42056 - Porsche Speculation
1974 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The first thing I did when I had finished building 8860/8875/8880 was to push the car down to check the suspension (which was followed with lots of "ohh, ahh, wauw, how cool is that dad!?") and THEN put it into gear and go racing on the floor I know the Porsche has the right parts for suspension, but if it only has one stud of travel, the inherent slack in LEGO parts would suffice without all those fancy parts, imho But maybe Anio is dissapointed with the bag as it cannot hold a few beers, I mean tools No such thing as a 1x1 liftarm, do you mean the 18654 pin connector? Cheers, Ole -

Does the suspension actually work? Or is it mostly just for show like the fake calipers. They didn't show that in those two Autobild reviews -
Such a tiny set is incredible to you? You could really blow your mind if you looked at Classic Castle sets then What would indeed have been incredible would be if TLG brought back the old grey (I know, not gonna happen EVER) For those of us that have hundreds of CC figs/sets, this offering from TLG will do zip. But if you're looking for a bunch of guards to defend your 10223, it's great But CC it's definitely NOT! Also, I hope the shield has the same printing as the old ones (no new yellow crap, please) so they will actually fit with the old ones. The torso wont, as it's 'new red' (<-- different from what was used in CC back then) Hmm, TLG is actually making a mess here. People trying to build/collect/sell proper CC now has to sort out these parts if they want to make/have/sell actual CC sets with the correct era parts (and YES that does matter a lot to many of us. I'd be pissed to buy a 6080 full of those torsos) Cheers, Ole (Edit, darn spelling errors + more words)

Coffeetable book -
Not sure what the point is with a 15 minutte video? Why don't you just post a pic with the actual crossing signal attached to rail track (perhaps with a train) so we can get an idea of how it will look in a proper rail inviroment? Much simpler btw Cheers, Ole

It can mean two things : The sets are not selling and Amazon wants to clear remaining stock - or TLG knows they're not selling and wil sell to Amazon with a further discount (to clear TLG stock) Both options are crap for LEGO train lovers No, but at one time they did have as much as 19.000 different suppliers. Electric parts have never been an in-house TLG thing. They also recently bought back Modulex to shut up some distant Kirk cousin

I'm pretty sure that Sariel and Jim don't look like this : So yeah, they're not actual Technic guys TLG sends out a lot of sets in advance to reviewers. Some come with an embargo (don't publish until xx date) some don't - or the reviewers don't care (and if they don't, they won't get another set to review .. or TLG don't also care .. )) Hold your horses, we'll all know just how poor this set in a week Cheers, Ole -
Now, don't get your knickers in a twist - they're custom, not TLG parts Cheers, Ole

Where can you buy trans-yellow windscreens/windows?
1974 replied to Columbus019's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
So, I got some of those x207 panels windows. Very nice quality, but also a VERY tight fit! They're more orange than orignal LEGO trans-yellow, so I probably would not use them for normal windows. I'd love some x207 in trans-green also (Edit, the windows are x207, the panels are 30288) Cheers, Ole -
The wonderfull trans-dark blue 4737 "4 x 4 x 6 Corner Convex Ribbed" panels have now travelled back to Denmark, across the Atlantic Ocean, to rest for good only a 100km from where they were molded in the mid 80's. Can't wait to make something awesome with them! Cheers, Ole

It can be very hard to find NEW trans-yellow CS parts on BL but you can get lucky if look for the old Service Packs. Right now you can get a brand new 4228 inverted slope in a 5190 set for only 10EUR There's a shop on BL that does replica windows (some with cool etching). I've been told the quality is quite good. Now, I'm not much for using non-LEGO parts but he has an x207 (that was only released in trans-dark blue/red allthough I own a clear-trans version myself) and I'm definitely going to get some of those http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=GFG Cheers, Ole -

It has a huge coffeetable book, that makes it ULTIMATE! -
He did not know. He picked it up because it was "the wierdest part among all those prototypes and I thought it might make a good conversation piece" .. he got that right for sure That little spaceship is now on it's longest journey ever .. 6400km (almost 4000 miles for you yanks) Cheers, Ole You'd love to see (and own) any and every LEGO brick marbled! Haha .. Don't have any, but I'll let you know if/when I get some

Man up and cut the pegs off, Walther They're kinda useless with those pegs unless you're into CS/Belville crossover MOCs I wonder why TLG made those in trans-red? Those Belville parts never crossed over into any System sets .. Cheers, Ole

You're not paying for that. You are in fact paying for a 100EUR fancy coffee table book, a (what TLG calls it) a fancy box (still crap compared to what they did in the 80's), a very expensive license and a so-called 'authentic design' which we all know by now is just pure bull 'Cept for the new way of changing gears, this set has NOTHING new. They could at least have made some new parts os there's no cheap megablocks rubber bands right in your bleedin' face! Disregarding the new parts, it looks like a poor MOC made ages ago, sorry I really think TLG should have put those 3k parts into a CREATOR set that actually would have looked like the real thing (think F40 but with 3k parts). This set is going on AFOL shelves anyway, so who cares about a fancy gearbox and a book? No HOG means no play value, so TLG did indeed think about that The Technic UCS is actually the BWE, but no coffee table book, fancy box and plague, it's a whole lot damd cheaper to boot I told you folks you would get dissappointed by the Porsche, but you wouldn't listen Cheers, Ole -
There is this "secret" one : Just flip it upside down
-
You should check his MOCpages/Brickshelf, then There's a Blacktron II MOC that's even more crazy! And some very nice monorail sets to boot. Oh, and that killer (litteraly) Technic truck .. A talented man he is Cheers, Ole

I grew up in the early 70's/80's and you're way off There's was NO colour issues, theres was NO cracking and there was NO crappy stickers either. Yup, the finger hinges and the Technic tooth parts did behave badly if you abused them. If you didn't, no problem. I have at least 300 castle pieces, never bent any. Never heard of it either. Try searching LUGnet (that goes back to pre 2K) for any reports of bending castle panels. I find none Print quality have not improved. It's getting more advanced yes, but it has not improved. Show me otherwise please Never ever seen parts with colour problems out of the box, nor have I heard of them (80's sets), but yup, there's been a massive problem due to the flame reatardents TLG used. They fazed them out, all was good and then they turned to cheap megablocks colourless pellets with diy injection. All is all crap now While I do not buy modern sets for myself, I have bought at least 200 SW/Ninjago/Chima/Nexo sets for my son and it's appalling to see the colour inconsistencies in just about every set. The last set I bought for myself was the 42009 and that had at least four different shades of yellow (not to mention being a very poorly designed set with overstressed motors/gears) Only the best is actually good enough for me. Not the "best" with loads of bells and whistles to distract me from the fact that the basic quality is rather poor Each to their own, I guess :) Now back to trains .. As I've written earlier, I know of no new (normal) trains for 2016 and to make it worse I've not heard if any new trains for 2017 either

Fail! Needs more optic fibers Nah, mighty fine work G .. Love the corrugated back wings, hate the front batman wings, the SP3 booster fire and that pointy soft nose. Needs more 4858p01! (And 2345p44) Good use of the new trans yellow canopies And THANK YOU for putting the yellow into BL1. Most MOC'ers seem to forget about that Cheers, Ole

Certainly none of the current crap from TLG. But what rock have you been living under for the last 7 years or so? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30439&st=0 http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/22448/quality-issues-broken-parts/p1 Loads of pics in those threads. I have many sets from that era, quite a bit bought MISB and about 250.000 spare bricks that was made before the year 2000. NONE of them have ANY of the issues complained about today So yeah, the quality of the sets from back then is much better. You may not like the designs or functions, but that is another thing Cheers, Ole
