Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Correct. Although specifically I meant the tram MOC linked above. Definitely sounds lovely too. -
Agreed! It's nice to have the option, but it's so much quicker if they're pre-made. It was nice that the new ones were available as complete figures, and I didn't have to search.

That looks lovely. Very fitting addition to the village. The description Brick Clicker had on his video made them sound good too. Looking forward to it. -
Went to a LEGO store today and got some of the new BAM figures. They had all of them, and allowed me to get 3 bunny toys, 3 dogs, and 9 duckies! Very pleased with that and the four figures I got (all of which were pre-made, despite the BAM tower being open).
-
It's from the Winter Village Fire Station. Ha! I was trawling through City stuff.
-
Does anyone know if this figure/torso is from BAM, City, or another line? I can only find it on ExtraBricks store as a full figure, and I was hoping to get a bunch of the torsos.

Are you sure? That looks to me like a pearl gold version of it, not the new one.- 5,946 replies

I received an actual shipping notification of the Clockwork Aquarium today. So hopefully all sets are now being processed in the US. I ordered this a few days after it opened when it knocked out Seasons in Time and I decided it was nice enough and small enough to get. The other order I placed on the opening day still hasn't shipped and it's labeled as backordered.

Yes, I paid in PayPal, but kept getting an error message about needing to add $50 more. I saw people saying they had the same message and added more and it worked, but not for me. I checked Honey too and no deal on this one for me. I'm happy with $75 though. Still showing as in-stock for me though. Delivery by Sep 19.

Ooh, nice! I couldn't get the PayPal promo to work, but $75 for this is amazing. So tempting to get a second one, but I really don't need it.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
RichardGoring replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Maybe, but it's a lot easier to do that with a modular. By their very design, you can add stuff onto it pretty simply (you can of course do it in complex and interesting ways). This is a somewhat complex setup with all the angles involved, so not as simple as just mashing two together. And, as you say, it requires a decent amount of space, so may need some planning to get the setup done. And and it would be an $800 minimum spend to be able to do it, which is a lot! It's 'only' $300-$400 to do the same thing with a modular.- 2,976 replies

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

But the set hasn't been announced at all by LEGO, so the price could still be anything. All we have is a leak of a set at $100, but we don't know when that information was provided. It could easily be out of date. And Hogsmeade is $90 now. And only 850 pieces. Although it has seven figures which is probably more than we'll get in this set. Could they take two figures away and use that budget along with an extra $10 to make a tram? Possibly. Hopefully. But I could also easily see them increasing the price. -

On the Porsche interview, yes, everyone is different, but also, the 911 looks amazing in white. In real life too. I don't really follow Star Wars, but was the Darth Maul bust popular? That was a similar kind of size, wasn't it? And it has the same parallel of not being the obvious choice from the franchise. Are they being inspired by that? -

I would certainly enjoy another vehicle. I really like the early 21st century stuff, so a tram would be awesome. Or a steam engine could be cool (to create an outdoor attraction to gather round). Or even just a shop delivery truck. Maybe a milk truck would be suitable? -

You're probably right. If there are any, it's small. But then you could also say that many people are probably looking at sites that are reporting on the Queen and so not spending time on other sites. But regardless if the reason, they didn't. Although they will. Likely no more than three weeks to go. -
I got a few a couple of weeks ago in the Boston North Shore Mall store.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Well on a business level, there would be relatively little coverage of it from more mainstream sites that they normally get and promote the idea of a cool set with broad appeal to a wide-ranging, general, non-LEGO fan audience. So that's a shame and it's easy to avoid by delaying an announcement by a week or two, which won't affect the release schedule or any other logistics for the product. And then on a brand perception level, very, very, very few people will get upset with LEGO for not announcing something that they can't be certain was actually delayed anyway. But there will likely be quite a lot of people who think it's poor form to announce something that should be about celebration and happy times when such a significant person has died and people are probably feeling a bit down about losing a person who has become an institution, or thinking about their own elderly family members who have died, with so much in the media about it. I suspect you know all of this, but just in case figured I type it out, because nuance is important here, and it's probably silly to equate it to not turning up for work. But there are plenty of places in the UK that are closed today out of respect, so even your suggestion of calling off work isn't unique. -

I found a 'great deal' on eBay ($3.50 each) for some of the series 23 figures and ended up with 8 toucans. I mostly wanted the legs, but convinced myself that the toucans were worth getting the entire figure! Plus an extra girl with foal, although they've already used the foal mould again, so hopefully that gets widespread use.- 5,946 replies

On the other hand, it's a useful feedback mechanism to see what people like and what they respond to. But I suspect most don't appreciate all the pressures and responsibilities and restrictions that the designers are under. Hope it's not taken personally.
