Hi you got a Canon 1100D kit with lens in Germany for 250€, new... So prices for used cameras should be around 200€$£... A full HD video has 2!! TWO megapixels, thats all. So even a 10 years old canon rebel aka 300D has enough with its 6mpix ;) Point and shoot is a bad idea. You might have slightly diffrent focus, exposure and whitebalancing in EVERY image. Those in a video looks horrible. Only raw shooting makes sure all images are processed the same. Dino

Hi buy a used or EOL DSLR like the Canon Rebel (or how you US guys call the low entry line from Canon), You DONT need 16mp, thats nonsense. Those DSLR always have a remote connector for manual or wireless remote shutter controllers. With a DSLR you can SEE where the focus is, this is highly important in macro imaging, because your DOF is pretty small. DSLR ever can take oictures in RAW mode, highly important if you use artificial light - which you will use. You will need that for propper whitebalancing. Forget 16mp, this is maketing stuff. phoographer dont care about this one, you will ever have enough. Dino

MOC architecture: Brooklyn Bridge 1/650 scale
Darth Dino replied to Eichhorn's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi i love the real thing too, but i have seen it many times. I like the general design but i dont the color. The real thing isnt made out of concrete. So tan and darktan would be my color of choice. While you just build it digital i shouldnt be a problem to change the "bricks". The whole "highway" (literally spoken) has a different color. Rust would discribe it at best ;) The middle line between the tracks have to be darkbrown. This is where the joggers (pedestrian) used to be. Its made of wood! Dino -
LEGO: the way to reach the equality of the sexes?
Darth Dino replied to The_Viking's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi yes, i do think so. I started Lego Technic with my 3yo son and the Excavator 8043. He is now 5yo and learned with Lego: - counting - sorting - folowing rules (the instructions!), even they dont actualy makes sense to him - reading 2d instructions - building in 2d - reading 3d instructions - building in 3d and many more, not even start to mention what gears are for and differentials.... He build EVERY step of the 8043 alone, except those parts where you need the strength of and teenager or adult. Dino -
LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Darth Dino replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi so what? Half of the things you will get in touch with during your life is mad in China! This has nothing to do with any difference in quality. Just about that e.g. hand painted headpiece are cheaper to produce there. LEGO is producing there and THEY take care anout the quality. Nevertheless we already have a topic where CHINA!! made parts are being discussed. Dino -
Hi compared to other themes Technic sets do not grow in value as Star Wars or Modulars. 41999 is an exception (its sold for 450€ in Germany) but this set IS exceptional. I am sure you wil never see the famous excavator being sold MISB for 400€... People pay high prices for the sets being rare, exclusive not being a great set! Thats why the Cloud City set of the SW theme is so wanted, nobody has bought it when it was on shelves.... I recommend to open all your Technic sets and play with id you like to. If you store the box and the manuals, you can sell the sets after years for a very good price if its still complete. Even used excavators goes higher than mrsp, used 41999 goes doubble mrsp... What else could somebody want? Have fun AND dont lose money ;) Dino

Fixing loose clutching bricks
Darth Dino replied to super curry max's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi well, high engery light like UV (the shorter the wavelength, the more energy) does mot reflect good, because it will be absorbed by many surfaces. E.g. UV will be nearly 100% absorbed by any plasic, even transparent plastikxs like "Plexiglas" (acrylic glass). Thats why plastic sunglasses are much better than those with glasses made of glas. If the sun does not direct hit your Legos, then i dont expect much damage from that side. Dino- 42 replies

Fixing loose clutching bricks
Darth Dino replied to super curry max's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi this depends on how the bricks are aging. Lets say, if you keep it assembeled but lightproove (no UV light) they last for decades. I recently dissambeled old '80s Classic Space sets, many of them aged and yellowed from the light. But i did not find any lose parts, only some of the handles/small antenna pieses lost their power to hold the antenna/handle straight. Most of the bricka and plates had to be disaasmbeled with a brick separator... Dino- 42 replies

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Darth Dino replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi i had to solve the same issue you have. I bought the precessor 6209. I recommend this to you as well, and NOT because it might be cheaper. Just look at the colors! The S1 is a worn out ship made of metal. The paint has never be so intense as it is with the 8097. Basically both are the same ship with almost similar build, except the area where the paddle goes into the ship. I personally dont like that big round parts much. But i like the sandgreen, its the idea color for a S1. Just have a look at Anio's UCS S1... Regading the figs: I keep the old (but new) one and bought an actual Bobba from the Desert Skiff. I got a Han in Carbonite thos way as well. A MISB 6209, Boba and Han cost me total about 80€ includig shipment. A 8097 cost here about 100€ MISB, but is still have the intense green and red which dont fit to the S1 (my opinion). Dino -
Hi first of all, thanks for coming back on-topic with something "new". I think our "topic-nanny" Brickdoctor is pretty bored about some peoples behaviour ;) You did for second a great job on the images, Now i can see the cantine a basically a 20x20 square building that can be opened by hinges and contains of 3 parts: the 10x10 room where the droids sipposed to hide. the 20x10 "hanshootsfirst lounge" and the 10 wide entrance "wall" on the very left with bar-table. I dont think the colors of the THREE musicians differ. This would be a real surprise if Lego gives us three of them at the same time, I see too standing someone with "dark-tan" head or faceprinting behind the bar standing. DoesLego count the Dewback as Minifigure? Then there are mor than 8: Luke, Han, Obi, a Sandtrooper, the Dewback, three Bith, a barman. At least this set willnot include any Chewie or Greedo. Dino

do people actually buy huge collections?
Darth Dino replied to Bobskink's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hi dont stick on my 300€ there where just for explantations. 5€ for one fig like a Stormtrooper is ok, in large numbers often 3-4€. Everything Hoth related i would sell when the summer wave come out with Snowspeeder and AT AT. I would sell the Dewback NOW because a new one will come out soon. Dino -
do people actually buy huge collections?
Darth Dino replied to Bobskink's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hi the ONLY kind of person buying that in bulk are resellers or collectors that resell to get money for their hobby. For example many SW fans like to have so much (or even more) stormtroopers. But what if they have like me already some of the the polybag figs? If i would get your stuff for 300€' i would resell most of it for 300 as well to have the stormtroopers for free ;) You could sell your figs in lots but only figs that belongs together or are the same. Dont sell the polybag figs togehter.EberThing i have seen on ebay is a lost if collectors are selling most of the rare polybag figs togehter. The more figs you sell togehter, the more the 5€per fig rule is valid. Thats the avarage price of OT figs at ebay germany. You will get your local prices by looking at ebay for ended!!! auctions. Those advices will cost you five or your stormtroopers, i will let you know where to ship them :D Dino -
2014 Fox 8x8x8
Darth Dino replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi wow this thing is just awsome! I know you are a sucker for those tires but this THING proves why! There is only one disadvantage: It is long. I does not mean it longer than other 8x8, but it is still long. Since your excellent design does not need a straight drivetrain through the cassis - did you ever thought about a hinge in the center of your THING? I dont mean left right, i mean top bottom flexibility to follow the terrain better. I think this would increse the performance if you start climbing hills from zero to 100 degree. Dino -
Hi you will needa lot of greens/plant parts. You should go for a Lego store, many german stors (plus the one in Vienna) have actually plant parts in their PAB wall. Dino

Gladly the put a Spock as well on the cover ;) Your shuttle looks great, its a pitty its not minifig scale/compatible. Looks much better than some lager minifig scale lambdas. Dino -
Discussion LEGO Architecture Building Issues
Darth Dino replied to Vee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi the pattern of 1x1 tiles i uneven because those tiles are a bit too small and have a tiny gap. between them This gap is the space where they often rotate. You can fill the gap with a razor blade or cutter blade. The blade keeps them all in a line. Be careful with your finger and dont cut the bricks too! Dino -
[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
Darth Dino replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi congratulation being frontpaged! Is there a way to convert the LDD file losless into some mor common in the 3D world like DXF or 3DS? Those professional 3D construction programs and renderers are using multi core and kulti processors pkus all available of RAM. Dino -
This is how you showcase a Super Star Destroyer
Darth Dino replied to Brickmasta's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi well at least no one can see the understide :D I would suggest to hang this upside down. Then, do a painting of the DS IIs surface under it. So you will recreate the famouse SSD DSII crash scene ;) Dino- 9 replies

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
Darth Dino replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi impressive! At least you have shown that you can archieve the studio models detail level (except color, painting) with Lego, but, with a larger scale. I would too suggest to stick on Anios suggestion to contact Legos marketing management. To get the money by selling the instructions or LDD would mean to sell is by hundreds or thousands. Do YOU expect there are so many AFOLs out there that are willing to build and pay for this model? I dont think so. I would LOVE to see a good render of this ship, with background, shading, dust, glare, engine blast and ..... You would probable sell more of zhose images/posters, than LDDs. Dino -
Hi i hope its not you in the video, because i dont like this. There are NO news at all, just a setlist that we have seen a week ago. Why everybody needs to have a video where even a ASCI text list would work? Regarding TC-4: thanks for "confirming" its dark red. Would look great! Dino
-
Hi since i know who TC-4 was (did not remember him) i am keen to get him. I was not able for me to know him since he has been cut from the movie! He never existed in the SW movie universe. Regarding Wookieepedia he has been a personal droid to Senator Palpatine. Do you think he is red or dark red? Dino

Flying Lego Plane
Darth Dino replied to mikezang's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi if still someone thinks this is for real - you have not read and or understand Blakbirds post. Regarding photo ediing (i hate calling this photoshopping because you can do this with many programs): Even with a high resolution camera and a very good lens at perfect focus point it is hard to see in the final image a thin Nylon string, fishing line. It is just a pixel or something wide in the final high resolution image. If you clone the neighbour pixels over the string carefully AND reduce the resolution down like this image, you will never see it. Dino
