Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Stuartn replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That could probably work, though the scale of the gunship is often determined by a few parts such as the turret and cockpit canopies, reverting to the window arrangement in the 2008 ship could assist, as could tightening up the top of the ship, and as you said, doing a CW version, including a Jedi and perhaps two clones and a named clone or clone commander would be an ideal amount of figures, provided they do not abrogate the inclusion of two battle droids, perhaps P2 Cody, one or two Airborne troopers, and a regular P2 pilot would work. Though such a set would be close to impossible to procure! It would be great if TLG created their own pilot in teh style of whatever other figures are included, as they don't mind creating their own pilots or figures for canonical sets, like the conveyex pilot, kashyyyk battle droids and P2 clone gunner -

I think they could be done, the 2016 versions were actually quite good but bizarrely unfinished (open backed or not enough generator sections), and with better integration into the main build, potentially sacrificing a feature like the tauntaun pen, one turret or wampa cave for more parts Similarly I want the old snowtroopers back too, the action battle set versions were horrendous, the printing was okay, but no backpack or kama -

Great work, I really like all of those trees, the landing platform is integrated really well into the vegetated area -

I believe it isn’t impossible to ever get Jabbas palace, however I would doubt it would come out this year due to the cantina having come out last year, and I would feel like these two buildings would be too architecturally similar. The barge as a UCS could work with out a Leia figure because, as we have established, UCS sets are not about the figures -

I’ve always hoped an Endor MBS would place less emphasis on the bunker, it being the same scale as the play set version from ‘09, just more detailed, as it could easily incorporate all the necessary rooms at that size, then having a U shaped forest assembly projecting from either side of the bunker build in which the catapult and log traps can be implanted, and including three or four large-ish trees, as well as an AT ST and several speeders -

While I would be quite certain it’s a ROTJ set, and it is most likely (and hopefully) the Endor bunker, there is a slight possibility it could be the Home One bridge, or less of a possibility Jabbas palace, or even the Death Star duel area TLG is obsessed with, so I’m not completely confident, albeit hopeful, it’s the endor bunker. -

Is there any official indication of when the UCS At At will be revealed, also, how do you stop getting notifications of replies, I accidentally pressed the button and every time I go to turn it off it won’t work -

I want this set to succeed too, in many ways I don’t understand the controversy it has caused, in fact has there even been a criticism of the actual build yet beside the turrets and lack of netting? I feel like the fan vote has doomed this set to ridicule and controversy when otherwise it would have just been a normal set with debatable but otherwise unimportant figures. And another question about the gunship, how well would the Yoda figure scale with the gunship, since he is way too large in minifigure form -

However, it is unfair for TLG to ask fans to spend almost $600 to get more other sets that could cost half as much or even more, I wonder how much PT fans actually want UCS sets as opposed to more usable system sets which can be Mocced with and include figures -

many consumers will be Star Wars fans who are LEGO fans through Star Wars, or LEGO collectors who aren’t fussed about the actual set, as well as what is probably a majority of LEGO Star Wars fans who want a display piece or a set of their favourite vehicle, not more impassioned fans who care about which two figures will or won’t be included. I did accidentally leave out the word probably and I should have stressed LEGO Star Wars fans (fans who like Star Wars through LEGO) rather than just LEGO fans so I didn’t mean to sound like I was making an absolute fact. -

I think that the SW designers recognise the difference between a pilot and commander, as they’re statement is about the way consumers perceive the characters as the same, not that they are actually the same as Mandr put it (his truthful tweet about LEGO thinking they put a pilot and Cody in the gunship made me laugh though!). I think the designers would understand Star Wars, but the issue does exist and I would assume it is more linked to marketing departments and Lucasfilm. The main consumers will be either non-LEGO or non-SW fans who want the set for being a fan of one franchise, so the issues with figures will be less apparent. -

While that is true, and personally I don't really expect, nor am phased by the lack thereof, new or exciting figures, almost every UCS set over the last ten years has included a new and much upgraded variant of a figure, and normally they are the pilot of the vehicle, even when they are not necessarily the most iconically related to the vehicle, such as a brand new technician and officer in the ISD, over Vader or Admiral Piett, gunner and pilot in the snowspeeder, over Luke and Dak, and R2 BHD in the Y wing, instead of, well, anyone. For about eight consistent years now the figures have always been included and are generally the pilots, and since every other UCS set, even much cheaper ones have gone to the effort to include very good quality figures, it seems valid for criticisms to be directed at the figure selection in this much more expensive set. As much as I'd appreciate a new mould I completely agree I wouldn't want it locked behind an expensive set. To be honest, I am unsure why there is any complaint over these figures, as it has been made clear they aren't teh sole factor of a UCS set, and they aren't that bad anyway. -

I recall the designer said in a brick set interview they only built parts of the Nebulon to see if they were structurally possible, but didn’t start any other builds -

I was expecting that too, its $230 more than the US price, which is $120 dollars more than the conversion rate, even with GST factored in that's about AU$90 extra we'd have to pay! -

Oh what a horrible set, no P2 Cody, why would TLG leave out the character that is the most critical to Star Wars and who is so iconically interconnected with the Gunship? And the scale, how can I put minifigures in this, which is the utmost important purpose of a UCS set? And the amount of studs, honestly, doesn’t TLG realise that LEGO is not about having studs? And where are all the clones, every other set has way more figures? For this insane price I want better and the Disney tax has struck again! Just thought I would help out all The bingo players. I completely agree with @kidtheboss611 that regardless of a vote a P1 pilot would have made a lot of sense, and since they aren’t really massable or as in demand as other figures resell prices shouldn’t be as bad, though it’s far from a dealbreaker for me. Though that said, if P2 Cody was wanted, then it wouldn’t e a stretch to assume Mace Windu or Ponds were wanted as well as they are associated to the same degree as the gunship. On another note, I would’ve preferred the net pieces in the ceiling if the troop bay instead of the railing pieces in the set, but other than that the set itself looks spectacular. If I can find this on sale I would definitely consider this set, I say on sale as the vehicle doesn’t interest me that much but the set is spectacular and I would be buying it for the build. There are a lot of stickers in the build, and a lot of studs, but while it won’t be for everyone I think the balance is about right. -

I think you’re spot on, however I could see some dark orange terrain around the display stand like the Probe Droid, and I think that would enhance the build when displayed. I would actually like to see orange text on the display stand if such style continued for all PT UCS sets, since there hasn’t been a PT UCS set with a plaque besides General Grievous, as it would be a nice way of differentiating PT UCS sets from OT and ST ( if they ever occur) ones. -

A MF could easily be released in a scaled down version next year, if the 1HY wave follows the pattern of 2021, and we get one large ship and two small starfighters, for a example MF, Y-wing and TIE advanced could work well, I agree detail doesn't necessarily need to be sacrificed for the set to work at a cheaper price, in fact it would be hard to reduce the scale without also reducing the cockpit size, and at a scale smaller than 6-wide either the size of the craft (and hence its functionality) or the proportions would have to be sacrificed, hence I would assume any parts reduction would be from less figures, less interior detail and also exterior details, which could be easily fixable.
