And that's what I want to build too! But while I may have the coolest slope, I only have ONE. Pretty hard to do anything mansard type of roof with that It annoys me a great deal that TLG never finishes of a theme of parts in a particular colour TLG have produced a boatload of crap parts that was never used in more than one set, but basic parts like this don't seem to see the day So much for "SYSTEM", eh? ... (I'll bet a particular guy is rolling in his grave (and it could be both from grief and amazement of the AFOL culture and/or "TLG")) I WANT my missing slopes, darn it! Cheers, Ole
-
Pretty sure that TLG have made ALL the slopes we crave for, but somehow decided not to use them in any sets at ALL. (But the LEGOland builders get what they want) Why? We'll never know Such is the inner workings of TLG. Mysterious and unpredictable Mere peasants like me my finding nuggets in the dirt, thus to much excitement in the community, but none of it compares to the joy of picking up a 1986 CS set in .. 1986 Cheers, Ole

Thats is gliding, not flying (and TLG never made any elastics bands worth doing that anyway) Flying means you can control the aircraft. Not possible with the current batch of PF parts. Many have tried, all have failed Prove me wrong and I'll eat that darn brick, ABS or wheat!

What would be considered a "large" LEGO collection?
1974 replied to Brikkyy13's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have about a quarter of a million bricks, which is not that unusual. What is unusual is that I only have parts in old colours (black, white, red, blue, green, yellow, brown and the two old greys (and of course trans clear/yellow/red/green and blue)) as I have no use for modern colours at all 'Cept tan. I love tan Cheers, Ole- 36 replies

Sounds great as I once promised to eat a 2x4 brick if anyone ever made an actual flying LEGO plane using _only_ LEGO parts

Well, we're just strangers on the internet, I know, but everything my source have told me so far checks out. I have quite a few more interesting tidbits in the near future, but I have to make sure it's okay for public display I know TLG has "the Vault", but I'm not sure record keeping of such old projects are regarded in the same vein? I know Mark Stafford/Nabii is a keen LEGO archaeologist so perhaps he knows something .. Cheers, Ole

General Part Discussion

That is correct. BL sellers are dumping them due to the new pneumatic rams. Same thing is happening with white pulleys (4185), they used to be really expensive but due to that RC tracked thingy they're cheap now. Too bad I paid out the nose for a bunch of those last year But such is the BL game Cheers, Ole- 5,507 replies

I have a wee bit more information. The information comes from an old LEGO designer who saw this sometime in the late 90's "Yes, that Tintin series would have worked well with that movie that came out a few years ago (the Spielberg one), but it probably got cancelled due to legal problems" (Hence my note on how notoriously difficult the Hergé Foundation is to work with) "I remember seeing a large cardboard cutout with images of several Tintin LEGO models. There were two different moon rockets, one large (50cm) and a smaller one (20cm). There was also an image of the shark submarine. Also pictures of several different minifigs ; Tintin, Haddock, Dupont/Dupond (The Thompsons) and the professor" (I've asked if they had normal minfig heads/parts, but he does not remember) "I remember asking other colleagues if they knew anything else, but nobody knew. Back then we're were divided into teams and I honestly didn't know much about what went on outside my own area. The Tintin stuff was placed in a sort of no-mans-land that you just sorta passed through at work. so I have no further information, sadly" (Also, this was pre phones with cameras and it was most definitely NOT allowed to snap pics while working at TLG, as I've been told. TLG got in some pretty deep trouble when some employees leaked stuff from Star Wars Episode 1 well before the movie was launched .. but that's another story for another rainy day) Cheers, Ole

General Part Discussion
1974 replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's bull Eric, and you know it. You can just cut up any suspicios part and find the true colour underneath, if it has been dyed Yes, I've left EB but someone summoned me and thus I seem to be back ;) As a general rule, if the part was made before the year 2000, it's most likely legit. That is both odd coloured parts and parts never released The parts I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole are any modern LEGO minifigs made in the last 5-10 years (especially if it's an IP minifig) and any sort of liftarm. Those are now being highly copied and quite difficult to spot, due to lack of "LEGO" printing and the poor quality of TLG parts in general Not fun to be a Technic fan these days,is it? Liftarms are much cheaper to make than bricks, TLG knows that (and have known for well at least +20 years) .. and now the cloners know that too ;) It's also gonna mess up Bricklink and every other LEGO selling venue Good thing I have all the LEGO I need :) Good luck to you, Gents Cheers, Ole- 5,507 replies

Hi EB Most you know me as "1974", the poster of random crap, never any MOCs, some insightfull information of TLG's history, sneaky leaks, and loads of pics of "secret" parts (and those pics I will keep up - If I mess up, contact me please) Now, my life have come to a turning point (yes, kids+wfie, boring shit like that), so it's time to say goodbye If you need to get in touch, send me a pm And YES, LEGO is always going to be a major part of me, my offspring, and my wife's life - don't worry - pic attached for proof Cheers to all of You! I'd kill to be able to trade in the Future. Are you thinking about hooking up with mpfirnhaber in 2019? I'll be right there in either LA, or if I get the money, in the Off-world colonies ... Yeah, I do know what a turtle is Over and out Ole/1974

Red is easier to check out visually (perhaps also under a microscope?). Don't think it's just a fan theory as I've heard it from people working with actual plastic molding production. Did'nt an actual TLG mold engineer chime in about this subject in one of the many "prototype parts" discussion here? I think he goes by the name "Front" .. something" Since you probably do not know the actual history of your parts, a bunch of them could easily just have been made for mdelmakers .. or just chucked in basket for future release (happened a lot more often pre 2k I've been told) Yes, there's a lot of ordinary parts out there in "off" colours but the majority are quite old parts. Which suits me perfectly
-
I suspect red is only used to try out a new mold or check a mold for faults. All the red parts you've shown are common production parts I have many prototype parts, that is parts that never were released in any set. None of them are red (I actually only have one single red part among my collection and that's a red parka with a white fur edge so, not a "mold checker") Cheers, Ole A bit odd thay the camera shooter was never released in blue back then when just about eveyro ther CS part came in blue. Nice loot you got there
-
TLG have never printed over multiple parts, afaik. But given the size of the numbers the blue bricks might might have been printed for the larger scale models in LEGOland? Certainly looks very official
-
Dear mpfirnhaber & whitswj I'm sorry, but you've both been duped. Green/brown parts have NO place in the LEGO CS universe. Please send to me so I can dispose of them correctly Yours truly, Ole

I have never hoped for stickers on a part as much as this!
1974 replied to whitswj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
TLG used to print on a lot windshields/windscreens : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=579 But now that's pretty rare, and mostly only seen in SW sets Which is a bit sad. But this new trans-yellow part (which I do believe is completely new?) is going to get a LOT of CS MOC'ers all fired up!! (Me included fer sure) I expect this part to land at around 2EUR a few months after the set comes out (just like 13262). Perhaps even sooner/cheaper as those minifigs are quite interesting for BL'ers that part out sets Cheers, Ole -

1974 replied to whitswj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's NOT printed, blow up the pic and you can easily see it. Yes, we're gonna buy loads of these of BL No, OP is talking about a specific part, not the actual set. There's a thread for the sets in the right forum Cheers, Ole -
It's also in dark grey in that dwarf's mine prototype set And here's the trans-red one : I haven't been able to find any
-
I know it's been linked here on EB at least once, so perhaps a search will do? It was/is a rather grand website diveded into chapters with a MOC for each one Pretty damn cool Cheers, Ole

Tintin was a ready made theme due to release. There was figs (normal minifigs or ? - don't know), sets and commercial stuff - ready to go Source : I know someone who saw it all (but pics was not allowed back then) Why did it not get released ? : This was pre 2K, before TLG really ventured into IP. Also the Hergé Foundation (who manages "Tintin" after Georges Remi died) are very difficult to deal with Monty Python : This was talked about after that short movie (hearsay, not something I know directly, sorry). Many special parts was used, but NOT made for that movie (they we're actually allready in TLG's stock - but never released) I know they sold of a lot from their BL shop after the movie. Don't have any first hand knowledge but I know MP didn't like to have their art commercialized. Also, it would be way too risky for TLG to go into that as their first IP The maze/club is from that movie (and TLG's never released stock) (That's all I know for know but, yes, I _am_ drilling my source about Tintin!!) Cheers, Ole That's not actually the whole video. It's much longer and was included in one of the MP DVDs

Well, I thought it was interesting, being so close to the first SW film (and also interesting enough to get posted on reddit -Whoha, I'm famous!) When I put the pics together I showed them to my seven year old son (who has been watching SW films for +4 years) and he could instantly pick out all the individual characters in a splt second, so I think this young MOC'er did real good It's just about as good as that japanese (?) guy who did all the original episodes together with 80's parts .. I lost the link - anybody have it? I'd like it, please Cheers, Ole
-
Mind blown. Is this a sign of the apocalypse? Or we just we just witnessing the economic deathspiral of Mr. Dower? Or have he finally seen the light? Will he kill BL with all his precious eBay parts? What's next? Do I need to take shelter? Scared I am, need some Playmobil to comfort me .. All fun, but you did miss that 1EUR metalhook months ago, mate Cheers, Ole Edit : Sorry, I didn't see bonox's reply Richard : Contact me privatly and I'll send the controller and map to you for free (that is if you live in the UK, not if you're spacing out on the ISS) Yes, I'm serious ;)
