Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think Lion Knights' Castle is retiring this year? If it does, that opens up the option of Helm's Deep. If it's still available, it feels like it would compete somewhat and they might delay it further. The other issue they'd face is similar to what's happening now. LKC was regarded as one of the very best sets ever. Helm's Deep has a lot of similarities, so would they be able to recapture the magic of LKC with it, or does it just invite unfavourable comparison? -

Disney Properties 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
If they do full minidolls in the Disney calendar then I suspect it could be very successful. The issue with the one last year was trying to get ALL the princesses in, and they didn't want to undermine all the other sets by making them minidolls. But if they focus on just two or three and then some supporting characters, they could probably do something more impressive and set up a nice series over a couple of years. -

RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
They can say 'completes the trilogy' and think it's coming to an end, but then management sees the sales numbers and decides it will continue as its profitable. Or they can plan several sets for years ahead, but then management sees the sales numbers and decides it will stop as it's not profitable enough. Plans change all the time for LEGO. See the cancellation of sets planned and even in production like the Dreamzzz tower, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the Technic Osprey, Vidiyo wave 2. Heck, even Lord of the Rings first time around. But on the other hand, see how the retirement dates of popular sets keep getting pushed later and later as they're still selling well and not dragging down the sales opportunities for newer sets. -

I went to bed. Fortunately the GWP is still available now, so I have it ordered. Phew! I don't think it's worth a huge amount to me, but as I don't see this getting a discount, based on the previous set not being discounted in the US, it feels like it offsets the cost of it reasonably enough. Looking forward to building Bag End and seeing how others might combine all the side builds together and pondering my own approach. -

It's so especially irritating given the hype they build with an extremely limited GWP and then fail to allow you to buy it. Fine, don't have a sufficiently stable website to support online sales in a timely manner, but if you do, make sure the exclusive GWP you have been promoting lasts for more than a few hours. I'm hoping it's still there in the morning. Night everyone! Good luck! -

Well, it's gone 1:00 EST, and still not working. I can't say I'm surprised, and I can't say this is the first time I've been disappointed. Who knows if it should work. I can get on the product page, but it doesn't recognize it as a wish list item, nor can I access my wish list, suggesting that the website isn't working correctly, which may be the cause of the issue. Or it's timing. Or it's LEGO being LEGO and anything digital they do is subpar. Sigh. -

I wonder if the website sales portal hasn't been converted to summer time yet, so it's an hour behind. I'm going to give it ten minutes then give up and send a note of annoyance tomorrow if the GWP sells out in the few hours I'm asleep. -

2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
RichardGoring replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
They're also doing 31168 'Medieval Horse Knight Castle' too, so the possibility for horses to appear at least. Maybe a new colour? Or with different barding on it. Seems odd that they've chosen two factions for the minifigure gumball machine. It's almost a shame that they've spread themselves thin, unless the plan is to do a castle wave next year to bring a bit more depth to both of them. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Looks like there will be two new classic space colours in the Ideas minifigure gumball machine. Teal and Gold. Curious. I wonder how many figures will be in it total? They're doing two castle figures in there too. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I jest, sorry, but it is a perception. Personally, I don't give a thought to pigeons and don't care about them either way. Had no idea about their origins - fascinating. Rats on the other hand are great, and I love them. Mice too. Just a shame about disease in cities. I've been tempted to get a pet rat for a long time. -

Looks like Dreamzzz might be coming to an end, which is a shame. Sets for H1 2026, but nothing in H2. They had some great models and excellent builds, although I must admit, I bought most of my sets on clearance, so I can see why. And 71501 Game Island Tower has been cancelled and a description is on Reddit. It sounds amazing, but if it was to be 'only' 1575 pieces, then I suspect it would have been somewhat small in comparison with other tower sets. Some amazing figures described, which I hope come through in the other sets of the wave.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
RichardGoring replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am once again staggered by the recent updates to Pick a Brick ordering. I place two orders on Wednesday night (some parts I needed had limited allowances) with a mix of bestseller and standard. Both bestseller orders shipped within 24 hours. Just had the receipts come through for the two standard orders, so they're shipped within 48 hours. To the US. Fabulous turnaround there! Got some pieces to make additional hobbits for Bag End and an Enterprise E model from Rebrickable which I'm really excited for. What are the chances that the Star Trek torsos will be on PAB when they launch? One can dream... -

That's excellent. I considered doing the same thing, so may well steal be heavily inspired by yours. Great idea! Generally agreed. Although I do appreciate that in the Brickset review they called out three pretty negative things right from the outset: Pretty limited interior, Party Tree looks awful, Extremely expensive. Those are somewhat aggressive terms. All things that I agree with too! -
I like the pirate tile and the mid-legs with cast. The cockatoo is nice, and I will definitely get more, but part of me wishes it were a different colour. But otherwise, not so much. Nothing really that exciting.
