per piece is nonsense or often missleading. For example the Robie House, it is NOT a parts pack - exept for dark red 1x2 plates lovers. There are over 700 tiny pieces in it. Compared to the Sidney Opera House which has many very large plates and bricks. I see the trend of sets getting more end more smaller pieces. Yes, small pieces add more details and blew up the building time but they are not a waranty for bigger sets or higher value. Dino
  8. Hi i dont mind the 10€$ privetag. The planes are 12,99€ MRSP and now, on sale while they have been half a year on the shelf they go for 7€... If that happens, a microfighter sett for 6-7€ that would be great. Unique fig and some useful parts, at least mor useful than the plant sets have been. Dino
  9. Hi no problem - Lego will of vause produce a 24 slot advent calendar with 24 exclusive Star Wars figs. This will about 199$€ or 179$€ in some stores.... An umique or exclusive SW fig adds at least 5-7$€ to the price - compared to the city calendar. Who should go for this? Dino
  10. Hi i dont think this is over scaling. Regarding the scale of the new blaster this is the only or smalles scale possible. What else is smaller that would you try to shoot except a single (round) stud? The diameter (which is big) of the blaster is just a little bigger than the stud itself, but it has to be this way. I dont think there are many smaller pieces in the Lego world than a single round plate. And none of it are more common. So this is no oversizing by design purpose this is form follows function. Dino
  11. Hi "These are the sets we are looking for..." ;) This set is the highlight for me in this winter wave. New OT figs, that have never been released! And they are great. I am sure ovwr the years these battlepacks are going to be classics like the stormtrooper BP with small dropship. It is going to be the ONLY source for the great DS gunner and the only source for the new and improved guards. Who cares that those turbolasers should have been green instead of red? There might be red lasers on the DS but those that are always connected to the gunners are green. Regarding the new blasters: I am pretty sure the Lego designers who have been involved in the development of the new blaster will laughting their megablocks of ;) Adults are complaining or being upset regarding a kids toy. Its for kids! I dont like them either but again - its for kids ;) Nice from Lego to put so many ammo with these blasters. There is an Ebay seller in Germany that disassembly and parts out every SW set. He has often an auction with 50 blasters/unique SW guns for just a couple of Euros. Nobody wants them, until now ;) Dino
  12. Hi what does the almost green, dead water logged corpse of a former spanish musketeer had to do with that set? ;) Thank you for reviewing that set so early! I like the colors but a way too much stickers.... :( Dino
  13. Hi what is the color of Grievous bikes rim? Is it transparent, chrome silver or solid silver? For me it looks transparent or dhrome silver.... Dino
  14. Hi for site admins a donate function is not as good as you think. This is totally uncontrolled money income. You dont know when, or even IF somebody donates. But you still have to pay alll the time your bills. Bills dont wait for donates... Ads will get you money on a regular base, per month, per year, whatever, bit you know WHEN to expect the money. Donations might work if the reciever is totally transparent, e.g. EB states: we have now 325€ collected this month, but still need 175€. Or, if 800€ has been donated, the 300€ is a saving for the next months, or will be donated as well, or goes into server upgrades, or goes into prices of competiones, or..... :) Dino
  15. Hi although i would like to hear their opinion about our post it is quiet obviously why they do not post here. Everything they would post will influence our future postings here. E.g. if one of them would show up to be dissapointed would you still have the bravery to post again "no, keep it free"? Be sure they are ready all our stuff ;) Maby they are going to post here to sum up "at the end" of the discussion, if everything is said, plus a "thank you for posting your opinion". This is like a survey where you do not crosspost. Dino
  16. Hi i kmow server costs for a highthrouput forum. Its nothing a company that makes money with worries about but for a couple of fans, yes thats and expensive "hobby". I am an admin myself of an >1 mio post >10k members forum, and "my" mods dont get payment either. It is "good" nobody earns money with it because then you only do things you really like to. I pesonally, even i know work of some of you is worth a couple of 10k bucks a year, would not pay. I am a child of the internet, being online since 1996. I am accustomed the internet is "for free". I you would charge "all" this forum would be dead, from one day to another. If you charge those who wants to, that might work. I know at least one "Canon" forum where people can pay for pro membership. This model works for years. There is also no big gap between members and pro members. You are not going to be "special" just because you paid for it. Ask yourself " what would be different, if e.g. Blakbird, would not pay, but a new member would pay?" Ranks should not be for sale, maybe fuctionality e.g. bigger pm mailbox, store own images, link, like your posts, other posts to FB and so on... May i ask you a question? In Germany a high power dedicated and managed server if significantly cheaper than 500€/month. If you knwo your peaks and if your forum is sleak and fast, a 100€ machine would probable work. Why the heck Lego is not paying for that. You guys with that forum bave e a HUGE HUGE marketing machine. Its hard to measure in money your value but its more, much more than those 500€/ month. Go, tell Lego you need to money, to be free, independent from shops and to keep the forum running. I would sign this letter to get you on a reliable base. Paying members might quit every month, but Lego would be diferent. Good luck! Dino
  17. Hi Jim, be proud being the reviewer of this set. In my eyes even "outstanding" did not value it correctly. This set is how Lego Technic started and what Lego Technic should be about. A very basic set ouf different usefull parts plus many ideas (ar least three different vehicles with the manuals). There are tracks, gears, different wheels, beams in every color and lengths... WOW. And the functions are obviously and simple to understand. Thats a reals Lego Technic started kit. Not one of those flagship monsters (i like them too) that needs to build 10+ hours. This is a very entertaining set!! And it is CHEAP. I really think this will be one of those all time clasics. Every Technic fan should have one - at least as parts pack. I am very courios what Blakbird will say about this set and how it compares to very old '80 sets. Jim, you did a gread reviewwith good images. So why appologise for the images right at the top of the review? People do not need to know how you did your images. If nobody worries about them - be proud, the more you have been unexperoenced in that before! Do not point people on things that are not important to the review. I like your images, there are many in a homogenius quality! Dino
  18. Hi HB stand for Hofbräu. I would suggest to turn the white 1x1 tiles in diagonal shape on the 2x4 blue plate. The bavarian flag is diagonal too. Beside this, its nice and cute ;) Dino
  19. Hi Which country? Most countries have their own amazon. I bored people thinking this is an US page just because the forum is english. Dino
  20. Hi i think we all are happy to talk about rumors. Because we hope this will come true. The more a rumor is based on validated information or has been provided by a validated source, the more it will come true. We can not track other forums how a rumor started exactly but we could keep it down here somewhat. We already have a "wishlist" topic. I like it that we are trying to keep both different things separated. I go here to read something new and i am not bored or unhappy if there is nothing new. Sometimes there are NO news, we just had to wait. I dont want to read "news" that came up in someones mind ;) Dino
  21. Hi two things: if you think your light sucks, change that. Not a 10000€ camera will get you a nice video if you have bad light. But great light (my suggestion is pretty cheap, less than 100€ if you had to get new "building site halogenes") will even work on simple and cheap cameras. Sencond thing is image stabilisation. Forget about that! Even the best lenses for many 1000€ with build in image stabilisation are perfect for images but bad when on a camera that moves. Only physical stanilisation hoves you good videos. Did you ever watched "making ofs"? Hollywood have horrible expensive steady arms for cameras but only use them for a couple of dig fight avzions scenes. Every other shot is from a tripod or from cameras on rails. Your object moves and the cam is steady. Not the other was around. Dino
  22. Hi well guys, you are starting to recommend to someone that have posted a 80buck camera a DSLR plus Adobe Premiere. He was not asking for Hollywood equipment or has the same budget. Recommending a spcific camera only makes sense if you do exactly the same as he wants to do. Why should i mention my 8000€ equipment? It simply do not fit in here. There is a german spellword that fits here very well. Literally translated it says: Do not judge the chef/cook for his pans. It does not matter what kind of equipment you have, it matters if you know to use it. MOST could do what he wants to, or could at least impress most parts of the audience. Light is SOOO important, much more than every camera is, becaus its the LIGHT that makes the picture. That is why i recommended a camera-type that can do specific things which are most important (do whitebalancing on vidoes, manual exposuresettings ....). Dino
  23. Hi dedicated video cameras in that price segment have their focus on being simple in use, not being flexible. Whitebalancing, exposuresettings and so on often just automatically set. Those cameras are "good" for action shots where af is important. I would go for a still camera that can do videos. Those cameras have often whitebalancing optiona and manual settings for exposure, aperture etc... I would go for this. Those cameras are better for "studio" settings, when you setup light, background etc. Video cameras have better performance in af and are easier to use. Still cameras with video options have better image/video quality because you can setup all/most of the important values. Go for 2-3 high power 500w halogen lamps which are used in building sites etc. They are cheap but bright as hell. 2-3 of the, reduce shadows. A still camera should be able to get the right whitebalancing. Dino
  24. Hi it was the right choice letting you to review that set. Your review let us want this set badly ;) It well organised and written plus good photography. The set itself seems to be another very good creator expert set. The colors plus the popular topic - a restaurant - should make it an icon modular over the years. Dino
  25. Hi yes, we never know if just Hasbro was the reason. I could be Legos maketing too. E.g. Lego would like parents to buy those packs for their kids, but parents often buy packs with "lots of bricks" not just figs. We are not the only target market, only the one that screams loudest :) Dino
