  1. OMG! I looked through and thought the first couple were expensive at $2.25 for 6512662 and $2.40 for 6512663, and then I kept scrolling and found 6508904 for $3.83 and Wednesday's 6492552 for $5.49! The mind boggles!
  2. Favourites: printed parrot, kitten, (rubber) duck (and if that doesn't count, then sheep with removable fleece). Wanted: updated parrot, updated crab, pigeon (while I know that having cheap, simple mould animals allows more to be included in more sets, I miss the printed parrot, and the juxtaposition of the crab next to the modern lobster irritates me). Return: mouse, flamingo, camel.
  3. Oh nice. It is indeed huge. A lot larger than I expected. I built the Caravan Theatre from the same designer in the Bricklink MOC Pop-Up Store, and really enjoyed it, but it was pretty cramped, and I thought that this would be the same, as it has a similar build style - [Caravan Theatre] [BrickLink]. It was a really fun build. I wasn't going to get it, already having something similar, but I'm slightly more tempted. It is a bit dull in colour though, which is a shame. But at the same time, the function is really cool and I think my kids would love that. Hmmm... decisions. On the packaging, these preview builds are all packed by hand, so while it's not terribly elegant, it doesn't surprise me.
  4. He's a pretty prolific LEGO Star Wars person and builds enormous scenes, but every time I see one of his videos, it really does come across as saccharine and a bit shill-like. I'm not really into Star Wars, but he started doing all the LEGO Ambassador stuff. Not a patch on Tiago, Racing Brick, or the best of the lot, JANG. But I got really annoyed in the last round when he did a video and a good chunk was essentially going on about the resale value, which this series just doesn't need. I haven't watch anything since, except this, because there are so few reviews out there.
  5. Another video review. This time for Riverside Scholars. Along with a brief look at the other four. I do like this one and will get it. Partly on its own merits, partly to match up with the other two in the series. Completely agree with you. The Mushroom House and Ocean House have been my favourites of the series so far, pretty much for this reason.
  6. With all of the corner modulars, they've tried to do them at 45 degree angle, so you see both sides. But they've messed up Brick Bank, and just not bothered at all for Tudor Corner. They also appear to have squished the rotated corner modulars, so that they are the same width as a 32 wide modular, so the scale is all wrong. And made it worse by shrinking down some of the taller modulars. What a shame. It's just really lazy.
  7. Oh good grief! Hopefully stock arrives at a wider range of stores for you soon.
  8. Got a full set delivered from Planet Fun Toys today. The Targets in my area have started putting these out at the registers now too, so I had a quick scan of some of them in the line I was in. Two Wolfpack beastmasters, and another bogeymen, so I added them. I've been very lucky to get what I wanted so quickly. The secondary market prices for the beastmaster are ludicrous!
  9. I think you'd probably have to remove the pub facade, but the rest of it could probably work pretty well.
  10. Ha! Me too! I need to rummage around and find some.
  11. And one on the Siege Encampment. It really does look great, but, as I've said before, it feels like you could halve the size and price and still have nearly as good an experience. The siege tower looks great. I really like how you can swap the shields, flags, and colours of the command tent to be either Black Falcons or Lion Knights. Very clever!
  12. Video review of the series 4 Medieval Seaside Market is out. It looks nicer than I expected and a pretty substantial size. I like some of the details that have been added into it, but in other areas it feels a few more could be added. In general, a positive impression. Although I don't think I'll get this one. PoBB, Viking Village, and the series 5 Thieves of Tortuga all have a higher priority, so I imagine this would get left unbuilt.
  13. It looks awesome! How does it feel now that you've built it in real life? What's the stability and build process like? What are you most pleased with?
  14. LEGO-ified if for you.
  15. That's it! I don't build extra levels for the modulars, but I do like the additional Tudor elements. It's better than I could do, but I'd probably try to set the haberdashery back a little and reduce the height of the floor overall. But I do like it. It's incredible how people can come up with these things. Especially so quickly. Thanks for sharing!
  16. ' I feel like 10210 6285 6274 HAS to be in the banner. It's the king of all Lego pirate ships!' You made a typo too! I'd love Redbeard (classic or modern) to appear in the banner. The printed parrot, a blue Imperial sailor or governor (classic or modern), and a treasure chest with proper chromed treasure. It might not scale well, but 6270 in the background might be nice too.
  17. Just looked. Both are available in the US as bestsellers. LEGO® Pick a Brick | Official LEGO® Shop US 6477195 and 6310336
  18. Curiously, I think I prefer the brick built version! The minifigure one doesn't seem like the right proportions, and almost feels a bit too detailed for the size. But then, as I mentioned before, I've only played Sonic 1 and 2 and haven't seen any of the movies. I suspect the minifigure version is more accurate to newer games.
  19. Yes, it's been available. Can't remember if it was bestseller or standard though. If standard, it may be off the list at the moment.
  20. Well, joy of joys my October 14 order arrived! I have two left-hand gorilla arms. The gorillas and their other arms are in another order that is yet to be shipped, but it's progress. Someone on Reddit posted that a LEGO customer service rep said Bricks and Pieces standard should be reopening in early February (not January). So while it's a bit more delayed, it hopefully won't be long to wait. The US factory opening has been delayed too, I saw, so we probably won't get the full catalogue available as Bestseller in the US for a while.
  21. Oh yes, I have two of the Kiki polybags too. Also on clearance. Will get a Balkiry if I see it. I like the look of it. I really enjoyed it. This is the Chemical Plant Zone addition - LEGO MOC Sonic The Hedgehog - Chemical Plant Zone by Carbohydrates | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO And my build of it (which is slightly modified)
  22. My favourite is still the Ideas Green Hill Zone. I think it looks good and reflects the game nicely. I built a MOC from Rebrickable of Chemical Plant Zone too, and would like to make a couple more levels. I think it's a shame they didn't do a few extensions in that style. Of the playsets, I have the Death Egg robot, Tails' plane and the Green Hill Zone with Amy, but only got that because it was on clearance. My children don't really like Sonic, so there wasn't much interest in the game aspect of it, and I'm not sure it has replay value bring the initial gimmick. But again, not tested. None of the others particularly appeal. But then, I only had Sonic 1 and 2 games, so I'm clearly missing out on a bunch of the canon.
  23. Does anyone have recommendations for a good light kit for Rivendell? I started getting light kits for the fairground collection as they still worked with the lights. Then I got one for the Ideas treehouse and it made it far too hard for my kids to play with, so I stopped. My general rule is that the children are allowed to play with any of the LEGO. But Rivendell is just that bit too large to move around and so it sits on a high shelf just looking great, so I figure a light kit would be good. Has anyone installed one they like in-person compared to the marketing photos? The marketing photos of the Ideas treehouse light kit I got were great, but in real-life it was pretty disappointing.
  24. Yes, that's more like it. The double layering of timber framing looks good.
  25. Pah! Don't try to let mere wildly commercial success to tarnish our narrative! I did see a rather good breakdown of the differences between LOTF and The Hobbit, and of the many things included, I would summarize it as time. With the director change, Peter Jackson came in very late to the process. With LOTR, they spent so long planning everything beforehand so it was as they wanted. With The Hobbit, they were far more rushed and less prepared, including handing out script rewrites on the day of filming.
