LEGO Monkie Kid 2022
a guy from somewhere replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Some auxiliary Info from brick clicker: it’s 160 USD so maybe £140? Im not sold on that price, and there are 4 more sets yet to be revealed. Excited to see what they bring, but also disappointed with the price of the mech and the fact that if the wave is only 5 sets, we’re probably not gonna get another container vehicle till summer at least, and that’s with the drone copter and TEA still on the market. -

Bricks by mind described it best, it’s like the destiny’s bounty for Ninjago. I can see the monkey mech being upgraded every 3 years until we get something like the tech wizard showdown from nexo knights, a mech inside a mech. Or that giant hunk of junk Lego just released yesterday….. anyways I feel like monkey mechs are gonna sorta be a staple now, although they set the bar incredibly high with the first mech. It’s a shame it’s out of stock now, I was going back and fourth in getting it. I will not let my indecisiveness let me down, although I’m hoping we get a look at the new stuff soon. What was the time gap between the galactic explorer and the rest of the wave being revealed this year? -

Yes, the demons of camel ridge. I'm going to need to do some research.... I'm gonna try and finish journey to the west before Christmas, I slowed down a couple of months ago and need to pick it back up. Wonder what else we could get as sets in this wave. I'm personally hoping for some sort of large mountain temple. -

Yes, I believe that is him, maybe the MK Tang has taken the role, or maybe he has returned from the book? We know MK takes place thousands or years after journey to the west, so if that the original Tang, that could be interesting. I suspect there could be some funny moments in the show with 2 Tangs interacting. Hopefully we get high quality pictures soon. -

Another picture has come out, some what official. There’s a jet/vehicle in the background that looks to be made up of parts of the mech, which is pretty cool. Also good to see the mech itself won’t suffer too much damage when it’s taken apart -

Well, the new set has been revealed! No containers sadly, but definitely impressive! Looks more like a MOC than a set, looks like we get MK, sun Wukon and tang, who all have new prints. Liking the exo-armour look, and tang has the original monk gear on from the journey to the west book from the looks of it. The mech itself feels kind of all over the place, I’m sure once we get better pictures I’ll come around to it but at the moment it looks too messy and overbuilt. I like the wrist mounted blades, and the new staff for the king. Head looks weird, almost like a rabbit with the tassels behind it, and I’m not sure if I like the cloud vinyl elements mounted on the back. Villains look pretty damn interesting, can anyone who is familiar with the JTTW book identity them? Or are they new characters? Either way I like them! This new wave seems to be really interesting. I wonder what the price of it is, if it’s the same as the current Monkie mech I may just get the old one over this one. Does anyone know if the set will be put up on Lego.com soon do we can see better images? In another note, it looks like Tang, Mei and MK all make a cameo in the Chinese New Year float set, I can see Mei on one of the floats, tang standing next to it and Mk at the back holding a lantern. Hopefully it’s the regular version of Tang as He needs to come in more sets with his robes. The new mech has him but in new robes. Speaking of which, anyone got any ideas for a custom purist Mr Tang? -

Does anyone own the dronecopter and is willing to provide pictures of what it looks like with out the landing legs? I’m curious about what it looks like as I like it’s look in the show but the set version feels underwhelming, and I’m not a fan of the spindly legs under it. Maybe I can mod it to have the supports under the wings. Does anyone have any recommendations for the larger monkie kid sets currently available? Drone copter is on my radar along with the city of lanterns and TEA truck, but I’d like to know what general thoughts on the other sets are. I’d like to get tang and macaque, sadly they don’t come in a set together. I own the bone demon and Team HQ, and the heavenly realms doesn’t really interest me. I know FFM is highly recommend but Im half and half on it. I’m hoping the set that’s revealed at the Chinese expo tomorrow peaks my interest, maybe something container related as I love the concept, the team HQ did it really well. Hopefully some sets go on sale for Black Friday. -

The deep sea Japanese submarine, its name escapes me. And I agree, the sub seems way to big and open to work as the in universe ship, and it also seems way too small at that price point, with a lot of parts put to the deep sea terrain to meet the £50 price point. Should have been £40 at least. I really think the crab suit would have made a way better model at the price point, possibly with the same side build. Given its prominence in the trailer (which looks amazing) I'm surprised we dont have a dedicated set and instead its lumped in as an undersized unnecessary side build in the biggest set, as it seems to be TWOWs equivalent to the Samson, given that it shows up on the mother ship vehicle (sea dragon? Awesome ), underwater in a reef fight (2 of them) and on a wall or outrigger of whatever the tulkin whale is jumping over at the end (my theory is its Bridgehead, the yet to be officially revealed human city on pandora). I love the in universe sub, but am pretty disappointed in its execution. I really think we should have gotten a smaller version of the MAKO in the tulkin set, and then an in scale version of the crab suit. Hence, I'm building my own version that is bigger and more in scale. Theres a small yellow handle at the back of the MAKO that I'm hoping opens a hatch or something for storage and thus it isn't wasted space but there is a yellow handle on the actual sub so it may just be a handle for divers to hold onto and get puled along or something, I can see a diver "riding" the sub into battle with a harpoon to go against the skim wing...... Overall considering James Cameron's love for underwater tech, I'm surprised theres not more shown of in the movie. especially the auxiliary subs that we've seen in small scenes. I cant wait to see the RDA more, maybe in an RDA themed trailer that goes alongside an avatar trailer that shows of the clans. I was kind of disappointed the the main trailer, not nearly enough RDA and next to no info on the plot, but some gorgeous CGI, so hopefully the other trailers deliver as marketing ramps up this month. -

Agreed, the reef side builds look great, it’s a missed opportunity though than they all don’t connect like the first wave. I love all of them but the prices of the bigger sets are turning me off. I’m going to probably get the 2 smallest sets first then then make sub and the tulkin, hopefully we get a second wave for the movie in the summer with an aircraft build, as they did the samson dirty in the first wave. I want a fully fleshed out aircraft. -

Wow, I’m glad I called it with the mako submarine as well, although I’m not sure how I feel about it being a full on set. At least we get RDA stuff, but it’s a shame that forward cockpit is so open. And no aircraft, though I’m not surprised. The 2 smallest sets are easy buys, I love them and am glad to see some smaller priced sets. But holy crap are those bigger sets way of the charts on price. The village is probably my least favourite, the bulk of the structure is made up of cloth/vinyl, and there’s no play features or transformations, and at £70 I think Lego could have done better. Mako sub is good, but should have been £40 or £45, £50 is a bit too much and it looks very simplistic, although I like the inclusion of spider and recom quaritch, although considering spider is Jake sullys adopted son, he’s gonna have a hard time explaining why he’s in a submarine with with his dads enemy. New bow is cool as well. And finally, the space whale. This looks amazing. I love the colours, the new parts for the tulkin head look incredible and the crab sub is alright, if a little small and simplistic. I’m glad we get some RDA though. But this sets price, for what I see, is about £10-£20 overpriced. I could see the tulkin being £50, but that crab suit is not £40. Maybe a 60:30 split? That may be better actually. Really looking forward to these new sets -

Considering there will be a lot more movies releasing throughout the next few years, I won’t be surprised if it dips in and out every couple of years just to coincide with the new films. From what I’ve heard and seen, these sets aren’t selling too well though. -

Then again, promobricks has listed a 5th set, one which I was sceptical of, but at the 60$ or £55 price point, there may still be a chance for a seawasp or heavy samson, although with the primary focus on underwater, I don’t know how it would work. Maybe a bit of underwater rock with a water surface build and a stand fixed to it for the aircraft? I’m just hoping we see more of the RDA insets than a side build for the largest set, and the crab suit seems pretty small if it’s minifig scale, so I don’t have high hopes. Honestly from what I’ve seen so far from the tech side of TWOW I’m really excited, it all looks amazing and It would be a shame to see it wasted . But that’s just my opinion, I know some people (and Lego by the looks of it) favour the Navi. It was shown of in a preview page of a concept art book on the German Amazon website, obscure as hell but we get a couple of good views at it. The sub is a small 2 seater with small fold up arms on the side. It’s torpedo shaped (roughly) and the idea was to have a bunch of them over a moon pool in a larger ship or submarine and they would drop out into the water like bombs coming out of a plane. May show up in the trailer being put out tomorrow, may not. Could imagine it as a short action scene they can put in. I’m not sure how it would be translated into set form as the arms may be too small to be made and the seating configuration is wacky, the forward gunner/manipulator position is controlled lying down in a round canopy at the front and the second seat, the pilot, is behind and above the gunner, in a sitting position. Sorry for the info dump, I’m just really invested in the RDA side. That’s the problem with avatar, the bad guys are just too cool. This Reddit post contains some images from the book, the mako sub is on page 3. Again, I’d love to see it as a set but I have no idea how they could do it at the correct scale, and considering the names, it would have to be a side build. Another update, thank you falcon! sets are coming tomorrow, I assume with the release of the trailer. Exciting times. -

Yes, called it with the crab suit! Pretty disappointed that we aren’t getting the sea wasp or any other heli vehicle, but I’m holding out hope for a mako sub side build. Hopefully we see pics in the next couple of days. Thank you falcon and promobricks! -

A new weapons pack has leaked, its very bone themed. Perfect for halloween, but I suspect its either for ninjago, maybe for the villains of next wave, or maybe monkie kid, although the lady bone demon arc is finished now. Very intriguing and they look very cool. -

Road train! Pump enough air in the tires and maybe it will be water adventure friendly! I am interested to see how they would work a train into the mix. Maybe their next enemy is a train pirate demon, who robs passing freight trains..... -

Agreed, one of the biggest misses with the show so far is the fact that all the characters (aside from season 3 MK) usually keep the same clothing, which means that if most of the characters where introduced in season 1, their set counterparts are only in season 1 sets. Take red son, as you mentioned, he has kept the same outfit since season 1 but he has popped up in other newer sets such as the dronecopter sporting some sort of fire exosuit looking build. Luckily he is still available in the cloud jet, but other figures such as Tang and Mei have stuck to roughly the same print/outfit. A freight train would be interesting but it would also mean that the team would be restricted to just tracks, which may be interesting, it may not be. I don’t know how to feel about that. Apart from that though, there’s not many other ways I can think off to get the containers in. We’ve done truck, we’ve done drone (maybe a sky crane helicopter? It’s a little to similar to the drone though) and we’ve done a container ship. A train or shipping yard is really the only thing I can come up with now. Unless the designers figure out some wild vehicle like the tall container stacker trucks that pick containers up in the centre, that would be very cool and intriguing to see how they pull that off. Either way, we will probably see the flagship set at the Chinese Expo, so there’s a good chance it will be a new base or something. As for what’s next, the show ended on a happy note but teased something that looks like a stone or wood tablet laying on the ground, that flips over and reveals a bunch of symbols. Not entirely sure what that could mean, but it looks like it’s something to do with LBD as it’s got the same colours. -

Well as predicted we have our first info from brick clicker, many thanks for that! 5 sets coming, one of which should be revealed at the Chinese expo event happening on the 5th of November with the Chinese New Year sets. Sets are being retired like the HQ and monkey mech (which I still need to pick up, hopefully on sale on Black Friday) so maybe a new HQ set, or maybe a static base could be more interesting. Apparently it’s now an evergreen theme so there shouldn’t be an end for monkie kid, which I’m happy about. As we haven’t had any new villains in the current sets, I’m gonna guess that the set revealed will give us our first look at the tone of the series plus the enemy faction, I’m excited for that. One thing I’d like to see is maybe a static base for the crew, so far all the bases have been mobile, (not counting FFM) so a static base could be cool. Maybe a shipping yard, if they’re keeping in theme with containers (I absolutely love the container premise). -

Yeah first wave got put up on a Malaysian toy store website a month in advance and Lego went on a complete purge for a while, since then it’s been all quiet. We get set numbers some waves but generally as it’s a mainly Lego store exclusive (in the west at least) we know nothing until the Chinese international show that happens around this time of the year where they reveal the Chinese New Year sets and a monkie kid set. They showed off the drone copter 2 years ago and the moon rocket last year, so fingers crossed we get some great builds this year. It really is a bummer and the main reason I don’t get MK sets that they’re exclusive to Lego.com, I just can’t be bothered to go through the whole process. I’d have a lot more interest if I could just walk into a store and pick some up. On a side note, I have just finished my rewatch of season 3 and I stand by my original feelings, it is by far the best season, although I’d say out of the 3 specials it has the worst special (special was amazing, but the others outshine it). The sets for this wave are amazing though and I’m still yet to get any, although I should be able to get the city of lanterns by the end of the year. The one thing I want now is a soundtrack release, the music is beautiful and it’s a real shame we haven’t had any music released yet. I’ve emailed flying bark productions (the creators) and had no reply. The masters of brickjitzu YouTube channel seems to have gotten its hands on some of the soundtrack as backing tracks in recent vids, I’d love to know how they got that. -

Lego just posted a teaser for the new avatar sets, it’s a Lego-ification of the way of water poster, with one of jakes children (I believe her name is kiri?) in minifig form. I cannot wait for this movie or the sets. Really hoping we get some Mako subs or sea wasps, or the crab suits. -

Yeah this misprint has been in production since the first batch, which can mean a couple of things. Either the set isn't selling well and they are still making their way through the first production wave, this issue is too hard or cant be fixed, or the team are just being lazy and not bothering to fix it. Can you update us when you get the replacement and see if its any different? You can look at bricksbyminds video review of the set and it still has the misprint I think. -
LEGO Ninjago 2022

Personally I still want to go back to the classic style of Ninjago, where they don’t have a ton of these crazy vehicles and things just lying around. I want to see a return to something like the first wave or the original ninja castle sub theme for a wave or 2. Core kind of gives me that vibe but they’re still pushing sets like the combo mech and Lloyds racer. -

Intriguing that they still haven’t fixed that misprint, I wonder now if it’s actually part of the design, although I don’t see why. This has been happening since the sets release. -

Agreed, although I dont currently collect the elemental masters, it would be nice to see the final master before stuff changes, although I remember in season 9 Chamille was said to be doing "bad things again" by Karloff so maybe she could turn up as a villain in the new series, considering its not a reboot. That would be very nice to see, maybe a battle in Metalonia? -

I wasn't able to get to see the re-release, I'm not sure if I can still go see it but I'd love to if the chance is there. Anyone seen the new page leaks from art books on German amazon? some amazing stuff shown off.
